Inflamed Milk Ducts

Options

HI!  I had a lumpectomy in June 2009 for DCIS Stage 0.  The past October I began to have a clear discharge from the nipple on that side.  After tons of testing, they thought I had a papiloma and last week I had surgery to remove it.  The doctor excised most the ducts and disabled the other ones.  When he called to tell me there was no cancer but that they'd found inflamed milk ducts I asked him why.  He said he didn't really know and that he doesn't think I am an inflamed person and maybe it was from radiation.  I strongly believe in a mind / body connection and I do think I am an inflamed person - I'm miserable, I hate everyone, my life stinks, etc. etc. etc.  How do the rest of you feel?  Do you believe in the mind / body connection?  Would enjoy hearing other's thoughts.

AnnieBear, absolutely, interesting about the term 'inflamed person' - I believe that our body influences our mind and moods and that our mind affects our body - that's why everything is SO complicated !!!

Don't forget though that living and dealing with this disease is above and beyond what most people deal with in their whole lifetime.  I find now that I have more difficulty relating to 'normal' people, since I've lost my carefree outlook which most people seem to have intact.

So give yourself a big pat on the back for pulling that weight and don't be too hard on yourself, treat yourself gently, hugs little sister

Although I definitely believe there is some kind of mind-body connection, I have trouble with the concept that being an inflamed person, as you put it, caused your cancer.  I think that theories like this end up blaming the victim, which makes ME inflamed.  I believe it is undoubtedly a lot more complex than this, with multiple variables contributing.

You can actually test for inflammation in the body.  My nutritionist tested my SED rate, but there is another test that gives you an indication as well (forgotten the name of it).  I actually took my inflammation down from a level of 5 (already good), to a 1 (beyond good) through exercise, supplementation, and good eating.  I attribute a lot of it to the Turmeric I take, as well as general good nutrional status.

Wow - Marianna that sounds so cool.  I have a book at home about inflammation in the body - I suppose I should read it ! ! ! !   I know my body is messed up because for the past few years my eating habits have been out of control and I don't exercise anymore.  Having breast cancer should have been my wake up call, but it wasn't.  I need a massive shot of energy ! ! ! !
