Cant wait to see it in full bloom and growth  I have a tiny side yard that I plant anything an everything I can find .. I have lots of phlox, one huge yellow climbing rose, purple cone flower and what ever seed I find for that year cosmos and stuff to fill in with. Then all my peppers, tomato's and beans peas .. herbs.. I just mix them all together... lots of stuff in a small space.  Just love plants and flowers so relaxing in the morning to go out and weed and pick.   My best mental therapy!

    Hello Ladies.

I have not visited here for a while, but have kept up with the posts.  Day, I love your enthusism for your garden.  I wanted to see the pics, so I signed in, changed my photo, and look forward to seeing everyone's updated photos.

I am great, as you can see.  I have a dog, Lilly, who is my partner in most things.  She is great company for me.  I post a lot of my photography on Facebook, and if you want to friend me, I can send you my FB name.  I don't think they want us to do that except in private messages. Most of you already know who are on facebook, but let me know if you want to be my FB friend.

I just had my second clear Mammo since treatment.  All seems well.  I am having physical therapy for frozen shoulders, which is somewhat related to the radiation/medication/surgery.

I hope you are all well, happy and living your life to the fullest.

Oh yes, isn't it wonderful to see things grow?

We had some rain yesterday and Monday, today is sunny but a little nippy. I've been walking through the garden and noticed I have sproutlings coming out everywhere. There will be definitely need to move some things around. seems my four o'clocks and cleomes have sent seeds all over the place, I'll have to wait a little for the seedlings to get more established and then I'll have to move them - some of them are very close to the walking path.

My bearded irises are almost in bloom, the buds are almost open. I will post photos when that happens. My strawberries and blackberries are in bloom too, so is the weigelia and the annual fuchsia. And the lilies have flowerbuds already.

I got a new "batch" the following days after I posted the photos, so I was busy planting: 4 dwarf cherry-trees, 2 mock orange trees, 2 lilacs, 2white spireas, 1giant peony, 25 strawberries, 3 yuccas, 2 almost black roses, 1 climbing rose, 3 hedge roses, 6 hollyhocks, 4 trumpet vines and various bulbs of Dutch iris, shamrock and gladiolas, and put the seeds in the ground for sage and lavender.

I still need to get one more shipment, 6 more hollyhocks, 12 creeping phlox, 5 lily of the valley, 6 hardy hibiscuses, 4 butterfly bushes, 3 delphinium, 3 lupines, 40 lily bulbs, one more giant peony, 4 shasta daisies, a stevia plant, and two collections of perennials (20 plants each). And no, I am not spending that much, I order online from a company that sends you dormant plants, of course it takes a while before they grow  but it's only cents for them while you would pay more than 20 times the price if you would have gotten them from nurseries. This last shipment for example (and the sage and lavender seeds were on this invoice and so were the bulbs I already planted) was about $85 shipping included.

What I have listed before, and added to that 8 lilies, 6 Dutch irises, 4 windflowers, 6 grape hyacinth, 1 hardy fuchsia, 2 rhododendrons, 1 Arkansas Amsonia bush, 6 walk on me plants, 1 giant white pampa grass, to make the full 2 orders, they were together about $200. It was the birthday present from my boyfriend, among other things. As you can see, really rally cheap prices, but you need to wait a little longer before they grow to full potential.

Day:  Wow!  What a beautiful yard!  Keep posting photos as you add more to change it up.  Love the look of it -- exotic!  Hope everyone is fine.  I've been dragging my butt on life.  After my MIL's passing, an inheritance came to my husband (not big but enough coupled with our tight budget) so that he is retiring next Thursday.  He will be 59 in May. He spoke to our financial advisor who said with the rolling of the 401(k) into plans and my "continuing" to work -- he can get a check via the interest for the 401(k) and be able to not work any more.   He paid off the house.  SO, my work is the insurance and money for utilities type situations.  UGH!  Nothing really changes for me -- I drive (or ride bus) into Atlanta (43 miles one way) Monday - Friday.  So, I am trying to not have an attitude but it is hard.  :0  We only live 15 miles from his job but his job is one that is working him to death (7:30 till 5:30 -- not taking lunch most days).  Oh well, life just keeps rolling with its various angles, it seems!  I don't know how he will be as a "house husband" because he normally does not NOTICE the dust or laundry needs or anything -- so here we go again with one of life's curve balls.  :)  I am thinking if he drives me crazy -- I'll just whack him with a shovel and plant a beautiful flower garden over him.  :)  (JUST KIDDING for those of you who don't know my joking ways!)

Yea Day! Good News!  .. I could only wish for a yard big enough for all of the plantings you have...

When we move to Sacramento I was out voted on the big yards by the 2 men in the house.  I couldn't convince them that they could get rid of as much grass as they wanted..So no mowing  More room for me to plant.  But It never worked out that a house match the yard.. so I ended up with a yard kinda like the one we had in Southern Ca  very small..

Kim and any one else for that matter. Is anyone having a hard time with the work they did before 2010?  I really am not happy and have thoughts of I don't want to do this work any more, but then I think OK so what do I want to do  and  nothing come to mind... I missed my children and babies but really don't feel the need or want to put up with any of the adults any more!  I keep hoping this will pass but its only getting stronger. Told my DH this morning that I don't want to do it any more.. He suggested I ask about a desk job!  That idea just bores the bleep out of me!  Is any one else feeling so (don't know what I want!)  or is it just me!  I think I need some excitement! Something to make me go WOW!  winter blahs maybe

Sacophotomom:  What do you do?  I am a legal secretary and have felt that way at times too.  I would love to find a job closer to home but realistically it isn't there so I have to haul myself into Atlanta (43 miles -- traffic makes it 1.5 hours one way each day -- UGH!).  I must admit the attorney I work for are very nice / my benefits are excellent and I have some friends there -- so on the one hand -- it is a good place to be.  I think perhaps you are needing a vacation or another outlet for artistic expression.  I have my dachshunds which take up time but they make me laugh.  (As it turns out, my husband is retiring so it will be a few more years of me working with this. )  I keep saying a door will open when it is time.  Keep us posted.  I know the feeling --- it is like having a restless soul -- almost a deep part of us that doesn't want to have to deal with the fact that we had bc and all that involved.  It kinda redirected all of our "streams of life!!"  Some times I completely forget that I even had it -- which is great.  Hugs to you -- plan a day for yourself and go visit a friend that makes you laugh!  My husband and I watched on HBO the other night "Horrible Bosses" -- it is a bit much on the language and stuff at times -- but it cracked me up -- for all of us have felt we'd like to kill someone that we work for or with.  Perhaps see if you can rent that or get it on HBO and watch it!  HUGS!

Wow I haven't been on here since last fall.  I didn't realize how many of you were keeping up on here. I will have to take time to go back and read all the posts.  Today marks two years since I was diagnosed so I was thinking of all of you and how much you all helped me through the most difficult time of my life.  We should all be celebrating the two year mark so I wanted to say congrats to all of you.  We are all strong May Chemo Warriors.  I am still following my bull riders and enjoying my grandchild.  I am on Facebook at Linda Jackson Wells.  I know a few of you have friended me.

Or you can do "pallet gardening" which is awesome.

     more instructions:

Here are some of my irises in bloom (the bearded ones, the Dutch ones just bloomed this morning and I didn't take photos yet)

I created one more flower bed in the backyard and extended another one.

And some of my petunias (I'm crazy, I've been to all the nurseries around to get all the colors and shades of petunias I can find. I am curious how many I'll end up with)

wellsey, you sure should drop by more often!

Day love your profile photo!  I started doing the every color with Phlox last year.. This year I have 6 plants. One did not come up this year yet thinking it might have been dug out by a creature.   So far every color of pink I could find, looking for a purple.  And what ever else I can find.   Last year the white ones were almost as tall as me. I have a side yard that has mostly perennials  with some bulbs mixed in .  and then I fill with veggies. Mostly tomatoes and cucumbers.  and then herbs for greens and silvers.   I have transferred most of my dahlias to the front yard. Next to the driveway I had split them last year and keep moving them over.  Bought some loose bulbs a few years ago and they were not what they were supposed to be. Supposed to be Casa Blanca lilies and were generic Asian  ones.. I complained and they gave me a gift card for when they came in again told me to keep the others ..so bonus! I am currently starting a pot garden next to the house  I want some very large pots for some small trees and or roses, to hid the wall a little more.  Lots of sun on that side and don't want to burn them up either!

Kim I am a Photographer, I work mostly for a company photographing preschool.  This is what I have done since we move to Sacramento. before that I was in a studio.  I used to do only black and white, but have switched to color and digital. Mostly because I don't have a dark room here in Sacramento.  to rent one is crazy expensive here. I have told my bosses this week I can no longer work as much, I thought I could do it again. One thing my knees are killing me and I just cant move as fast, as necessary, for the children.. They are a quick little bunch of people.  LOL  and I find myself getting frustrated trying to keep up and not doing as good  job as I expect myself to do. I will continue Photographing all the friends and neighbors children for myself. Working a little for the company when they need me,  or need someone to assist but I just cant do it any more full time!

Hey Wellsey glad to hear your doing great!

Nana your gonna have to change your Name to Nanaof3! congratulations.

I will post pic of my garden soon If you go on my facebook page in my photos I there are some there too! Denise Coyne I am the one with the feet up relaxing watching TV.

Have a great week and month!

I agree, the photo of Day is absolutely STUNNING!  Cool!  Sacophotomom:  I understand -- just have to pace yourself and just enjoy life and not put undue pressure on your body.  I think as we get older, there is a tendency to "ignore" the "aging process" and be in denial -- at least for me.  I keep getting aggravated at myself for not getting more done at home than I do -- I blame my long drive and all -- but in reality, it is just age related to a degree and of course, I do think our bodies are just doing "restart" on getting better from the bc -- and certainly any medication we take impacts.  The gardens sound LOVELY!  Yes, I will shoot questions when I get to that point because I see there are some experts here and I am LOVING hearing about it.  On the baby note, I ordered stuff from babiesrus to have delivered to my son/daughter-in-law -- car seat and a little baby swing/cradle.  It was fun -- I told myself -- CONTROL and not over spend -- but that seems hard to do at times!  LOL!  Actually enjoying husband being retired -- he is much "nicer" and "relaxed" and that makes for a happy coming home to a person instead of the tensed up bear that he could be.  So grateful I got over the green jealousy monster that was hitting me at first.  :)  Hope you all are doing well and we will survive what I anticipate will be a very HOT summer.  :)  Grateful for the beautiful days we are having now and all the lovely roses that are blooming.  This year seems to be the year of the BLOOMS!  :)

Huh why is my photo stunning? I got a piece of the photo because I got tired of seeing my dark circles under the eyes. The light in this one made it so they dont' show so bad.

Anyway, I've seen my GP yesterday, and as per the Pain management doc's request (hes also a spine doctor) I had an xray of the cervical area done. I peeked in the CD (that I got for the pain management doc) and it looks like the degenerative disc disease I had got worse. And my thyroid is still pressing on the trachea a little. Anyway,I made a copy for the rheumatologist appointment tomorrow, as I thought he might want one.

The gallbladder ultrasound showed I have a great gallbladder, no issues with the canal, no weird spots on the liver, but... I have a fatty liver. The GP said not to worry too much and that it's probably from me putting on all this weight. He knows I barely drink a beer or two a year now, and I've never been a heavy drinker, so he said there's no way I have that from drinking, just the non-alcoholic type fatty liver. He said to not worry too much and to not start who knows what drastic diet to lose weight, as it is not a bad case, just mild and I'll survive it just fine, lol

Also, about the ground-glass nodules, he said that it's a 99,9% that they are scars from the dou8ble pneumonia I had back in 1994, and to not worry about the small area of collapsed lung as it's very common and everyone has that at one point or another. He said that if we'd get a CT scan now it's probably gone, especially if I did breathing extercises (which I did). And he also gave me a referral to PT to help with my range of motion and the iron bra that seems to have come back.

So, overall,  a pretty good visit. I will really miss him, he finishes his residency in a year and will move somewhere else, so in about 6 months he will transition me to another resident. He's a great doctor, even if he is so young (he's Asian and looks about 17 even if he's about 30 lol).

Tomorrow I see the rheumatologist, and I KNOW he will be totally pissed that I didn't take any of the medications he prescribed. Well, he prescribed Cymbalta for the fibro, and I am sorry, but for one I have issues about anti-depression medication - I know that once you take it you're hooked on it and you get depressed when you do not take medication. And I am not depressed and I have enough problems to take care of and do not wish to get depressed. Also, Cymbalta can have some weird side effects, but the most common that I will NOT want to deal with are weight gain and lack of libido. I am already struggling with the extra pounds, and with keeping a libido while on AI's, so no, thank you. The other two were Plaquenil and Mobic. Both with scary side effects and the first one being a TNF-inhibitor. When the "Great Poobah" (saw him a week ago) heard about it he started fuming. Said "tell your rheumatologist that you are not allowed to take any immune system suppressors. We didnt' work so hard to reduce your risk to have everything messed up by one medication. Take pain killers to control your pain and that is it. And tell him to call me if he has issues with what I said". I love him.

My lilies started blooming, the tomatoes have blooms on them too, and it's spring. I hope my boyfriend will be back in June (he is still in medical hold near San Antonio) and we will finally be able to get our life back from where we left it.

Big hugs for all of you!

Day:  Stunning in that you look absolutely beautiful!  Glad you are getting some positive feedback from doctors.  I understand the concern about anti-depressants -- when I've used them -- they tend to make me more sluggish / more sleepy.  But I do understand those people who need them in order to truly cope with life or else they wouldn't be here -- so I have that respect for them.  Hoping everyone is doing well!  My husband just got over a bout of having a small kidney stone -- he was in very bad pain and had to go to the hospital twice.  Yesterday he told me that he admired my strength during my cancer -- I told him I had plenty of his support and the love and support from friends and family -- it made all the difference in the world.  Hoping you each are all enjoying this summer and LIFE!  :)

I wanted to tell you ladies that in view of the recent changes on the board, the fact that the owners of the website use donated money to pay for un-necessary changes of the board instead of helping a bc patient/survivor, and the fact that they don't give a rat's dry turd about what their member think, I am leaving bc.org.

You can pm me for my facebook info if you want to keep in touch, and of course I will still be a member of the pictures forum.

Hi Warrior Sisters ~ I am so sorry for being MIA.  I've popped on the boards here and there and always plan on writing "later".  I'm ready to fall into bed right now but did want to jump on to say hi.  Something showed up on my CT scan and I am having a biopsy tomorrow morning of my thyroid node and a lymph node that is bigger than before on the other side of my neck.  Grrrr....   I'll be surprised if it's anything, but they want to double check.  I told my oncologist that I don't want to chase down every ache and pain, but he did think this warranted extra investigation.  So the ups and downs of this stupid cancer continue.  My girls were supposed to go for genetic counseling this week, but due to this new development, we thought we'd push it back a bit longer.

I'll do my best to drop in tomorrow and write more.  I am hoping that I'll have good news to share!

Love to each of you!  Happy Memorial Day!
