Hi there all
I am so glad I have found this site to read other people stories, even though it is awful being diagnosed with breast cancer it is nice to be able to share. I was diagnosed with TNBC in January of last year. I had a full mastectomy, and 4 rounds of T/C. I couldn't have radiotherapy as I had it 20 years ago for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. I also had chemo back then too.
I have been really bad lately worrying about it coming back, and I was wondering if any one else feels like this too? I have got to the stage where it is on my mind constantly, and as for going to check ups I completely fall to pieces!
I am sure I wasn't this worried with my lymphoma, I think having children has changed my perspective on things.
Anyway once again I am very glad to have found this website.

Hi Lizzie, Welcome and I'm sorry you had to join this site but glad you found us. You have really been through a lot, no wonder you are so scared. You will get lots of great advice and support and met some wonderful people here. I know how hard it is having BC and not worry if you will get a recurrance or mets, I'm about 2 years out from last chemo and I think it probably took me a little over a year to not be so scared of every ache and pain. It does occasionally cross my mind but for the most part I just try to enjoy life and try not to think about it. If you wanted to talk to some ladies who are TN (triple negative) you could go to the upper right hand side where it says search and type in Triple negative ladies and it will take you to different threads you can click on. My daughter was TN stage/grade 3c and she is doing great now and is 3 years out. Being here will help to calm your fears and you will met a lot of ladies or men who are years out of there treatments and doing fine. The threads seem to run a little slower late at night or on the weekends I will check back tomorrow and bump this up so you can hear from a lot of caring supportive women. God bless and please keep us posted
Gentle hugs

Thank you Debbie, it is a wonderful site, and I feel very glad to have found it. I guess I am extra worried as I have so many aches and pains these days (which is probably due to getting older, more than anything
), however having read many of the stories, it makes me fell so much better.
Thank you for your kind words
Regards

Hi Lizzie- glad you found BCO. You will get lots of support here. I know for me the first year was ruled by my need to get treatment and have surgeries and all the physical things done and now a year later my mind is kind of catching up and my emotions are all over the place. I have heard some on this site say it takes 2 years to really move on so I am hanging in there; glad to be here! Sending a hug your way!

Lizzie, just came across your post. I actually usually stay on one thread composed of ladies from my state. I was "drawn" to your post, however, so here I am. It is all very scary, and yes, children can be a real game changer when it comes to worry. Why not tell someone you are getting to be thinking about all this too much and perhaps by talking to someone, it can lead to other ways you can unload your worries (meditation, long walks, meds if needed and just connecting). Do keep coming back here. I have been on BC.org for five years(I had cancer five years ago and "KNOCK ON WOOD" I am okay. People here really get the scared thingy. Why not talk about yourself a bit. How old are your kids? How old are you and YES aches and pains come with age. Are you workin? It does take time to move on, but you can lessen some of the anxiety by reaching out. Reach out all you need to on this thread and good luck.

Lizzie- I think what you're feeling is very normal. I'm actually walking out the door in a few minutes to go to my GP to have some shoulder pain checked out which is not going away. I can't help but worry if it's something more serious even though rationally I know it's probably not. I think once you know your body is capable of making even one little cancer cell some innocence is lost. I asked my Mom, who had cancer, if that worry ever goes away. She said, for her, not entirely but it does get much, much better. There is a thread that I'm on where we talk about the emotional healing after you're done with the physical healing. There are some wonderful women on there. I'll post a link in case you're interested in reading/posting. The name of the thread is "Great saying about depression". Don't let the title throw you. It's not about depression as much as it is about healing.

Hello all, thank you all so much for your kind words, I actually feel much better after reading all the posts. There is that saying 'A problem shared is a problem halved', how true is that!
Susan to answer your question I am 45, and I have three girls Emma who is 10, and 8 year old identical twin girls, Paddy and Georgie
They are just wonderful and I love them to pieces!! The Cancer Society over here in NZ provide counselling, and I might look at going back there, my husband is very supportive, but sometimes he doesn't know what to say to me!
I think the reason I get so worried is that I have a constant pain on my right side, I had my gall bladder out as well last year and I still have pain, my bloods are all good, so I hope it is residual pain? If it gets worse I will get it checked out.
Kate, how did it go with you and your doctors appointment? I hope everything went alright there! I will check out that link as well, it all helps tremendously!
I also found a thread on this site about women who previously ad lymphoma like I did and now have breast cancer, I was shocked at how many there were.
Once again, fantastic site, and thank you all so very much.

Lizzie- My doctor appointment went well- thanks for asking! She thinks I have arthritis in the shoulder. (I thought that's what old people got- does that mean I'm OLD? lol!) She's sending me for an x-ray just to be sure and wrote a script for some PT. I hope your pain gets better, but if not get it checked out if only for peace of mind. Glad you're feeling better. (((hugs)))

Kate, so glad to hear your doctors appointment went well!! Phew. I even get nervous going to the doctors these days. Let me know how your x-ray goes.
Regards

Lizzie- Just wanted to give you an update. My x-ray came back normal (such a relief) and there's no arthritis (another relief) so now she's recommending PT for the shoulder. Thinks it's just a soft tissue injury so fixable. How are you doing?
