Calling all TNs

Linda - I had sent that article earlier to a local TN group and am so glad to see you posted it here. It's definately promising and also makes me happy to hear the money raised for the walks, runs, etc. is helping the research.
Bernie - so sorry to hear about the tumour/stage. On another note, your jokes are so funny.
Heidi - I never get tired of your chocolate bunnies
What a day...my husband's best friend's wife just announced she wants to split up after many years of marriage so my DH is with him right now at the neighbourhood pub trying to console him (...or however men tackle these things). I'm in shock to hear this news as I thought they were so happy. You just never know...
The best thing that happened to me today is I got out of the "fun house" with those stupid new glasses. I complained the other day and the eye doctor retested me and made some amendments to the prescription for the astigmatism and now the cylinder and the axis are very different than before and they are not bothering me at all. He also adjusted the contacts prescription and I can see up close and far away (no need for the reading glasses I had to buy last week to see up close with the original "trial" pair of contacts. So, after five trips to the eye doctor (...and countless stops to the mall across the street "while in the neighbourhood")...I"m all set with a prescrption that works well. Finally!!

-
Bernie, That's great! I'm stealing that one too.
I went to the eye doctor yesterday because I'm low on contacts. I skipped last year, I was diagnosed at about the time I was due to go so I just never went. Well, new dr. noticed that I seem to have no peripheral vision on the lower outside quadrants. She wanted me to get in to see a neuro-opthamologist for more testing. However, I swear I've never really had it, in fact its sort of the joke in our house. My husband always sneaks up on me because I've always been like this. After telling her this she felt much better that its probably just the way I was born but it still kicked my anxiety into high gear.

One more encouraging video featuring the UBC's lead researcher. Sam Aparicio:
Way to go, UBC!
-
Cahy - thanks for sharing...looks promising!
-
I am having a weepy morning. Ugh. No particular reason... just worried and anxious.
-
Michele,
Sorry your having a bad day. I'm got the worries and anxiousness too.
-
Michele... Sorry you are feeling weepy and anxious...hard stuff... I too started feeling anxious yesterday...maybe because my onc appointment is coming up in April, I don't know, or maybe I am reading too much but I feel scared, not positive and strong and know I need to get up and do something physical to help me out of this. I even missed yoga-unlike me. I seemed to have let the fear get the best of me. So I am going to get off the internet, clean up the house, paint, and try to be good to myself. I have some pain in the center of my chest when I push on my ribs and of course my mind takes me places. I also have a cold and just haven't felt my best and I think that has helped make me vulnerable. I want my former energy back and am hoping I have it by the summer. Well anyway cancer S...ks......
On a nice note, my 2 cats are close and comforting me, and the birds are lovely to look at at the feeder.
Sorry to complain, jsut feeling scared.
-
Thanks Susan and Heather. I also have pain in my sternum and around my left implant. Nothing new but the constant reminder is exhausting. <sigh> I am also anxious about family-stuff. So... it makes my tolerance shorter. Ya know? Doesn't take much to rock the boat anymore.
My goal for today is to work, work, work (through lunch even) so that I can attend Good Friday Services with my kids this afternoon... then, I am going to make them play the Wii with me this evening. That always makes me feel better!!
{{hugs}} to everyone here!! Will light a candle at Mass for my TNBC sisters who are celebrating Holy Week.
xxoo

Michele:
Hang in there, Michele - just keep telling yourself "this too shall pass," because it will. We are all here for you, we will hold your head above water until you get out of this pool.
Hugs,
Linda
-
Michele - sorry you are having a bad day. Hope it gets better for you.
-
Hi Michele, big hugs for you.
-
-
Hate when my board buddies are hurting. Big hugs to you guys.
-
Well I talked to my PCP about the bad liver enzyme #s, and he agrees that since I've had problems with this off and on for almost a decade it's probably not significant and gave me the Metformin prescription! How much are you guys starting out with? I'm thinking of halving the dose to start, worried about the GI effects... also what time of day do you all take it? Don't really want gas and bloating at work

Sorry for you all feeling sad today, oh I know that feeling and how hard it is to shake... here's hoping the spring weekend lifts your spirits.
-
Just looking out to see if all you ladies are well today. Hope you are eating lots of chocolate eggs even though its not Sunday. Annie
-
This one is for all you ladies with eyesight/glasses problems.

-
Annie, that is cute, actually, that's exactly what is happening to me. I never see dust in my house. I used to have to dust every single weekend when I was young, now - never!
-
Best thing that happened to me yesterday......I had my last chemo!!!
-
Lovely face I used to be a clean freak. Every Saturday after working all week I would clean, clean and more clean. Now with this diagnosis I think the damn dust can mount up if it likes, bigger things in this life to worry about more than dust.
Borntosurvive wow that is awesome. Now you can start living it up!!. Annie
-
congrats borntosurvive!!!!
-
Yep, a group hug is in order today. Hoping those in need feel better soon
Yay for BTS...doing the happy dance for being done with chemo.
Minxie; my PCP gave me the 850mg twice a day. (that is the study dose) but he instructed me to start with only one tablet in the morning. A gal on the metformin thread advised me to take it at night, right when I go to bed. I am thinking I will cut the 850 in half and start there. I really want my body to accept this med so I will be patient a start slowly. My insurance requires mail ordering so i just sent in the script today. might be another 10 days before I actually have it in my hands.
-
borntosurvive....woot woot...congrats on finishing your chemo!!--and I love your date of diagnosis.11/11/11 whew! Now you can move on with life! Any surgery or rads for you??
Maggie
-
Minxie - take your metformin at night with dinner. It's best to have it with food to minimize the GI issues. I take mine morning and night, and I've been on it for so long that I can take it right before bedtime with no problems.
Borntosurvive - you are now officially one day PFC (post final chemo or substitute your own favorite "f" word there). Let the hair watch begin! Woohoo!
-
Borntosurvive -woohoo on last chemo! That has to be a GREAT feeling!
-
Way to go Borntosurvive...the worst is behind you!

More humor:
Two Trees and A Woodpecker
It is hard to find a joke today without a dirty word or two in it, but here
is one:
Two tall trees, a birch and a beech, are growing in the woods.
A small tree begins to grow between them, and the beech says to the birch,
Is that a son of a beech or a son of a birch?'
The birch says he cannot tell, but just then a woodpecker lands on the
sapling.
The birch says, 'Woodpecker, you are a tree expert. Can you tell if that is
a son of a beech or a son of a birch?'
The woodpecker takes a taste of the small tree and replies, 'It is neither a
son of a beech nor a son of a birch.
It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever poked my pecker into.
Now wipe that smile off your face and pass it on..
-
Bornto- Woo Hoo!
Annie - we'll have dessert first!
Loved the funnies!
My best thing, is that my best friend, nor his apt. were injured today when the F18 crashed into his apt. complex, in VA. Beach! -
Hello ladies!! I feel like I have been away forever! This new job is really eating into my BCO time!! LOL!!
I saw the onc last week and he gave me a printout from the BC conference he recently attended in Miami. One of the seminars was on Metformin. It said that there has been no significant proof that Metformin helps unless used in conjunction with active treatment. So, of course he still won't prescribe it for me. Michelle, I may have to contact the doctor you recommended!!
He did say that they discussed Aspirin and its benefit for BC. He told me to take 2 full strength aspirin a week.
I'm loving reading all the funnies!!
Congrats borntosurvive!!
OBXK- glad your friend is okay- how terrifying would that be!!
Michele S- hope you have a better day tomorrow!!
Had a 6 month mammo today on the left side- everything is A-okay!! Had a chest x-ray for "surveillance". Will probably get those results next week.
Have a Happy Easter ladies!!
-
Happy Easter everyone!
Cocker..I'm a clean freak too..but chill'n a little on that...or at least trying
Heidi..you crack me up..thanks for the smile!
