Nana, it's a free app called my fitness pal. It's a great tool. You can even scan items in with a bar code. It's great for realizing just how much a serving is. You can log in your excercise also. There is another great free app called map my ride. That works well with walking & bike riding & such. Good luck.
Have a great day everyone. I'm off to work. Hopefully I won't be exhausted today so I can walk or bike ride. Don't forget lots of water!!! -
Hi, everyone!!!! Thank you, I am so glad that it was just a floater as well. I was a little worried. Tenaj, the doctor said the same thing, as we age, the floaters may become more of a nuisance!! I hope yours are not bothersome. Yes, I would love to know about that app!!! We are off to ride bikes and back to a normal eating routine. Have a great day, everyone!!!!!!
-
Hi all,
I'm back at work after spring break. Getting back into better habits again. Breaks are tough for me because we tend to be out running around and eating out more etc...
I plan to walk this afternoon while DS is at golf.
Have a great day.
-
Hi, CookieMonster, enjoy your walk, beautiful day today? Does your son play on the golf team at school? Great sport! I just came back from a bike ride, trying to eat better this week, too!!!!
-
Hi Kindergarten - it is a beautiful day here today. DS is only in 3rd grade and just does a 1 day a week golf after school activity. He enjoys it, but his sport focus right now is on soccer.
Good luck with the food focus today - I'm doing pretty well, but not perfectly, but it's not about perfection.
-
I was never good with the perfection thing.....well said, CookieMonster !!! Sounds like you keep busy with the activities.
Kindergarten, do you have an iPhone? If so, My Fitness Pal & Map My Ride are free apps. You can keep track of your daily intake, even make your own recipes & figure how many calories. Map my ride also allows you to track your miles with activities, show you your route & how many calories you burned. When I do it, it make me accountable. Had a busy day & got home late so I'm passing on the exercise. One more day of work this week and then have a bunch of days to take good care of myself. Did well with eatting today but poor on the water. I will do better tomorrow.
Have a wonderful evening ladies. -
Today food was the enemy. Was offered a cupcake and accepted. I did walk to get DS from school (and on the return trip we moved faster than the traffic - gotta love LA traffic).
This evening I'll lay off the food - maybe I'll balance my checkbook, that should take a decent chunk of the evening.
I've acquired a mild headache - irritating but not enough so to drive me to take medicine. Hopefully it'll resolve soooner than later.
Have a great evening everyone!
-
Dear CookieMonster, Hang in there, you are allowed one cupcake and you walked, good for you!!!! We were just in LA traffic. It is crazy!!!!! We spent the day at the Camarillo outlets. It was fun and I found a Mother of the Groom dress for our son's wedding. I still have at least 10lbs to go so that it fits loosely. I just could not pass up this dress. Hope your headache gets better!!! I am finding now that as long as I exercise consistently, I can cheat once in awhile. I took ATeamNana's advice and don't eat after 7pm. It really helps. Tenaj, Thank you for the info, hubby has an I-phone, I need all the help I can get. Thanks for sharing!!! Enjoy your days off and take good care of yourself!!!! Hugs, Kathy

Hi everybody.....checking in late today. Worked a long day but was able to take my walk in the morning again. I'm glad too, because a really cold wind blew in this afternoon and we have a freeze watch out for tonight again. It will be really chilly tomorrow morning. Trying to get back to normal eating again too.
Kathy, glad that your eye floater wasnt serious! One of the things I like least about growing older is the changes in my eyesight. I used to read all the time and now I find that I need reading glasses and have to have whatever I am reading right under a bright light. If I read too long....the pages start to get blurry. I havent read a good novel in awhile and I miss that. So happy for you that you found the dress for the wedding!
Cookie......I struggled with eating today too. Didn't do badly at work but once I got home started nibbling. Was still indulging in some Easter candy although I think I have had my fill of it....its not even tasting that good anymore but I find myself mindlessly eating a handful of jelly beans every now and then.
tenaj......I needed to drink more water today too. If work is busy I don't even think of getting a drink. That is something I need to work on everyday. When I am at home I try to get a drink everytime I go into the kitchen, but at work I can't believe I can be there 8 hours and not drink anything! Goal for tomorrow is try to go get a drink of water at least once every hour!
Kathy, Cookie, Tenaj, Ateam......and everybody have a good day tomorrow. It takes a bit longer after a holiday to get back on track but we will do it. hugs from me too! judy
-
Hi everyone. Jaytee. I like the drink every hour idea. I am so bad about not drinking water.
I'm late on here tonight and can't hardly keep my eyes open so will check in tomorrow. Nite all!!! -
Good morning all! Lots of water for me today! I'm glad the candy & Easter pie are all gone!!
Jaytee, that is great you get to walk before walk. I'm up pretty early so that's not happening when I work. Hopefully I get to ride the bike or walk when I get home.
Kathy, what color is your dress? You must feel relieved now that you have the dress. You have been so good, you will loose the 10 lbs!!
Have a great day all!!
(((hugs))) -
Hi,Jaytee!!! I love walking in the morning, the air feels so good. And I just heard that exercising in the morning and before you eat is the best!!! I did buy some good readers at Costco and I am starting to read again.ATeamNana, thank you again for the tip of not eating after 7pm, and I sometimes forget to drink water too, so everytime I drink a glass, I refill it and leave it on the counter or frig to remind me, but I know it is hard to remember!!!! Tenaj, good job on the water, you gave us that tip, thank you so much. My dress, believe it or not is black with a cute jacket. I love black and my future DIL, said Go for it. The men are wearing gray suits, so it will compliment them. DIL's mom is so sweet and she told me to get whatever I wanted. It is an evening wedding at a winery!!! I so appreciate you all and thank you all for your friendships here. Hugs!!!! Kathy
-
Kathy, my favorite color to wear is black. Your dress sounds lovely, you will look gorgeous!! The winery will be a special place for a wedding. Look forward to hearing about it!! :-)
I didn't get home too late today so we went for a bike ride. Had some leftovers for dinner & going to relax the rest of the evening. Enjoy ladies. -
Hi, Tenaj, Black is my favorite color, too!!!!! Bike rides are fun, we went to the gym this morning and then walked. Please enjoy your evening!!!!! Hi to everyone here and Hugs!!!!!
-
Today was weigh day for me. I had surgery a week ago and when I weighed a day after surgery it seemed I was up. Guess it was fluid from surgery. So, after about 5 weeks of bouncing around the same weight, this morning I was 1 pound lower than my lowest weight in this weight loss journey. Back on track? I sure hope so.
I plan to walk while DS is at soccer practice today. Have a great day everyone!
-
Congratulations,CookieMonster, you are definitely on track, and because I read your post this morning, I am going to be a good girl all day, healthy eating for me!!!! Thank you!!!!! We are off to ride bikes!!!! Hugs to all of you and weigh in is tomorrow for me!!!!
-
So glad tomorrow is Friday!!! I have drifted back into bad eating habits this week and I am going to lunch with a friend tomorrow. Hopefully I will do better next week. Sounds like you are all doing great. I have managed to stick with the not eating after seven most nights. Just have had tooo many opportunities to eat the wrong things this past week. Night all! Happy Friday!
-
Good morning ladies!! Running late this morning so just going to say a quick hello. Had a bad eating day yesterday. Had to work til 6, then as soon as I got home had to take daughter out so we could find something she needed for Prom this weekend. We ended up stopping at Chipotle on the way home. It was already after 7 and I could have just eaten half of my dinner and saved the other half for lunch today but I ate the whole thing!! Then husband made coffee and had brought cookies home. Ended up eating 3 cookies!! Probably could have resisted if I hadn't poured myself a cup of coffee. Sigh...will try better today. I have done a little better about drinking water at work...not quite making my goal of every hour but getting there. Take care everybody..............hoping your day will be a good one! judy
-
Hi, Judy, We stopped at Chipolte too last night on our way to Pirate Dodger game with our son. We had the bowl, no tortilla, but Yikes went on the scale today and gained 3 lbs from last Friday!!! That's it, I am going on the 17 day diet, heard it works and it is pretty healthy!!!! I knew coming here would be great, you wonderful ladies keep me motiviated!!! I still have lost 7 lbs since coming here, just went off the wagon for a little bit!! Lots of hugs to you all!!!! PlantLover and other ladies, I sure do miss seeing you here!!!! PlantLover, you started such a wonderful thread, thanks again!!!!
-
Hi Kathy, I bet that is some water weight. That food is so salty!!! Keep drinking water to flush it out & I bet it will come off quick.
Judy, sometimes we just have bad weeks. What matters the most is that you feel good. We have all been through so much and are trying to do the best we can to take care of ourselves, and sometimes that means eatting some cookies. How did prom dress shopping go?
Nana, TGIF!!! Another work week done...hang in there, I'm sure next week will be better.
I have been bike riding for the past few days, really enjoying being outside. I did 5 miles today, they just opened a national preserve by us so we got to ride through it today. They open on weekends now, it's another nice place to ride. They have a trail that leads to the bay, it's on my list to walk as I've not done that yet. It was very cool as we spotted 2 hawks that were being chased away by some other birds
protecting their nest. Went shopping & bought a flat of pansies, some yard work is on my to do list tomorrow.
I'm on the good side of the yo-yo today, let's hope it stays off!!! Have a great evening everyone! Happy weekend. janet -
Hi, Janet, You always find the bright side of everything, thank you so much!!! I am definitely taking your advice and drinking lots of water. We also went to the gym and spent a little extra time on the elyptical. It is raining here, so no walk today. I am glad that you are on the other side of the yo-yo!!!! Jaytee, you are alowed some cookies once in awhile, so enjoy!!!! Hi ATeamNana and CookieMonster, hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!!
-
You ladies are so encouraging.
Janet. I love pansies. I bet the nature preserve is interesting.
Kathy it rained all day here also. I had a hard time deciding what clothing to wear. My body swiftly changes from hot to cold.
Cookie monster. So glad you are seeing results hope you were able to walk at soccer game. Jaytee I love coffee and would not have been able to resist those cookies either:). Hope your daughter has a fun time at prom. I love to see all the lovely dresses.
I "plan" on doing better next week. Have a nice weekend everyone! -
I love Sundays. This is usually family day for us. Church then to lunch with son dil and four grandsons. I am hoping we go somewhere I can have salad. Also I love our small group bible study and we are hosting tonight which means I will at least get some exercise cleaning house:). Have a great day everyone.
-
Good morning ! Well, I got Cinderella off to the ball yesterday! Whew! This was a week that I can say I definitely caused my own stress. I can be such a procrastinator. We have had the dress for quite some time but I finally got it hemmed just this week. Then since it was strapless and laced up the back, we had to go out and find a strapless bra that wouldnt show in the back. Again, we could have done that weeks ago, but we found one ,thank goodness. Anyway, she looked lovely and even though the day turned out to be rainy and their plans to have pictures taken outside had to be changed, everything worked out. I love to see all the pretty dresses too, and the hairdos! Daughter had her hair done at a Jc Penney salon, so I looked around while she was there, bought a pair of jeans and am happy to say it wasnt a terrible experience. I didnt have to buy the size that I was headed for before I started walking and coming here for encouragement! Yay, and thanks to you all!
I did get to take a nice long walk yesterday morning before the rain started. I had missed my walks on Thurs and Fri. Looks like the rain is over for now so I will get out there today. Ateam, I will join you in trying to do better this upcoming week!
tenaj...........the nature preserve sounds like a great place to ride bikes and walk! Must be so wonderful to have the ocean nearby. Did you get your pansies planted? It has sure been good pansy weather this spring. In a way, I wish the early spring weather would last longer.....really dont like the heat and humidity of summer. Good job on your weigh in this week!
kindergarden..........I had the bowl at Chipotle too.....dont go there very often, but they are so good! If you try the 17 day diet, wish you much success. I have said before that my little sis has had good results with it. Her family was so good about eating the same food as her so she wouldnt have to cook seperate meals. You deserve credit for losing that 7 pounds! That is progress! You too, Cookie, every pound we lose we are making progress! Wish everybody well for the coming week and hope you all have a lovely Sunday!!!! judy
-
Hi Everyone!!!! ATeamNana, I love Sundays, too!!! We just came back from a new members meeting at church and they served us a healthy lunch, now to carry it over to dinner. Enjoy your Bible Study group tonight!!!! Jaytee, Wow, you had a busy week. How was Prom and did you do all the sewing? I am sure your daughter looked beautiful!!!! I miss those days of Proms, fall dances, all the wonderful high school stuff. I am sure you enjoyed your nice long walk after such a busy week. Enjoy your Sunday!!! Tenaj and Cookie Monster, hope you are enjoying your Sunday!!! Hugs, Kathy
-
Hi kindergarden.........only sewing I had to do was the hemming....thank goodness! I used to sew much more than I do now. Would love to have a separate sewing room where I could keep the sewing machine up all the time. Might be able to get a project finished someday!
Maybe when DD goes to school this fall I can set it up in her room for awhile. I have always wanted to make a quilt someday. I love to do counted cross stitching too....havent worked on one of those for awhile. Have you ever looked around on the' Lets Inspire each other to be creative ' thread.....there are some really talented ladies on the BCO boards!!
The kids had a lot of fun at the Prom. Since they are seniors, it was tinged with a little sadness at it being their last school dance. This morning DD and I went out for a latte and she told me all about it, then she went with me on my walk. That was nice.......I know she was tired. The rest of this year is going to go by so quickly. They will get to wear their prom dresses one last time when they have their spring choir concert. The director always lets the girls dress up for that last one. They are going to be singing songs from Broadway shows.....I think it will be a fun concert to watch.
Sounds like you had a nice day today..........don't you get some of the best food at church lunches and dinners........there are always a lot of good cooks! I know that I have a couple of cookbooks in my house that church groups have put together and the recipes are great. A master gardening group in my town has put together a cookbook this year too, and I am thinking that I may need to buy a copy of that one. Love the fresh food that comes out of the garden!
Have a nice evening! Good Monday to everyone tomorrow!
-
Hi, Jaytee, Senior Prom is so special and how nice you and your daughter shared a latte together to talk about her night. When my sons were in high school, the school hosted an after prom at the school from mdnight to 4 am. Parents chaperoned and had planned activities for them. Hubby and I back then helped with that. I don't know how I stayed up that late back then, no way now
Senior year is so bittersweet, lots of fun, but also sad knowing you will become an emptynester, but enjoy. I love to do counted cross stitch but have not done a project for awhile. I will check out the board for Let's inspire each other to be creative. We just came back from a long walk using weights, wanted to walk off the lunch!!! Enjoy your daughter's senior year, how fun, all the activities going on and the concerts!!!!! Have a great evening and enjoy your walks.
-
Hi everyone,
Friday night we had company over, then Saturday night we went to my brother-in-law's house for dinner (late Passover seder), so food consumption was not great - not awful, but not good. Today has been better though. Just have to keep at it.
I did walk while DS was at soccer (another good 45+ minute walk).
Have a great week everyone - I'm hoping for a good one this week, let's see what we can all do.
-
Good Morning everyone. Hope you had a nice weekend. I got to plant my pansies & do some yard work around. Everything looks great, I love working outside. I was exhausted at night, not too sore but I definitely can't do what I use to.
Jaytee, I'm sure you had fun with your daughter, getting ready for the prom & then your nice walk. The kids took pictures by us when they went to the prom. My mother & and mother in law were inside watching doing a commentary, it was quite funny!! (not quite like Joan Rivers...but funny) Very special memories.
You guys are so impresing with the sewing!!! I sewed about 25 years ago, not so good. I do like to crochet, although I haven't made something in a few years. Perhaps next fall I will make a new blanket. I like to crochet when it gets colder so it can sit on my lap while I work. These hot flashes should make that fun!! LOL
CookieMonster, sounds like you had a nice family weekend. Keep up the good work walking and enjoying your family!
Have a good week at work ATeamNana!! Let's all try to keep up the good work eatting, walking & drinking water. I'm going to some yoga this morning before I go to work. Have a great day all!!!
-
Hi,Everyone!!!!CookieMonster!!! Family holiday dinners are fun, and it is a great excuse to eat lots of great food!!! You will definitely walk it off. Janet, Pansies are my favorite flowers, they look good for such a long time. Does the heat affect them?? It never gets too hot here, so I need to get a pot of them soon!!! And you had a great workout as well, yard work is exhausting.lots of water for me today and the gym.. Hope you all have great day. Hi, Jaytee and ATeamNana!!!!!!
