borntosurvive, thanks for asking about the prickly scalp feeling as the stubble grows in. i too have felt it (very similar to when i lost my hair) & was scared i might start losing what little i have
good to know those ahead of us felt it too as their hair grew in -> PHEW!!
FABULOUS hairs pics too ladies!! thank you so much for posting as it's very encouraging & helps so much in what to expect. i'm 3 weeks PFC tomorrow with 1/4 growth (white/silver & black in color).
for olive oil, i'm massaging it on my scalp nightly & letting it soak in. i've only been using it for 3 nights so no results but i'll try just about anything at this point!! i ordered Biotin pills, shampoo & BioSil pills from Amazon a few days ago... eagerly awaiting arrival!!

slak - I've been using rogaine since before the 1st TC treatment...knowing what was coming my way..lol. My MO didn't seem to have a problem with it. I also use it on the eybrows using a q-tip. It obviously didn't prevent going bald...but my thought was maybe it would kick in quicker after chemo since it takes a while for it to do it's thing. So far the eyebrows have thinned but I have hair coming in immediately, but slowly right behind the ones that have fallen out. I started growing hair almost immediately after losing it and I now have a 1/4 inch of white/brown hair on the top of my head. The sides are thinner, but the hair is pretty much the same length. The back is alittle thinner all round - overall it seemed to slow down and thin out a bit again after the 3rd treatment - I'm a week away from the last treatment and it seems to be coming in again, if I look close in a mirror, I can see more dark hair filling in. I'm hoping the last treatment doesn't knock any of it out. If it holds on, it seems to be a pretty good start on the regrowth. I also shampoo and condition with Nioxin every day just like I had a full head of hair.

Are any of you on Arimidex? Can you tell me if it slows down your hair growth? My oncologist said that it wouldn't. Just curious, I know that I have to take it either way.
Thanks, Denise

Carrol2 Thank you for posting the timeline of your hair growth. I'm almost 8 months PFC, and I guess I have the right amount of hair - it might be a little longer than yours at 32 weeks (if you straigten out the curls, it covers my ears), so that's a big relief.
I'm going to have keratin done this month, as I'm tired of my wig feeling like its going to pop off, so I figure its time - the people who know me will deal with me in a BB cap until the bangs grow enough, and the people that don't, - well, tough... LOL
Thank you - that really is helpful.
-
Denise - I take Arimidex - my hair is growing 1/2" month.
-
I used to do hair and 1/2" a month is normal hair growth. Nioxin and Minioxidal are good products also prenatal vitamins but don't know if you can take those. I'm still in treatment, 3 more to go plus rads. I did hear the lashes and brows go last and come back first.

peachy looking good girl!
itsjustme thanks for taking the time to let me know I was helpful to you. It means a lot to me to be able to ease the fears and give hope to my fellow sisters.

Peachypie-Your hair looks awesome!!
I am excited now to be done with chemo...my hair started growing in around my 7th Taxol. It is really getting thick now. It was really grey and it starting to darken up. My DH loves to rub my head....I go topless at home in front of almost anyone....I am who I am and this is what it is.....it does get chilly at times so I will put a hoodie on for warmth...I find the scarves and wig annoy my hair growing in...very prickly. Since Taxol...I have 4 eyebrow hairs on the right and one on the left. I am going to get my eyebrows tatooed on. All the nurses at chemo have had it done and they look awesome. The hair will grow in over it and any that don't will get plucked. My eyelashes are all missing and I look forward to those growing....hate when there is a lot of wind! so much dirt a flyin'
-
I'm on Arimidex, well the generic version of it and I haven't noticed any hair loss. I'm nine months PFC and I had my first trim today. My hair is thicker than before and I love it, hoping that it stays like that.
-
I'm 6 weeks PFC and the only hair growing is on my lip! Wtf!
-
Thank you all! It feels good not having to wear my wig which I fondly called Lola. LOL I am going to give her a bath, condition her and box her up for donation, she served me well.
I have 2 other wigs I never wore, I am going to donate them as well. I love reading all of your posts, and hope you're all doing well. It's slow going, but the hair does come back. Mine was all gray and white, so I had it colored 2 weeks ago. I am already getting gray roots, so I know it's growing! Even had my eyebrows waxed last weekend and had a pedicure! Felt so good!
-
Peach - I named by wig Lola too! LOL!
-
My wig also has a name - I call her Sheila!
Today is the day... I'm going to apply my DIY color and leave Sheila at home when I go run errands. eek!
-
I can't wait for my hair to come back - my last chemo (taxol) was 9th March but there doesn't seem to be any progress yet...where is the white fuzz??
This is my second time on chemo and my oncologist said my hair is likely to take longer this time to re-generate ... my eyebrows and eyelashes came back fully within 3 days of falling out the first time (I was on biotin) but it's been a whole month this time...grrhhh!
I keep telling myself to be paitent....
-

Heather it looks great! Love your blouse!

Thank you ladies. I wish I could calm it down. It's like a giant puff ball. I'm hoping as it gets longer it gets weighed down a bit more.
-
Hey Ladies,
Did any of you have your hair start to grow back during Taxol? I understand it's not as bad as the AC in terms of strength....just wondering when I can expect my hair to start regrowth. My last Taxol will be August 15th.
Thanks!
((((HUGS)))
Caitlin

Also wondering if your hair starts to grow back during radiation? Just trying to figure out WHEN I will have hair. Pretty sad since I've only been bald a week!
-
My hair began growing back about 4 weeks after I finished chemo on April 29 2009,by christmas I had a lovely flick out style in it and had blonde highlights...3 years on its very thick and grows at an astonaishing rate.I keep it in a bobbed style now but need to get it cut every 6 weeks to maintain it.I wore my wig until a week before christmas,as I didn,t like very short hair.I still think the hair loss was the worst part of my experience, however it does grow back .Best of luck and stay strong
-
Onvacation - my hair started to grow back two weeks after chemo and grew well during radiation. I don't think it had any impact at all.
-
Thanks Michelle - that is the answer I was hoping for!
