I can't believe she left me!
One of my best friends, who lives in my building, just left tonight to move to Austin, TX. She is the one who said to me, when I told her of my diagnosis, "Thank God it's only cancer, I thought you were going to tell us that you were moving!" I love her!! I will miss her so much...
One love, Jackie

Awww, I'm so sorry Jackie! One of my best friends moved (husband got transferred) to Kansas the day of my last chemo. It was heart wrenching! She came over and hung with me the night of my first chemo and rubbed my forehead because I had such a bad headache.
The ending to the story? 6 years later, they are back in MN (another transfer) and we get to see each other again.

Can't believe I am sitting here tearing up from this. Perhaps because we did 20 years moving with the military and leaving friends behind is always so difficult. It was wonderful getting to experience new places and to make new friends, but I now have parts of my heart all over the United States and Europe and nowhere to move where I don't miss somewhere else.
Anyone who has the quick wit to say "Thank God it's only cancer..." is a friend worth keeping for a lifetime.

(((((Jackie)))) We're so sorry! Just know you have all of your virtual buddies right here!
(And I hear Austin is really, really fun! I'd start planning my trip, if I were you

Well......set up a time to talk, brew up some coffee, and load Skype!!!
And since Austin is such a cool place, have her share some of the coolness via Facebook.
I don't think my friends forgave me for relocating to Seattle more than 5 years ago, but I needed a fresh start. One of the best things I ever did for myself.
So not the end of your relationship, and fortunately, it's easier now than ever to remain in touch. From her end, it sounds like the most exciting adventure ever. - Claire

I 2nd Claire's Skype suggestion. My friend and I used to grab our coffee and head out to my patio or her patio on Saturday mornings and chat. We did this via Skype quite a few Saturdays. It took more planning, but she was able to show me her newly planted garden and i was able to show her how my new neighbors were destroying her old one. (haha, sorry, I wasn't happy)

Thanks everyone! I will have to consider the Skype idea, what a great world we live in! LOL about the garden Bugs!
Big hugs... Jackie

Howdy neighbor!
Sorry to meet under these circumstances and so sorry about your friend leaving but with computers and Skype you can visit often. I thought I was the only one living here in Brooklyn but I see I was wrong. What part of Brooklyn are you from or if you'd rather not say you can pm me, maybe we can share some experiences. Who know she may return one day.....
