Any March 2012 RADS out there?

Seams to Me,
Wonderful post. I'm glad you're so positive. Keep up that great attitude!!
Sidekick (Carlynn)

luvmygoats--Thanks for your post and for mentioning the Tylenol and Advil. I had meant to include in my previous post that the nurse said taking either of these for pain is fine as they will not interfere with the treatment.
As for the Aquaphor, it is a bit greasy but I find that even a very thin layer does the trick. I used to think of it as just fancy petroleum jelly, but I see now that it contains lanolin which probably gives it extra healing properties.

I am doing the happy dance because I am DONE!! I have a red/tannish breast that itched a little along the way but no other SE's. My RO and his staff were wonderful. Came home to the most beautiful card I have ever received from my husband in 27 years. A really really good day. Good luck to all the March rads on the rest of your journey!
-
Congratulations, Carolinames, on being a breast cancer TREATMENT survivor!
-
Great news, Carolinames! Glad to hear your SE's were minimal.
-
Thanks MizMarie & Snoopsmom. The next stop on the journey is either Tamoxifen or an AI. The MO is doing a blood test next week to see if the chemo put me into official menopause. I had no signs of it before chemo. Guess I'll be hanging out on the Tamoxifen board! : )
-
Carolinanames - I have 11 more rads to go...5 regular and 6 boosts....then I'm on to Arimidex. I'm way into menopause (almost 65 years old) so it was pretty cut and dried for me.
-
Well here I am a week (or so) later. I finally have some color. We can now see that the rash is indeed part of the radiation. It still isn't bad, just itchy on occasion. The whole breast shots are done and I've had two boosts which will continue next week.
It will be so strange not capping my work day off by going to radiation. I can go back to my normal working schedule which will be nice.
I'm assuming that most of the "March" people are either finished or close to being finished. I know that most feel like this drags on, but I for one can't believe how quickly the time went. But then I feel like all time seems to go quickly. Could be the age.
Good luck to everyone and keep using those creams, I truely believe it helps!
-
One more whole breast tx to go, then 8 boosts. My armpit is looking red and is a bit painful, but all in all, I've done well. Can't wait to be done!
-
I'm still here too. I have 3 more whole breasts and 5 boosts to go. I've been lurking on the April/May thread too
-
last boost tomorrow! 28 whole breast rads and 4 boosts down, 1 boost to go. I just look like I got a serious tan. I am fair skinned and it has turned brown already. A little itching and tightness but that is it. I had a mx and there is No skin breakdown or blistering. I am so thankful! After 9 months of active treatment I am one day away from the end of it. I am looking forward to, not a new normal, but a brand new beginning. Lots of healing love and health to all of us. Cheers!
-
The entire time I put vitamin e mixed with organic virgin and unrefined coconut oil on it. I did it atleast twice per day and more when I remembered. I love that stuff, it is good for sooo much and inexpensive.

Yahoo tisthyme!!
-
Congrats, Tisthyme!
For me: 23 down, 10 to go! Or, 2 more regular, plus 8 boosts. I had boost simulation today and will have the first tx on Friday. I have some swelling and definitely am red; hopefully it won't get too much worse.
-
Hi MizMarie, I just wanted to tell you that my boost area got pretty red by the time I was done. I had 7 boosts total. Now that I've been done for a couple weeks, it's getting better. It's less itchy and sore now, and my skin has started to peel. It does get better the week or so after treatment. Hang in there!
-
Congrats to those who have finished!! 5 more regular to go for me, plus 8 boosts. My skin is quite tan now and tight, with darker spots. Its rather fascinating to watch the progress. I'm still able to go to yoga even though I'm pretty tired--moving around definately helps with my fatigue.
Girls: we can do this!!
-
I finished today! Thought I was going to finish tomorrow, but the RO said she thought my skin had had enough. She said she schedules more treatments than she might need--better than scheduling fewer and telling the patient they have to come longer! I had a total of 32 treatments, 4 of which were boosts. I am now finished with treatment. Yippee!!!!
-
Congratulations Mary -- wonderful news --- celebrate !!
-
Hooray for Mary! Doing the happy dance for you!
-
I just finished 28 treatments and then 5 boosts yesterday! I am tired but it may be due to other factors like driving an hour and a half to treatments everyday, my washer quitting, my air going out and my sons graduating this week.......just life in general.
Since I'm going to be having all this extra time now I need to focus on exercising and get some of the energy back sooner rather than later!
-
Guess this will be my last post to this board. I completed the radiation treatments yesterday. I was given a diploma of completion. Now it's just the getting back to normal. My one friend who knows about the whole deal brought me a cute card and congratulatory balloon and then my husband took me out to dinner. Onwards and upwards. Best of everything to all . . .
-
I had my final whole breast radiation yesterday. I've finally experienced redness. It looks like a sunburn in my armpit and under the breast, but it doesn't hurt at all. On Monday I start the first of 6 boosts. We'll see what kind of reaction I have with that. I can't believe it's almost over.
-
Joanne 53..Hiya I am in Oakville and have been going to Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga for my BC treatments. I just finished 16 rads 4 weeks ago. It seems to me we got the lower dose of radiation cause a lot of the women in the rad area were getting many more treatments than I did.
I also had a lumpectomy with months of chemo. Am pretty well back to normal now with just a few SEs..none too unbearable. Even my hair is visible finally. I found the radiation to be no big deal. I am on Arimidex for 5 years as well.
-
Hi schatzi14 -- I am at Juravinski Cancer Centre -- my 16th is Tuesday but just found out Friday that I have to have 25 so finish up on May 15 --
5 years of Tamoxifin which I just started 3 weeks ago ... no effects that I can see -- all is good or at least as good as it can be.
-
Well, I came to say good-bye to everyone here. I finished my rads today. I had just a little redness, like a sunburn, but no pain or discomfort and no fatigue at all. Now if the Arimidex has the same non-effect on me, all will be good! I wish everyone here the best of luck on their journey. Stay strong!
-
Goodluck Snoopsmom -- all the best with your next part of this journey -- I am sure we will catch you on some other thread -- I have 5 treatments left and then have 5 years on Tamoxifen.
-
Snoopsmom, I am right behind you - tomorrow is my last day. Cheers to you for a long, cancer-free life.
-
I had my last radiation tx yesterday! My skin got pink from the boosts, but otherwise I'm fine. Good luck to all of you! Here's to good reports moving forward!
-
Right behind all of you too--4 more boosts and 5 years of Tamoxifen. Glad this is nearly done.
