Anyone on DCA
My wife was just given some bad news that her TNBC cannot be cured and that she was given two choices of drugs, one a trial drug Fortinib and the other chemo of Carboplatin and Gemcitabine. Now I have heard from two different sources of a promising drug with no patent that is quite cheap called DCA. My question is - has anyone tried this drug? and if so how are you doing on it. Thanks for any info you may have. The youtube video is a link to Canada's CTV national news station segment via youtube:
peace and serenity to all

Andy: I am so sorry about your wife's prognosis. Has the cancer spread? I haven't heard of that drug, but hopefully someone will be along shortly. You might also want to post on the Stage 3 or 4 boards, where there may be more women on second-tier and/or Phase III drug therapies. I know there are a lot of drugs in the pipeline, and hopfully one can get your wife to NED (no evidence of disease). Best wishes to you both.

Hi Andy,
I'm so sorry you have reason to join us here. From your other posts, it seems that your wife's doctors have a reasonable plan in place. Stage IV BC is not considered "curable," but it can be treatable.
A word of caution, however. There are a LOT of scams out there and a lot of people happy to sell you the miracle cure of the day and take advantage of your emotions and fears. By all means, look into every possibility, but keep in mind the old saying that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Since coming here to BCO after my diagnosis a few years ago, I've been horrified to see how much harmful information is out there. All I can say is to take *everything* you read here with a grain of salt and confirm everything with credible and reliable sources.
The search feature here is pretty good, and DCA (dichloroacetate) has been discussed lots of times.
Here are just a few resources that I consider to be credible and reliable. Of course, one of my admirers (not) will probably be along shortly to accuse me of being a troll or a drug rep or the Big Bad BoogeyWoman or something, but you can decide which resources you choose to rely on. I wish you and your wife nothing but the very best.

Hi Andy,
I've been thinking of you and your wife and hoping things are moving forward with her treatment, whatever she has chosen. Best to you both!
