Hi Lisa...um, we're clueless!  Most of us are in the midst of chemo so we can't be of much help!!  But congrats on the last chemo this week!

    Lisa

When I saw my MO last Thursday, they set up another appointment for 3 weeks time to do bloodwork and to pick up my prescription for Tamoxifen.  Then I'll be there the following day for Herceptin.  And on it goes.

Hey Love! Did you watch LA close out Vancouver?? I doubt that I'll continue cheering for LA, but sweet Game 6!

Hope your coping and glad the end of your chemo is in sight.

onvacation- In Houston, you can get Buffs at the REI store on Westheimer, Whole Earth Provisions and Academy.  They are about $22 and provide UVA protection.  Have several myself.

Good Luck Michelle. Will be thinking about  you today!

     klt

I was looking back at some posts and never answered your question re SIMA vs MUGA. I'm pretty sure its the same heart test. Its where they inject you with the radioactive stuff and then they basically take a little movie of the heart. Fun wow.  I suppose I shouldn't complain, at least its monitored every 3 months.

Well I expect today will be my "down" day if things run the same course as before.  I'm stiff as a board too so staying in bed wasn't an option although I would have loved to.

Its almost like a winter day here today, they're even calling for a bit of snow!!  Yuck!

Hi all. I'd like some help with the delicate topic of poop. I'm having some serious constipation this time around to the point of having some bleeding. I've tried Senekot and Colace. I try to make sure to eat several prunes a day, but that has never seemed to help much. Has anyone else had this problem and found something that works well?

I hope everyone is doing well today, I stayed home from work today with my little one. We're getting up to 18 inches of snow today! 18 inches!! Craziness! I'm going to try to come up with a list (most likely will be lengthy) of questions when I see my MO on Wed for my next round of battle juice. I hope he carved a good chunk of time out for me! Ha!

Sorry you are having that issue!  Are you drinking lots of water and eating any fiber?

I am trying to stay hydrated, but I have to admit, I rarely drink plain water. Do you think that would help? I have a history of Diverticulosis, so I'm good at getting all of my fiber everyday.

Hi nsmolen.  Unbelievable that there is snow on the east coast!!!  Anyway, both after my surgery and then now, I've resorted also to Phillips Milk of Magnesia.  That does seem to help me.  I think part of my problem also is eating the first few days - the stuff that's easy on your stomach isn't necessarily the highest fiber stuff.  I tried taking two stool softneners (aka Colace)  night before last, nothing yesterday, ate four prunes and some high fiber bread and veggies during the day, chugged water, still nothing by nightfall (normal for me is 1x a day), so took two spoonfuls of Phillips at bedtime.  This morning although not "normal", some success.  I'd try the Phillips if you haven't already - it's pretty gentle.  Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask your doc - this problem is the worst in a lot of ways.

Oh yeah, if you like them - I love the Thomas Multi-Grain Light High Fiber english muffins.  A whole muffin has 8 grams of fiber, but you don't feel like you're choking down sawdust.

Sorry, just saw your catch-up posts-with diverticulitis, maybe not the Phillips, but still ask the doc.  I'd just try then to push fluids - if you don't like plain water, a lot of people have suggested tricks for flavoring it, like using Crystal Light or stuff like that.

Indigo- thanks for the info on the milk of magnesia. I've never been told I couldn't take it because of my history, but I'll double check with my MO on Wed.

I love those english muffins! I slather them with peanut butter. Mmmm.

nsmolen - My doc said to use Lactulose if nothing else works.  Its a liquid...like pure sugar.  The pharmacist keeps it behind the counter but you don't need a prescription.

Indigo - that was a great game last nite!  Not sure who I'm going to cheer for now...I'll wait to see who makes it to the next round then decide.  I'm just happy Van is out!

Tx4 has been the worst for me so far.  I can't stop sweating...all day and all nite.  I haven't really slept since middle of last week.  I was hoping to make it to the end without complaining too much but I don't think that will happen!  Sure wish I had air conditioning.

Love74, I don't remember what regiment you're on?  But hopefully #4 means you are at least halfway through.  Believe it or not, it's been hot enough here in Colorado the last couple of days that by 4 p.m. I've been turning on our air conditioning.  (I have to keep asking if anyone else feels hot or is it just me, lol).  I wish I could share with you!

I'm going to keep cheering for the Blues for sure - I'll have to check, though, and see who Nashville goes up against next!

I missed it - did the Pens/Flyers make it all the way to game 7?

Hey all, just wondering, so... today as I've said is day 4 of tx 1.  I am off all of the preventive antinausea stuff (i.e., zofran and emend) that I was taking the last 3 days, and just have the compazine "in case."  I feel a teeny bit queasy but not nauseated at this point, no big appetite but some food things *do* sound good and I was able to eat breakfast OK.  I'd like to not do the compazine if not necessary because I'm trying to work and don't want to be knocked out.  Did you tend to find that if you got this far by this time, that the worst of the nausea was probably over?  (I know, it's not an exact science).

Indigo - I'm on TCHx6 so I have two left...then herceptin...then babies!  I have to add on babies because it makes me feel better to look forward to next spring when I can get some embryos implanted!

Thanks for the virtual share of your A/C!  My DH is a refrigeration mechanic so you would think I would be the last to complain about over-heating but there aren't too many days when we would need AC in our house up here.

Love74 - I'm so excited for you, babies in the future, wow!  My two sons are just about the best things in my life.  They are grown up now - but back when we started trying to have babies, we had a rough time getting pregnant, long story short, and after 3 years of trying, at least one of our doctors gave us a very gloomy prognosis on our chances of conceiving w/o artificial means.  Well - we did happen to luck out and just after scheduling an appointment with an infertility specialist, got pregnant with DS#1 out of the blue.  DH always said it was because he started tai chi, lol.  I guess it worked because no problems with DS#2 either.

Anyway... my point is, I will pray that everything works out for you, and you just know that if you can kick cancer ass, you've definitely got the stripes to be a mom!

I caved, ladies... ran a little bank errand with DH and told him I just had to have a Taco Bell burrito and Mexican pizza.  Crossed my fingers they'd taste good, oh - they so tasted good.  Trying to tell myself I deserved them even though my hair hasn't started falling out yet!

And - so we went through the drive-up, they kept us waiting forever, and then we almost drove away without my pizza or DH's drink.  I didn't have my jacket on but figured I didn't care so took my very flat chested self into the restaurant and got the drink.  Not sure if anyone really noticed my lack of boobs or not at the time - I just wanted to get the heck out of there.  When I got back to the car, DH told me that my pizza wasn't there.  So we're digging for the receipt, I'm getting ready to go back  in, and here comes an employee saying, "You forgot your pizza!"  He had a very strange look on his face, lol, makes me think he wasn't sure what gender I was (I am wearing a hot pink ribbed cotton tank top and cropped jeans, but no makeup....).

I told DH if I'd done it bald I'd probably have gotten out of there with half a dozen pizzas if I'd wanted to!  Laughing

    Hugs to all!

Hi ladies: I'm just stopping in from the March 2011 chemo lounge to let you know that I am cheering you on!  I started chemo March 10 of 2011, and when I think back to last year and being there, my heart goes out to all of you.  I did the AC + T and personally, had an easier time on the taxol than the A/C.  Stay hydrated (I used Propel packets in water), try to exercise, and go easy on yourself.

Wishing you all the best, knowing you can get through this!

Onvacation- I haven't done much research into clinical trials yet since I'm still so early in treatment. I know there are some trials on Metformin for triple negatives and just learned of one for Herceptin for HER2- (low positive). I plan on asking my MO on Wednesday if I'm a candidate for anything in phase III or phase IV. Have you learned of anything?

No I haven't except when I first met my MO he said there was nothing right now.  I will ask again also.  But I have 4 more treatments then radiation to go. So I guess I have time!
