Hi gals, I am just checking in to see how everyone is.  I am okay, I can't believe I made it the two weeks at work because I was sooo anxious.  Okay, did anyone get a script for Magnesium Citrate Solution?  My PS told me to drink it this afternoon and my surgery is Monday morning at 8:00 am.  I am having BMX with immediate diep reconstruction.  He said the script would clean out my intestines so that when he goes to work he will be able to flatten out my stomach even more?  He said the intestines need to lay as flat as possible?  I don't know.  If anyone else had to do this please write me back.

    thanks,  jenny

YAHOO-- GABSBABA--- YOU ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!!!!!  So happy you are home.  Yes, that was a Mack truck that ran over you and yes, you in not so many words, were cut.  But now you are home. in your comfy bed surrounded by your boys.  Sending lots of positive calming and healing prayers, thoughts and energy.  I will go to chemoland before you but we will always travel together. xoxoxoxoxo

Gabsbaba- You made me laugh and that really hurt. I'm laughing because I said that I felt like I got hit by a bus, twice. Everything freak'n HURTS. Can't sit, stand, or lay down.

I am glad you are home. We can compare gripes. Try to get some rest.

Best wishes to everyone healing and everyone at the start to their journey.

Gabsbaba . . . OMG . . . you totally cracked me up. Congrats on being home. REST. REST. REST. The truck will get off you eventually . . .

    Jenny . . . I'm doing TE's . . . so I'm sorry that I can't help at all . . . I don't know anything about that.

While this is not my first time perusing these boards since I was diagnosed on MLK Day, this is my first time posting. My masectomy is scheduled for April 25th. Yes, quite some time has passed, and I still can't tell you what stage the disease is in! I was being treated at a major, well-reputed cancer center and decided to seek care elsewhere. The folks were competent and most were kind enough, but the hospital I am going to now makes me feel more like a survivor rather than just a patient, and that matters very much to me.  In the past few months, I've visited this site often as I prepared for conventional treatment with complementary care (e.g. Reiki, acpuncture, qi gong, what didn't I do!), and it's been of great comfort and information to me. Now the first major step in treatment, I wanted to stop lurking and start interacting and to thank you all for the support you've already provided without even knowing me. I bet there are lots of women out there just like me.

CityFi - Welcome and get the great support to help you with your journey. .  I had my UMX in March 2012 and crossed over here to continue supporting and providing a little info to some wonderful gals I met along the way who have surgeries this month.  Start chatting here and you will find you are definitely among friends who will tell you how it is--- good and the not so good.  HUGS to you!!!!

Gabsbaba -- welcome back!  so sorry to hear about the truck!  hoping it drives off real soon! feel good!!!

CityFi - welcome.  You are having your mastectomy on my Birthday!  2 days after my BMX.  I'll include you and all the rest of the ladies on the site on my birthday wish list.  wishing all a speedy and complete recovery.  i see you are in NYC...curious about which hospital you switched from (sloan?) and where to?  i'm at Sloan.

Melrosemelrose, thank you for such the warm welcome.

Longislandmom, thanks for the welcome, too. Wishing you decades upon decades of healthy and happy birthdays to you! I was at Sloan and switched to NY Presbyterian. Like I said, the folks there were competent, but I felt that NYP was more of a fit for me. It just so happens a friend of mine (a six-yer survivor who I call her my BC godmother) is a patient navigator. She introduced me to others and so whenever I have a doctor's appointment, it's like tea with the gals. Also, much of the staff there is Latina/bilingual, and since my elderly mother insists on going on my appointments, it's also a comfort to her (and of great support to me) when folks speak to her in Spanish.

CitiFi -- sounds like you found the right place for you.  since beginning this journey, everyone has said to me on all of the decisions..."go with your gut."  we are fortunate in ny area to have so many wonderful choices.

i can feel the nerves started to kick in again (after several week hiatus) as i enter the one week countdown.  ugh.

Today is day 4 post-op and I actually got up and did dishes and laundry. I think that will be it for today though. The pain is better other than one of the drains. My back has really hurt because of sleeping in weird positions so last night I stuck one of those stick on heat packs on my back and it really helped. I was hot sleeping, but the pain was so much better. I am trying to get some range of motion back in my arms, but I think it will be impossible until the drains are out. I have 3 drains and in the past 24 hours I have gotten 35 , 26.5, and 47 cc's out of them. The surgeon said once they are under 60 cc's she will take them out. I am hoping for tomorrow. I put a regular shirt on today and looked liked Olive Oil, flat as a pancake. Looking forward to the fills.

Lisamarie- My doc gave me some xanax and I had to take 2 just to get throught the pet scan. They do help calm you down. Maybe you can ask your doc for some.

Welcome Citifi- You are among friends here.

Someone had mentioned picking up stool softners prior to surgery. I wish I had seen that post before mine. I will be sending someone to the store for some of those.

I actually am wearing jeans today. I couldn't deal with pj's and sweats anymore.

lisamarie68 - KEEP COMING BACK HERE AND TALKING!!!!!  We are always here for you.  As for your friends, you have to just open the door and let them in.  If you are like me, I had always been so used to doing things for myself and very independent.  Now things are a little different and I now know I can't do everything and need the chatter and company of my gal pals that I  had before I started this journey.   The fact that you already recognize and acknowledge how you are feeling, you can do something positive to help yourself and move forward.   You know that if I lived up where you are, I'd be knocking at your front door right now or maybe banging on it for you to let me in. HUGS and lots of them!!!!!

Dianarose, It was I who mentioned stool softeners--Colace is my best friend because pooping is a good thing! My 4 drains are still in with 2 of them putting out less than 15 cc, one with 35 cc and one with 30 cc. MY PS says they must  be less than 20CC b4 he will pull them. I am a nurseof 31 years, and they offered to let me pull them and I said "#*||, no!" I might faint!

Showering is the best! Oh the things we take for granted until we lose them!

To Aussie1, Jennyrjd,  Plymouth, Jayme ,Rtnyc ,Longislandmom, and doulamom, Love and Prayers for your surgeries this week. Ask God to be good to you, and He will. I carry you in my heart this week!
