Herceptin & Caffeine
Did anyone else read that regular consumption of caffeine can greatly impact Herceptin's effectiveness? Can you point me to that study?
Would like a cup of coffee.....

Sure hope so! Have been on Herceptin for 9 years and had 6 years of remission.
Regular coffee drinker, too.
Was afraid that you were going to say that we couldn't have caffeine while on Herceptin.

Hey Denise - Wow, that is amazing that you have been in remission for 6 years! Yay!
I read somewhere on the Internets that "regular" consumption of caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol "greatly impacted" the effectiveness of Herceptin. I wish I could read the study and figure out what they mean by "regular." One cup day? Three? Twelve? I miss my iced coffee in the morning!
However, if you are in remission and drink coffee regularly, this might not be a very accurate study. Which is awesome on a number of levels - you are doing amazing AND we can have some coffee.

I WAS in remission for 6 years. I now have a recurrence in the lymph nodes behind my sternum.
So I have been out of remision for over a year. But I will continue to enjoy my coffee! Got a Keurig brewer and try to keep it down to 4 cups a day.

Ah, I understand. So sorry to hear about your recurrence, but I agree - enjoy those cups of coffee!

I was never able to find the study. I don't drink much caffeine anyway, but I've stopped stressing about it.

I haven't seen anything anout it, but when I told the Dr. how much coffe I drink she didn't say anythin s i don't know. And i can't type to well lately LOL
