restaged, bone mets confirmed...
Hello!
my onc says he has never seen this before, but despite the MRI and bone scan being clear, the PET scan has shown multiple lesions to the spine, ribs, and sacrum. restaged now to 4. im still absorbing it all, and am actually concerned that i feel quite calm and even joke about it to try and help those around me. is this normal????
it seems my treatment now will be 5 days of radiation, and then an AI.
if i understand correctly, we try this until it doesn't work anymore, and then chemo, is this correct?
i am also doing iscador injections with my naturopath, and several naturopathic supplements for estrogen processing, as i am 8/8 progersterone and estrogen positive.
so looks like i am your new buddy here!!

Sharon....you are strong and happy...I don't think anyone would want you to change any of that!

I was quite calm when my bone met was found. I just wanted to know what the plan was and leap into action. I am quite calm by nature so I wasn't too surprised by my reaction. I had rads x15 to the met on my femoral head and am on Arimidex, I'm post meno, and monthly Aredia. I take some supplements to help with Arimidex se's, which haven't been bad and Effexor since my original dx ( I was stage II very briefly). Sorry you've had to join us but you will find some great women here.

Sharon,
Sorry about the bone mets. I have bone mets from the get go back in 6/09 along with ibc. I'm ER+ and on Femara & monthly Zometa. This treatment has worked well for me for almost the last 3 years. I get scans every 6 months and have to go in monthly for the Zometa so I'm monitored well.

so, it is normal to not do the chemo yet then?
thank you for your responses!

I can't really help ya with that question but ... I don't know that anything is "normal"...LOL
-
Sharon, I don't know if it's "normal" but it is standard of care!
I've had bone mets for almost 2 years, I'm on Femara and Aredia and have been stable.
Best of luck with treatments.
