Need positive energy/prayers

Options

I've got an appointment with the onc next Friday to investigate why my back has been hurting for 2+ weeks with no increase but no decrease in discomfort either. I certainly hope and want this to just be a badly pulled muscle, herniated disc, anything but mets. And this of course is the time I was going through all my original testing for my diagnosis back in 2008, so not the most easy time for me either.

If you can, please send positive thoughts, energy, prayers, whatever my way that it is either not mets, or the strength to deal with it if it is.

gfbaker I don't know if it helps but I've been going through the same thing and it turned out to be benign. My back has been hurting for months to the point that it wakes me up every night in pain (my hip and shoulder hurt as well). I definitely didn't injure myself to cause these problems.

You can imagine that I was completely freaked out by the pain not going away and especially since everything says that night pain is particularly ominous. I'm 42 and have never had any joint or back problems in the past. Anyway, a CT scan showed 2 bulging discs and a benign lesion in my hip. A shoulder MRI showed tendonitis/inflammation. Lots of issues but not mets! Are you on a hormone blocking drug? I'm convinced that Tamoxifen is what kicked off all of these problems for me. My point is that as severe as my problem is I was convinced that it was mets but it's not. I'm hoping the same for you...

I am taking tamoxifen too. This also seemed to start up off and on not too long after an oopherectomy. I partly wonder if I could have scar tissue or something. Anyway, thanks for your kind thoughts both of you & I'll update next Friday when I meet with the onc.

gfbaker--I'll certainly say a prayer for u--Again if this helps I have the same thing with my back an other bones and joints, It's no doubt the aromasin cuz they test for anything now.  I have to have a bone scan in the next week or so to make sure--but I'm not concerned because so many of us have this. So if this helps at all......

You'll be in my thoughts & prayers, gf!  Hopefully, it's just a lingering injury of some sort, or even a touch of arthritis.  But, boy, we all know how scary those unexplained pains can be!    (((Hugs)))   Deanna

Okay, so I went in on Friday and had to get a chest & spine xray, and a bone scan this coming Tuesday. I don't really know anything about bone scans. I know that they put something in me and come back 2 hours later for the scan. Is it something you drink or an injection? How does it get in your bones? I sure hope that they don't need to go through the spine - yikes! And I am a little nervous about the chest xray - I don't have any lung symptoms. Well, I guess I'll know more next week.

Hi gfbaker- for the bone scan, it's an injection. It's something radioactive- as they told me not to sit next to or cuddle with my kids for 24 hrs. I had the injection, left for two hours, came back and they did the scan, which was really easy. You just lay on a table and the scanner is above you. The tables moves back and forth. It was open, didn't feel enclosed at all. They let my husband come in the room, and he and the technician made small talk the entire time, which made it go by quickly. When it was over, the tech left the room for about 20 minutes to confer with the radiologist. Then he came in (radiologist) and told me the scan was clear an showed us the images. I don't know if they all do this. This was the same radiologist that read my mammogram and saw a suspicious "pulling" of breast tissue and ordered a biopsy.... Thank God he did... With ILC there is no lump.

Good luck with your scan, we'll be thinking of you.

    Hi gfbaker,

Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.  It is encouraging to read of others who had symptoms of mets, but it turned out otherwise.  I have a bone scan scheduled for tomorrow morning and hoping for the best as well.  Take care.

Well, I had the bone scan and no big deal, though in the past week I've had my mammogram, 3 xrays and a bone scan so I am feeling very irradiated right now. I have to remember to drink lots of water. Now is the waiting game....ugh. I think I'm going to call my oncs office and put on the pressure to get some answers as soon as possible.

I got the news this morning... all clear! So now it is off to the chiropractor, PT and MT. Thanks so much for everyone's thoughts and kind words.

Donna, I hope your scan comes out clear too.
