What do you do to cope?
So today I find myself racing around inside my own head. I've not had an easy time of trying to figure out what is going on with my body, my breast, and my symptoms.
From what I know my struggle is more common then we ever want it to be but as of yet I have not posted photos, symptoms, etc. publicly because for me... It is one thing to spell it out in private, or say it... But once it is out there for the world to know it makes it almost final in the end results.
With that said... I've been doing things to make myself feel better lately. I am very interested in hearing what others do to make themselves feel better as well. I am putting this in the IBC section because this is where my worries lay right now.
In another thread we've already had some fun... There have been giggles over Twix bars, and hummus... Mention of cookies...
What I have done is:
I renoed my home, and organized closets to keep my mind off of things (though I am quickly running out of things to reno or organize)...
I've indulged in productive retail therapy... I realized shopping for bras or clothing right now makes me weepy so I changed my avenue of personal therapy and bougght things for my home. *cough* TV... Chair... Refoamed the couch... New pictures for the walls... Paint... Carpet... I will do more though as I said... Quickly running out of things to reno.
I listen to music... I have eclectic tastes but i may as well share. I'd love any songs others care to share as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WziA88-n02k - Because I was told to "get my anxiety checked" with visable symptoms - Matchbox Twenty - Unwell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WziA88-n02k - Because sometimes I feel weepy and full of fight all at once... That whole making a stance and fighting side of me - Cher - Haven't Seen The Last Of Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz02IIF20dE - Because sometimes I need to feel bold, strong, and in control of who I am as a strong woman and am tired of being expected to be quite, mild mannered and oh so Canadian in nature... Oh I love being an Alpha Female! - Storm Large - Ladylike - There is a PG13 version where the word is changed to What but hey... I am 31 and imbrace my inner trucker mouth! Please click whichever you prefer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuiwZaQ5JFk - Because sometimes you just need something that makes you want to tap your feet and bounce... Great Big Sea - When I'm Up (I can't get down)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aBLvjWnpfA - Because sometimes you feel like you are in a drunken stupor going through the motions of this. I always feel like saying "You'll have to excuse me... I'm not at my best..." all while tappingmy toes and spiraling in this crazy mess! - Spirt Of The West - Home For A Rest (Drunken Canadian Pub Songs... LOVE EM)
Then when all else fails I find some things on facebook that positively crack me up:
So... I hope I have shared some humour, some ideas, some entertainment... I'd love to hear anything else someone might have come up with.

This is great--I can do this on FB, but I can't on any other place--I'm comuter disabled as I've said many times----but keep them coming it's good to be and find fun in p laces where u'd least expect it. I've been stupid silly since I found out about what was going on and it worked for me--I found being serious alot is detrimental to this disease--I don't think it likes silly and going thu chemo all we did was laugh for hrs. The drs. and nurses too we made it different than usual and when new peole came in they thought it was going to be sad and depressing and instead they would say I haven't laughed this hard in so long. That was such a good feeling for all. Of course the drs. did say I was crazy and they told people so--didn't bother me at all. I did what I felt would make a happy place-we fought with a good feeling and I don't think that was popular but it's much nicer.

You all have given me the giggles big time, and amazing because I never expected to be on this forum laughing!!!
Thank you!!!!!

Ok ladies... time for some giggles. A la facebook:
Only in San Francisco!!!
On the beach this morning Barney came prancing up to me joyfully carrying this charming toy, washed ashore in the storm. Not only did I get to share this charming treasure, but so did everyone else walking on the beach. The elderly Japanese couple trying so hard not to laugh as he cavorted around and around them trying to get them to play with it, and then everyone in the parking lot.....
- at Ocean Beach. The one above kills me because it was shared on a mans wall... LMAO.
Now time for some hi's and hello's...
lorraine I am glad you got a laugh! Big hugs to you... Hopefully any time you need a pick me up you check the thread and there is something new. If not just hit reply and nudge me and I will hunt something up for you!
camillegal I laughed... I'm often the one making others laugh in the Dr's office and have had Dr's call me the crazy one. You are right... it is much nicer! Though sometimes under appreciated. My fave is when I get the Dr to choke on a laugh. Lately I've pulled it off with various tactics.
1.
Me: Dr... My CT scan said my uterus and ovaries appear normal.
Dr: That's great!
Me: But Dr there's just one thing...
Dr: What's that?
Me: You see Dr... I had a laproscopic hysterectomy June 8th, 2010.
Dr: So you're part Salamander?
We both cracked up.2.
Me: Dr... You need to understand ia m very in tune with my breasts. They are a rather large part of me... And enter every room before I do.
Dr typically chokes on laughter. My family is typically good for some giggles too... One of my all time fave lines that my dd pulled off was this:
There I am on the phone reading something to my friend. "It's all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits..."
DD turns from watching tv... looks at me and very dead pan says:
"That would be me."We have a lot of giggle time in our house. Other wise we'd all go insane. Oh wait... probably already there but hey. It's all good. Unfortunately dd is 8 so it's often focus around fart humour.
crystalphm I am glad you giggled... Sometimes the unexpected is just what we need. I started the thread because I was having one of those days where I needed to share some giggles. Glad you found the thread!
Hey Bon... I've been chilling in the chat room a lot, and posting a bit more widely on the board. No worries though... I've not forgotten the thread. I just needed to be in a giggly mood.
-
Luv, Luv, Luv this thread. Keep them coming. Hard work day coming up but I laughed so much I almost spit out my coffee. THANKS CuterWCurves
-
luvmygoats... Yeah set the coffee down before re-opening this one...
My pleasure!
Ok... So often I post pics I see on the net. But sometimes I have been known to over hear something in public or even say something that is so absolutely amusing it becomes "The Quote Of The Day"... If someone makes the quote of the day in my world it is sometimes either pee your pants funny or a pure facepalm moment. They tend to make people laugh though so I am going to share a few before we start with the fun pics:
So yesterday I was completely remiss... I failed to add "The Quote Of The Day"... So here it is. Belated but still JUST as entertaining to me. 20 minutes after establishing with a Dr that I've had a hysterectomy... The Dr says to me "Is there any chance that you could be pregnant?" BWAHAHAHAHAHA
Quote of the day: Waxy floors + urinal = near miss! - overheard in public! W00T!
Quote of the day: Just DON'T blow my tranny! (Said this to a friend as we were driving into the city. Joke is we were neighbourhood appropriate for the double entendre)...
And of course the wisdom of others:Today's words of wisdom from someone else: When things end you just hope that the dirty ho he ends up with gives him incurable VD's.
Just sayin... *looks innocent*
And... Caught in a bad romance... Makes me giggle. My friends daughter is singing along singing "Caught in a big old man"... HAHAHAHA
OMG have to add this:
-
I was having fun searching them up this morning... well crud. It is after midnight so yesterday morning. Maybe this is why I am tired tonight? Oh well... will pay for it tomorrow. ;-)

quote of the day: "I put my chocolate in the freezer so my bunny can be shaved."
