Whisperer, dunno how soon you can color. I never colored my hair, considered it now after chemo, but gave up on it after all. I do have some grey, but not too bad. The first stuff did look white, but then it started growing in with my old color.
-
I am so excited my hair is growing back!! I was completely bald (head, eyebrows, eyelashes, etc) in mid February. Now two months later, I proudly displaying my head of hair! NO MORE WIGS!!!

Srall67 - that is seriously encouraging - When did you lose your eyelashes/eyebrows ? and are they back in too?
-
Srall67 - Wow......That is fantastic! What type of chemo did you have? How soon did your eyebrows grow back?
-
I think I'm missing my eyebrows the most!
-
Nice pictures on here! I need to try to take one. My hair looks like my triplet Dragonfly's (we were on the same chemo at the same time). Only mine is more puffy and curls. Not in a good way. Dragonfly you look way more styled than I do no matter what I do.
I have had mine cut but it's getting back to the looks awful but gotta let it grow if I want it to get better. I have a feeling the next few months are going to be pretty rugged, but I am going to try to let it grow. Grateful to have bad hair days though & I know you all understand that.
-
Srall, you look completely adorable. Congrats on the new hair!

Girls - I am now 2 years PFC and 15 months post last Herceptin. My hair came back nice and thick but SO curly it was like I had a perm. In the morning it was an afro. I had to wash it every day. I posted a thread about this incredible treatment. It's called Cacau - a Brazillian keratin treatment. I had it done on the 14th March and am over the moon still after all those weeks. I don't have to wash it everyday anymore. It's not totally straight and I have some of my natural wave back. I can highly recommend this treatment - no chemicals involved. My hair is streaked blonde and the treatment hasn't damaged it at all.

Hope this helps some of you.

Momine - nice to see what you look like - beautiful
-
Eyebrows are still growing back. They are coming back grey. UGH!....Thank God for eyebrow pencils!!!!
I fininshed the A and C December 31 and started weekly Taxol mid January.
-
I had last chemo 2-7 and my hair is not quite as thick as Srall's, but same length and shape. I went topless in public for the first time today. Yay me! Wasn't as bad as I'd made it out to be in my head. Sure, I got a few looks, but no biggie. I was tired of the bandanas! Now that I have eyelashes and brows I felt a bit better. I'm not complaining, but I just wish all the hairs that are showing up as chin wiskers and Burt Reynold's mustache would land on my head instead!
-
St Jude - I hear ya. I'm going for a wax tomorrow. My head hair is coming in sort of funny....lots on the right and back but not too much on the left and top. Grrrrr.
-
LOL about the chin hairs...I knew every thing was going to be okay once I saw the first chin hair.
-
Srall67 - can u dye the eyebrows? I wonder if that would work to cover the grey. I notice mine are usually very dark and are much lighter. I think when it's all said and done and they are all back and not dropping. I'm gonna try dying them if they are not the normal color.
-
I talked with my hairstylist and she said that I could use an inexpensive root touch up kit to put on my eyebrows. I just use a little Vaseline around the eyebrow before using the hair color and 15 mins. later, no more white eyebrow hairs. Just be very careful not to get the dye in your eyes. I use a flat cotton tipped applicator to apply it so I have more control.
-
Momine you look great!
Dragonfly, we have the same hair do! Yours is a little longer on top though.
I have embraced scarves and bandanas again and the magic of hair gel. I am getting alot of "you should keep it short" comments.
-
Dragonfly, when was your last herceptin?
-
You guys make the best cheering section ever! Thanks for all the nice comments.
-
Having a break from Herceptin
.. Muga scan showed a drop of 11% yickes.. Have to have another muga in three weeks to see if it has come up.. Otherwise no more Herceptin...... Upside... my hair will grow faster these next three weeks
-
EmmaC My last herceptin was 1/18/12 and I'm definitely noticing faster hair growth in the past several months.
-
Ossa, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
Dragonfly, thank you! My last one was the beginning of March.
-
I got my first "real" haircut yesterday, 7 months PFC. My back was more than an inch longer than the top, and I was fearing the mullet. So now it's all the same length. She razor-cut it so it's even curlier than before...lol. But I'm liking the curl, so that's OK. It's nice to have wash 'n wear hair. I seriously don't have to do anything to it. I'm going back in 2 weeks for a professional color.
Momine - your hair is coming in so nicely!
-
Is there anything at all that can be done to get the front/bangs to grow quicker?
-
Oh those dang bangs! I have barely, barely trimmed any growth of my bangs since they began growing back after my last chemo on 6/3/2011. The bangs are still about 1/2 an inch above my eyebrows. To get them to stretch as long I can get them, I apply some hair wax on the bangs when they are wet, then I carefully blow-dry them from above, using a hairbrush to pull the hair down. When dry, I run more hair wax over the bangs and spray with Paul Mitchell super freeze spray. They still want to curl up during the day -especially when my forehead sweats during a hotflash.
-
I'm going to celebrate when my bangs reach my eyebrows!!!
-
I finished chemo April 5th and so I'm in the white peach fuzz stage. It's itchy and my head feels tight but my husband says he can actually see the fuzz in the light. So I guess the hair growth has begun!
-
My hair is coming in uneven...in patches. Anyone else? I'm 8 weeks PFC.
-
Hi Ladies,
You all look BEAUTIFUL~~can't wait to have hair that long. Sigh. I have one treatment of the AC and then I start Taxol and Herceptin. It sounds like all three slow hair growth so who knows how long it will be for me. Oh well. It is what it is.
Have any of you had experience with Nioxin:shampoo, conditioner, foam treatment? The lady at the wig store said it would help with hair growth. Is this true or just a line of bs to make me buy more stuff, lol!!!???!!!!
-
My hair started growing (rather slow) after 3rd Taxol. I had # 8 this week and started using Nioxin today. Hoping it works. I also have been using Latisse on my eyelashes and eyebrows since just before starting chemo. That I do belive is working.. Can't hurt to try..
