Photogamy, in NJ.  Not too far for our nyc area get together.

rtnyc, why buy new bras when you can just cut off the boobs?

GmaNiki, sorry you have to see MO, but glad you are recovering nicely.

Lisamarie, keep hanging in, talk/write to us and keep going!

    Ndroby, good luck tomorrow.

i have to laugh with you ladies.  i finally gave in this year and went to a specialty bra shop in nyc to get "fitted."  over the past 6 months i have purchased $500 of new bras!  not to mention new support/bra bathing suits.  all to manage my DDD boobs!  THAT was a waste of $$ it turns out.  i told PS that i DO NOT want to recreate DDD.  i'll be happy with B or small C!  i hope all the april ladies continue their recovery.  so nice to see you all up posting and feeling OK.  GMAniki - i hope your BS appointment goes well.  NDroby- good luck tomorrow.  and Keonghi-- can't wait to hear you're on the other side and on the upswing.  thinking of all of you.

    Hi All,

Glad to hear that the April surgeries are doing so well. I am headed for the OR tomorrow. Let's hope that this is indeed a preventative mastectomy. I had SLNB nuclear injection today on both sides. The abnormal biopsied right side still hurts, and it's 8 hours after the injection. I hope this is not a sign of cancer. Pray for me! Love to all of my MX sisters as we draw on our energies to get through this together.

May the Angels be ever near your side!

    Nancy

Hi all, I'm joining this thread a bit late but I wasn't sure if I should since I'm getting a lumpectomy, not a mastectomy.  Well, it's actually a quandrantectomy because I didn't get an amazing response from neo-adjuvant chemo.  I'm also going in on Wednesday--it seems like there are a lot of surgeries that day.

Thanks for sharing all your pre and post-surgery tips!  Good luck to all of us and speedy recovery for everyone!

today at work I started to tell more people and clients becuase they need to konw who to work with while I'm out. In addition to this I keep getting phone calls to go out with family friends, which is great cause they all want to show their support. I get that, I really do but the other side of me... I really don't want to go out (although I do want the drinks)   I just feel I still don't want to face it that the last 3 months filled iwth biopsys, results, radiologists, breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, etc etc isn't really happening and going out because I have surgery on the 23rd is really driving it home. Am I crazy?

RTNYC - Linda Bra Lady.  lol.  what a flippin waste of $$.  oh, well.  next time round, Victoria's Secret low-support.  So hard to believe we're less than two weeks away.  I'll be at Sloan while you are at Sinai on the 23rd.  I am doing a zillion million errands and working hard to try to keep my mind off this.  i literally get nauseous when i read any of the post-op care brochures i got from the hospital.  good night ladies...hope everyone keeps on healing.  peace

I had a PET scan on Friday, MUGA heart scan today and see the oncologist tomorrow for results. Trying to keep a positive outlook and not freak out too much. See the surgeon on Thursday. His staff told me my BMX wa soutpatient, no over night stay.I was flabberghasted! Anyone else doing this?

Thanks for the welcome! So we are surgery sisters! I can sooo relate to the anxiety at 3AM. It seems everytime I see a doc, its worse news than the time before. I'm a strong girl but this is pushing my limits! Good luck today, Ndroby!

    • Good morning ladies, I am sitting in bed with my two basset hounds and wanted to write to thank you all for you support and let you know I am here for you too.  Plymouth...thanks for keeping the list for us.  Have to work today thru Saturday and then get ready for surgery on Monday.  I am glad I'm not the only one with HIGH anxiety.  I wake up every two hours or so lol...

Some one posted about getting to buy "pretty bras" instead of "functioning bras"  That will be fun for me too!  God bless you all and have a good day.

Jayme33 -- i have never heard of a BMX as an outpatient procedure.  are you having TEs?  not sure if that adds a day tor two to the stay.   my doc told me two nights in hospital is standard..  lumpectomy is usually outpatient.  good luck!

    Hi all

lisamarie I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago too, I haven't even had 1, I've really suprised myself. I've got big red itchy marks where the nicotine patches have been, it's happened only for about a week. Very annoying as I'm running out of spaces to put them. I've also come out in a big rash over my arms, stomach. I thought it was something that I touched at work today but I may have to go to the Doctors to get it checked out, I don't want to delay my surgery.

Welcome Jayme and JNS. Sorry you had to join us. My stress has kicked in and all I have packed for tomorrow is a pair of pj's and a toothbrush. I hope I get the same anesthesiologist that I had 3 weeks ago. Of course I don't remember his name because I didn't think I would be seeing him again. He was great. I told him not to ask me to count to ten or anything like that, just do it without me knowing and all I remember was him adjusting my pillow and then I was waking up. I don't even remember getting from the wheel chair to the table. It worked for me.

Good luck to Gabsbaba-Photogamy and JNS. I hope Ndroby is doing well.

I have been having trouble finding the button up things and the  camisoles that hold the drains ugh , they are expensive , for me anyway . I just moved to a new apartment this month and I threw away all the bras I had .. I said oh well , I just kept two to wear while I wait . so glad ur back and well Gmaniki .. hugs to you . I unfourunatly am still on my emotional roller coaster . I have this darn friend . he is I guess what they call a friend with benfits .. I hate that he doesnt want a relationship  .. I know I keep telling u gals all my buisness but I have noone else to tell . anyway I told him I cannot beilieve surgery is in like 13 days , and that now that it is so close I dont think I will let anyone see me after surgery and not sure I will ever be able to be intimate with a man or date . then he procedes to say that any man that just looks at that is not worth it .. anyway just made me see once again that the man in my life will NOT be him :( .. well as the world turns in my life .

Keonghi thinking of you hoping you are resting well now on the other side ,Hugs to you ...xoxox

Lisamarie68- Take some deep breaths.  You will get through all of this.  I got my post-op clothes from Target.  I I bought Champion dry fit lightweight zip up warm up jacket ($29,99) that has inside pockets. There is room in each pocket for two drains.  If you are having trouble finding button downs shirts-- head to the men's department at Target.  You may want to ask your surgeon what you will be wearing home after the surgery since some doctors put their patients in bras and some use an ace bandage.  I came home in a ace bandage and I did not use the camisole until I got the ace bandage off.  You can always safety pin to pin the drains to whatever you are wearing.  You may also want to check with your insurance company to see if post-op bras/ camisoles are covered.  If they are covered, ask your breast surgeon to write you a prescription for those.  There is a "Drains" thread in the Help Me Get Through This section which may also help you.  Hang in there!!!!!

Sending positive calming & healing prayers, thoughts and energy to all!!!!

So, got my pathology report today. Unfortunately what looked like clean nodes during surgery turned out to be one of two nodes with 2.2mm of micromets. Have an appt with my MO tomorrow to determine next course of treatment. It's possible I'll need additional surgery to take out the rest of my nodes on the BC side. Also pretty much guaranteed chemo at this point. To say I'm bummed is an understatement. I feel like I went from getting past the worst back to square one....guess this is not unusual with BC, but still feels like being kicked when you're down. Would just like to get at least one break in all this...ok, done with my pity party.

Thank you for the welcome, plymouth and all the positive thoughts from the rest of you lovely women!  Just trying to while away the hours until tomorrow (awesome book for making the time pass: Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese).

Raelan, I'm sorry to hear about your nodes.  Chemo will get rid of those stray cells and that's huge for piece of mind, right?

Thank you lisamarie 68!  Good luck tomorrow Gabsbaba, dianarose and photogamy--here's sending you and your surgeons good vibes!  Speedy healing for all the ladies who are already done, and speedy days for the other April ladies who are still waiting.

Raelen -  sorry about your path report.  it definitely sucks and is unfair -- as everything about BC is.   I feel your pain and frustration all the way across the internet.   I've been working a lot on visualization techniques.  picturing a time in the future when i am healthy and recovered.  your journey may have gotten a little longer today..but the endpoint is still health and recovery for you.  you will be healthy.  i can tell you are strong.  try to keep that focus in your mind's eye if you are able.

best of luck to the girls up tomorrow.  and hugs to those on the mend.  as for me...i just got my daughter's sore throat. UGH.  she has a bad cold. hope i don't get it just before surgery :(

Raelen ~ I am so sorry about your path report, too.  It's not what any of us wants to hear.  When they say this is a roller coaster, I guess they aren't joking.  The problem is, until you are cancer-free, it's all downs with just a few breaks in-between …no "ups".  Just remember that we are here for you no matter what comes.  We are all sisters now.  I have been told that I am also very likely to have chemo even though they don't know the extent of my cancer yet, but because of my age and the type of cancer I have it all points to being more aggressive.

Gabsbaba, Dianarose & JNS: I will meet you on the other side.  I can't believe the day has come and in 10 hours I will be on the operating table!  I am so ready to get on with it.

Ndroby, you have been in my thoughts all day.  I hope you are resting comfortably and relieved that this part is over!  :)

Thank you, sisters, for your support.  I'll check in as soon as I am lucid enough.  :)

Raelan, I am sorry about your node.  Not fair.   Not at all.  Sorry you'll need chemo. But very glad you did the mx rather than lx.  Seems better with all tissue out.

JNS, I read Cutting For Stone, great book! Will be thinking of you, Gabs, dianarose and photogamy tomorrow, you are all almost to the other side!

NDroby and  Keo, hope you are comfortable.

Lisamarie - I can do it with you - not the quit smoking but the bmx.  Mine is scheduled for the 4/25 - so we can do it together.

This is my second round with the nasty C - first almost 18 years go, IDC, fast growing and 2.5 cm.  Had rad and chemo.  This time high grade DCIS with micro invasion less than 1mm (of course don't know what we will uncover - but hoping nothing we can't deal with!

I'm going for natural breast reconstruction in the form of SGAP -

Now, while I don't smoke, I show my 'jitters' by peeling off my nail polish!!!  I've gone to clear so it's not so noticable - but never the less.....Wink  I'm there with you!

Since this was my first time posting anywhere on here, I forgot a crucial info point:  I had a lumpectomy 18 years ago on Rt breast, this new one is on the Lt breast.  Wanted to lessen the radiation - so the bmx decision.
