Dancing with the Stars

If Gladys lost 60 lbs she must've really been heavy, because she's still quite plump. Good that she's continuing her weight loss program though...why not keep dancing...it's good for you!
-
I hear that they have dvd's with dancing programs for exercising to lose weight. I can't find them anywhere though.
-
Oh I think I saw those last year - can't remember the name of it. They were making the talk show rounds last year when I was unemployed! I will see if I can find them!

Amazon.com: Dancing With the Stars - Cardio Dance
Looks like you can find them on Amazon, here's a link to one......you can get a used copy of this one for $1.42.
-
I found a DWS Cardio Latin Dancing DVD at Walmart. O.K. but not quite the same as actually dancing with a star!
-
Ruth - I agree, not unless Maks or Toni shows up at the house to give us the dance lessons. LOL
Tom did mention the dance videos but can't remember what he said. I am not buyin another dance video to collect dust on the shelf.
-
Here are some of the Martha and the Vandella's hits you might remember. I really liked Dancing in the Street, when I was a teenager.

Kaara...it took Gladys over 2 months to lose the weight. She also followed some sort of program for weight loss and that coupled with the hours of dance rehearsals did it. I think for a 67 year old woman she looks fabulous. She has me by 10 years and if my body could look that "tight" I would be happy!!!
-
shorbr: That's a lot of weight to lose in only two months...more power to her! I hope she stays on her diet and exercise program which is the key to good health.
-
Does anyone know how the dancers are paired up with the stars? Is it the luck of the draw or some other way?
-
I have no idea but I would like to know too.
-
The producers manage such things on reality shows. Too much at stake to leave it to chance.

-
I kind of figured that much but I would like to know the criteria.
-
They aren't going to tell. The goal being to make the show as interesting and popular as possible. Not always in the ways we would intuitively imagine. :P
-
thanks TheDivineMrsM for checking our the video for me.
Gingerbrew, I loved Martha's songs too when I was a teenager.
I like to do exercises to good songs and good music. I just started an exercise program as I have gained much too much weight.
-
I also wonder how they decide in which order do the couples dance each week. And how do they decide which ones get the 'foxtrot' or the 'walz' or the 'cha cha cha' or the 'samba'. Also, how do they pick the music? I thought I heard once that the professionals are given several music selections that go with their dance and they get to pick which song they dance to.
-
Yeah...when they did that "behind the scenes" the other night, why didn't they cover that instead of all the other BS that no one was interested in! Inquiring minds want to know!
-
Seriously. those details are never revealed. The contestants and performers have contracts that require this silence, with huge monetary penalities if they disclose. I might have worked on a reality show ten or so years ago.
Still, I watch these shows, enjoying, even though I know what is going on behind the scenes. The shows are designed to make the best viewer experience so they get the best ratings.
Hugs Ginger

Ginger...true....in the end it's all just mindless fun! Looking forward to the start of the Bachelorette in May so I can watch that cute Emily play with guy's hearts:) LOL
-
Ah yes, mindless fun and eye candy...just what the doctor ordered.
-
ARe you ready for some fun? It's classical night.
-
I thought Melissa was ok. She seemed a little shocked with the judges decisions. And did I hear a little 'cry' in her voice? I am hoping she gets the boot tomorrow. She seemed to pout with their comments, after all she danced like that in front of her spine surgeon...lol
-
I think the music in classical night goes much better with the dancing!
-
OMG, William and Cherryl dancing to "Ave Maria" sung by Jackie. It was beautiful!!!
-
shorbr - I think Melissa is trying but there is something about her personality that doesn't allow her to let go and enjoy. If only she would loosen up.
-
Jackie Evancho has an amazing voice for such a little girl. She nailed the Ave Maria. What a voice for a 12 y/o.
Go Roshon!
-
Jackie is amazing! i first saw her on Oprah and was blown away!
-
As much as I hate to admit this, marie and Derek were wonderful. They were perfect. Jackie has a gift that is unbelievable. She was absolutely wonderful!
-
I agree Marie and Derek we on fire!
-
I'm not a huge fan of Maria OR Derek but OMG that dance was incredible. I hope it winds up on YouTube so I can download it and watch it over and over.
I love Little House on the Prairie but Melissa needs to be at the bottom. I wasn't impressed with Jaleel this week either.
But you know, I think this is the strongest show they've had so far. Amazing that all these diverse people can turn out such marvelous performances!
