Red blotch....could it be :(

A couple days ago I noticed a red blotch about the size of a dime right in the middle of my chest.  Now of course I'm obsessed by it....I did have IBC, please say it isn't so.  I've not found that perfect balance yet....I'm always either torn between moving on with my life and is that BC fear.  I was struggling with moving on already and now this.  I don't think it's growing, if it was BC it would be getting larger right?  It seems like I've noticed it before now and I think it's staying the same.  It doesn't seem to be warmer than the rest of my skin.  I do have a new onc that I'll be seeing on Tues. so it will be the first thing I mention.  You know BC could come back anytime but when your dealing with a new symptom that fear is front and center.  Just needed to ramble and vent, thanks for listening.

Oh Jen, always something to disturb our minds, is it?? So many things can cause that blotch. Remember before BC we would hardly worry about things like that, but now everything scares us. I am having some itching where my prosth bra line is with tiny spots and I think it's some allergy, as it gets better from creams. Could yours be the same?Is it itchy or irritated? Sorry you are going thru this, no word of wisdom, but want to send you strength. Good that you will see your onc on Tuesday. It's more than likely to be nothing, but you will get peace of mind. Good luck and let us know.

    Hugs.

it might just be a fungal/yeast infection on your skin. I got it really bad during chemo and every now and again it recurs and I guess my immune system is re-learning how to fight it. It pops out when I get sweaty. You can treat it with over the counter creams like lotrimin or monistat. I know its digusting but its easily treated.

You could still see a Dr and get it diagnosed and get a rx cream or Diflucan. I always vote for having a Dr diagnose it...for peace of mind. Good luck!

    Hi Jen,

Saying a prayers right now that it's something benign. Show the new onc and perhaps they can do a punch biopsy. It doesn't hurt and the results should come back pretty quick.

I am hopeful because it isn't near your mast site that it is a bite or something else.  Hang in there. The fear stinks.

    Big Hugs,

    Lexi

Could it be a bug bite? Hang in there-until they tell you it's something-it's NOTHING.

I get a blotch like this from time to time and have realized that they are caused by a reaction to the body lotion I am using.  The blotch is pinkish and slightly itchy.  Is yours itchy?  You could try using over-the-counter cortisone cream on it for a few days.  That clears them up for me.

Of course, you may want to consult with your doctor for your peace of mind.

Try not to panic.  It could just be a skin problem, not bc.

    All the best to you!

    Hi Jenny-

No advice, just wanted you to know someone else is thinking of you.  It's so hard to strike that balance between being hopeful and being fearful--I know I struggle with it, too...

You are doing the right thing by getting it checked out.  I hope it is something benign...  You'll be in my thoughts!  Keep us posted...

Let alone BC is hard on our bodies, it makes our minds go to places we normally would not have pre BC. I have been/still in that boat. Hang in there and let us know how it goes on Tuesday.

Thanks everyone....it doesn't itself itch too bad, the whole radiation area still itches from time to time but the spot itself doesn't stand out as itchy.  It really doesn't look like a rash or bug bite, it looks red like if you get pinched except its not going away.  Thanks again everyone, I appreciate being able to let my fears out here and take off the brave face.

Hi Jenny, this may be a long shot, but could it be Tinea Versicolor? I would have this pop up every few months for years from living in the Caribbean. I bought a product called "Versel" which is 2.5% Selenium Sulfide. This is the only product that finally wiped it out. It is known to have a cancer fighting properties as well, which has made me wonder about the relation between cancer and fungus.

As an interesting sidenote, I also used this lotion on a skin growth that was on my bc side, right above where my lump was, and the growth disappeared completely in 3 days! Even my Oncologist found this interesting.

Sending hugs and hope all goes well on tuesday.

    One love, Jackie

    Hi Jenny,

I HATE this crap don't you?  I have a tendency to do the same thing.  If I get a new pain or feel or see something I haven't before, I start obsessing over it and then my mind goes to that dark place. NOT good!  I have tried really hard to just live my life, but it truly is like PTSD for us.  We have been traumatized mentally and physically and now we are just supposed to go back to our "normal" selves???????

Anywhoo, I think too it is probably nothing, but am glad you have that appt to put your mind at ease.  Let us know when you hear something!

    Love,

    Sharon

Jenny, I'm the biggest worrier I know so it's not really fair for me to give you advice, but my aunt always says to me, "Don't borrow trouble."  And my sister always says, "Don't suffer future pain." I try to keep these words in my mind and they do help.

Try not to look at the red splotch. Have a great Sunday night and Monday. You'll have some idea of what the onc thinks on Tuesday. Until then assume it is nothing which it most likely is. You are a survivor and a thriver and will continue to be!!

    Hi Jenny,

I know exactly how you are feeling. I am hopeful that it is some kind of bite. If it doesn't go away in 2 weeks or so ask for a punch biopsy.

Praying for comfort for you. The worrying is awful.

    Hugs and Prayers,

    Lex

I would look for this rash on another part of your body, even if it is a smaller version of the same type of rash. I get these types of rashes ALL...THE....TIME....But I look and then I find another one elsewhere.  If this is the ONLY site of the rash than I would have it looked at. Only because it if were to be a local recurrence, you would want to catch it ASAP.  I have heard we can be prone to fungus infections after having radiation.

I did get good news...thanks for checking.  I met my new onc. and I love her, she is warm and seems geniunely concerned, unlike my other one.  She does do tumor markers so that is new for me....I'll be on here next with the elevated test scare :).  She did one today, the blotch is nothing and I'll see her in a month after she has reviewed my "stack" of medical records I gave her.  Thanks girls for hanging with me during this scare.  I left today with a renewed feeling of wellness and comfort that I've not had in a while.

So glad you got good news!

And so glad you like your new oncologist--it really helps to have someone you like and someone who listens to your concerns--so glad you've found that, especially after your last one...
