Hey, Jaytee, thanks again for the reminder about National Walk Day, hubby and I did a hike-walk in Rancho Palos Verdes and walked up to The Portugese Point. You walk up a huge hill about a 1/2 mile and it overlooks the ocean.  It is a little scary, because you walk along the cliffs at one point and when we were walking down, I must of looked scared, because a young group of ladies insisted on holding my hand, my hubby was holding my other hand, we laughed and laughed.I know I am approaching 60, but I feel younger in my mind, and younger people looking at us must think, why are they walking along the cliffs? They are way too old!!!!! If I had done this last year, I would be suffering with aches and pains, but I actually feel good and energized now. Enough rambling on my part, I hope you all had a wonderful day and were able to get walks in, too. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter Sunday and have many blessings, joy and laughter!!!!!! Kathy

Good evening ladies! Hope your day went well. I was busy at work, got out late, had no left overs so had to come home & cook so I missed out on my bike ride. I did well eatting today, so far...lol, I had my homemade vegetable soup for lunch & no snacks.

Jaytee, I'm so glad to hear you like the dumplings & your sister is making them too. My mom is smiling down, she loved them sautéed in the butter too. I'm not a big cheese person either, very limited. That of course unless it's on pizza or pasta.

Kindergarten, these chocolate blueberries are almost as deadly as M&M's are to me..... I'm sure the scale would be moving faster had I not found them! At least the excercise is making me feel better & stronger :-)

1 more work day & then I'm off. Both my kids are coming home & Saturday is a big baking day. My mother-in-law had a tradition of baking Easter breads with the colored eggs in them. She started making them with the grand kids when the very very young. My daughter, who is a fantastic baker, took over the job several years ago when my M-I-L got older & sicker. The last year she was alive we had her over & made them with her. She was so happy & pleased my DD was keeping the tradition up. Anyway, my kids are coming home & we plan on baking them & her delicious Easter Pie.(if you didn't guess, she's Italian) So.... Looks like its going to be difficult to control myself this weekend. I'm going to enjoy but make sure my portions are small.

    Have a great evening.

Hi girls!! I did not do too bad today. I managed to eat only a few of the Pringles someone brought in to work today. These ladies are torture on me. I also caved and had a small latte. That is the first one I have had in the last three days. That is huge for me. I could drink two a day if I allowed myself.

Went to watch all four grandsons for about an hour. Jumped around to Gabba Gabba ( a kids show ) for a little while. They are such fun:).

I also tried fresh mango tonight for snack. I love it. I used to be very bad about trying something new but am much more willing to try new foods now.

One more work day. Yay for a three day weekend for us working girls:).

Hi again..........Kindergarden, that sounded like a wonderful walk!  I am picturing the view of the ocean...must have been beautiful!

tenaj........I have seen pictures of that bread in cookbooks but never tried to make it.  Family traditions do make holidays special.......such a good way to remember our loved ones. My Mom was such a good pie baker.  I always say she had 'the touch' with pie crust....try as I may I just can't make a pie crust as flaky as hers.  I like to try though and I always think about her when I do.     Good job on the eating today! We just finished up leftovers tonight so I will have to cook tomorrow.  I need to get up early and walk in the morning.

ATeam.....it is very hard to pass up goodies at work!   When you said they have popcorn alot, I know that would be difficult for me and its really not that bad of a snack unless they load it with butter.  I had an air popper for awhile.......didnt really like it, the popcorn was so dry you had to put some butter on it.  DH found one of those Whirlypop popcorn pans on sale once, they have a crank in the handle that you turn as it pops, it keeps the popcorn from burning.  I find that I can use less oil than they recommend and I put in some popcorn seasoning instead of using butter.  Its pretty good.    Another book I read a while back was 'The 3 Hour Diet'.  I think the authors last name is Cruz.  It was interesting.  Had different little stories about people of different ages who had good success following his eating plan.  The idea was to eat every 3 hours during the day with the idea of keeping your metabolism fired up.    Seems like I remember him saying that you could have a treat from time to time.  There are just so many different books out there, the trick is to find one that really works with your schedule.

Take care everyone........have a good day tomorrow!

Jaytee. I had one of those crank popcorn poppers years ago. Now I just use a pan on the stove with a little garlic salt. It gives it an little flavor but no butter.

A walk overlooking the ocean does sound so beautiful kathy I imagine that was very relaxing. I too am going to try to eat small portions Sunday. We are going to a ponderosa steak house. It is all you can eat so I will have to really be careful.

Tenej. How fun to continue a family tradition of the baking. I would love to see it. I do not believe i have heard of that. Have a great time with your family. I am looking forward to Easter. The youngest grandsons are 2. 1/2 so they should have fun hunting eggs this year. Well need to get ready for work. So glad today is last day this week.

Kathy. I would love to take a vacation to CA. Ubfortunately it iis not in my budget this year but who knows what would work in the next year. That would be so much fun to have a personal tour guide and hotel close by would be awesome.

You will have such fun when that grand baby arrives. The Excitement builds as the birth grows nearer. Babies are so precious and such a miracle.

    Have a good one everyone!

Thank you, Marsha, it is so exciting and I have been praying to be a grandmother for a long time. Our new granddaughter is definitely a miracle. We just came back from a bike ride and had to take the bikes up some steep walkways. Boy, I hope the scale is kind tomorrow!!!  I have lost a total of 10 pounds, but need to lose lots more. I am just hoping to lose 10 more by May. How are all you ladies doing out there??? There are so many places to walk and ride bikes out here, so I would love to entertain you all, hubby is very agreeable to that. It is just nice that we can chat here. Hugs, Kathy

    Hi all,

Sorry I've been out of touch. DS and I went out of town to visit friends for a few days and then today I had more surgery - on the reconstruction side of things (BC is all GONE!). I'm now home and resting mostly comfortably.

Had to get up at 4:30 this morning to get to the hospital and totally forgot to weight myself, may just try to do it tomorrow morning.

DS, our friends, their dog, and I went to Yosemite on Tuesday and according to my pedometer just in walking around Yosemite (including trails to see the Giant Sequioa grove and Yosemite Falls) I walked more than 14,000 steps. It was beautiful up there and mostly not too crowded - definitely not like summer. I made up for the 14000 days with the two driving days where I didn't get many steps, and then today - but today's sedentary behavior is doctor recommended.

Marsha - visitors would be fun, I'd love to come along on an outing if I can - working gets in the way though, of course. Maybe a dinner or weekend event. There is someone planning a trip to the LA area, who posted on BCO, but had to postpone, keep an eye out for her.

    Take care all.

    -Judy

Kathy, that is great you lost 10 lbs!!!!! Congratulations! You can loose another 10... You have been so motivated, going to the gym, bike riding & walking. That is why you see results, keep it up & it won't be a problem. :-) that sounds so nice, to visit you & CA..... I would love to see your ocean view. I have the fortune to live near the ocean, but our terrain is flat. The west coast scenes look so beautiful in pictures & movies.

Jaytee & ATeamNana the popcorn sounds very good, I can almost smell it.

    Have a great evening everyone!

Tenaj. Woot we r off tomorrow. I plan on getting some much needed housework done. We will see how it goes:). Jaytee - I will have to check the 3 day diet book. Have not heard about that one.

Happy Easter everyone!!! Hi plant lover. Erika and Any others that may pop in:)

Hi, CookieMonster, Thoughts and prayers are coming your way for a speedy recovery. Great news that BC is all gone!!! Your Yosemite trip sounded wonderful, hubby and I want to go there this summer. Thanks, Tenaj, I could not do it without you all here. Hope your work week has gone well!!! You all keep me accountable and determined.

Kathy - I'd strongly recommend that you head to Yosemite not during summer. It's VERY crowded between Memorial Day and Labor Day. If you go in mid May, the waterfalls should still be pretty spectacular and you can avoid the crowds. If you have the ability to go then, I'd do so. Also go during the week, not on the weekend.

Well, BC is gone as far as we know. There's never a guarantee of it being gone, of course, hence the mammos and MRIs that are in my future.

Morning all!  Its a beautiful day in Ohio today, was cold last night but its bright and sunny this morning!  I dont have to go in to work this morning so I'll be going out for my walk soon.  I did get up early yesterday and walked in the morning before work.  Sure do like it better at that time of day.

Cookie..........glad to see you!  So glad to hear your good news from the doctor.  It took me awhile to figure out what NED meant when I saw it on here in other posts.  Didnt know they werent using the word remission much anymore.  Whatever they call it, its a good place to be!!!  Hope you are feeling better from your surgery.........take it easy this weekend and let everyone take care of you!  Smile

Kathy, it would be fun to get together sometime.  My Aunt has always wanted me to come out and see her in Ca....she lives in Hemet.  I am embarrassed to say that I am afraid of flying.  Had a bad experience on an airplane when I was younger, the pilots thought there was a problem with the landing gear--we had to fly to a bigger airport and did the whole head on your lap emergency landing thing with all kinds of emergency vehicles out there waiting.   If I could do it, would love to take a car trip across the country and see many of the sites along the way.    Yosemite is a place I'd love to see---love looking at pictures of those beautiful falls.     Kathy, so proud of you for losing 10 pounds!   With your good exercise habits now, that extra 10 will come off before you know it!   Way to go, girl!!

Ateam.....hope you have so much fun with your grandkids this weekend. I have a 6 yr old grandson and he is still excited to hunt for Easter eggs.  That reminds me I need to get some eggs boiled for coloring later on.   I need to do some housework too and a little baking.   I have a list in my mind this morning of what I need to get done before 2, I tend to put more things on the list than I can possibly accomplish.   One thing at a time and it all eventually gets done!

tenaj......are you starting your baking today?   Think I am going to make some kolaches.  They are a family favorite here from Dh's side of the family.  HIs dad is Slovakian and they are a buttery pastry square filled with a dab of jam or preserves, then you bring 2 opposite corners together.  I usually make them at Christmas but they are good anytime.  So good with a cup of coffee or tea.  Have fun with your family this weekend!

Thinking of you all..........have a great day, and enjoy the nice spring weather!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'm finally up this morning. Slept OK, but not great on my back last night. I'm definitely not a preferred back sleeper. I'm sure I'm healing up fine, I seem to be good at healing at least. Happy Friday all, and have a great weekend.

I did not do too bad today. I was the only one in the office so at least I did not have to turn down all the goodies they bring:). My mango was kind of tart. I still have to figure out how to pick a good one. The last time I bought one I loved it. Maybe this is s silly question but are there different varieties??

All in all I had a pretty good day! Hello to everybody!!!

Hi, Everyone!!!! How is everyone today? I still feel so full from yesterday, but I did take a nice walk today!!!! Not even going near that evil scale until Friday. Hopefully, by then things will be better!! We are eating some leftovers and then I have my Circle meeting tonight with desserts and goodies coming!!! I will really try to be good, because of you wonderful ladies!!!!! You can keep me accountable, since I am sure I will be on here again tomorrow!!!! Have a wonderful evening. Oh, I almost forgot, I had a little bit of excitement today. I have been dealing with eye floaters and flashes for a year now and yesterday me left eye was really uncomfortable. I should not have been on the internet, but I immediately thought I had a tear in my retina.Surprised I called my opthamologist this morning and he took me right away and did some extensive tests and all he found was another large floater in my left eye but no tear in my retina. Thank Goodness!!!!  Thanks for letting me ramble on!!!!! Wink

Hi everyone, Sounds like everyone had a nice Easter. It was great to see my kids, we did a lot of cooking & baking.....and of course lots of eatting goes a long with that. Jaytee I also enjoyed some M&M's...(I only do good when they are not in the house)

Kathy, so glad to hear they are just floaters. I have them also & they are very annoying. I found I had my first bad one when I was in my early 40's. I had to see a retinal specialist who was this very young doctor who said it was normal with old age. Really???? 40's????? I wanted to smack him, but was glad to hear it wasn't too serious.

ATeamNana, I don't have too much experience with mango's except for some mango sorbet martini's I use to make, quite delicious!!!! Since my BC dx I rarely drink anymore but perhaps I will treat myself to one of those soon. Maybe when I start making some head way with some weight loss. I seem to be in a yo-yo phase. I loose 2-3lbs and then gain them back & then down again. I've been very good on the excercise but need to get better with eatting. My plan is to start calorie counting again. I have a great app on my IPhone that keeps track.

Enjoy the rest of the evening & have. Wonderful day tomorrow.

    ((((hugs))))
