We love you FUZZY!!!  Sooooo glad you came back to us!  I really liked the picture of the writing in the sand.  The beach is my favorite place to be, so I hope you will find the place you want to be, too.  GG

Hey ladies! How's everyone doing? It's been so long since I last checked in. Computer issues, mostly, and just moving on, I guess. Fuzzy reminded me to check in, so I'll take time this evening to catch up.

I just voluntarily had my head shaved. A friend and fellow chef was diagnosed recently with a benign brain tumor, and rockin' chick that she is, she held a head-shaving party today. Yup. I did it. It took a few belts of Jameison before I jumped into the stylist's chair.

And I LOVE my super short hair! Yeah, it looks kinda butch, but WTF. First time I shrunk my hair voluntarily. Fuck chemo. Embrase the clipper!

Love and more love to you all...

Golly, Missy Michelle, I was wondering where you wuz, too!  So great to see your smiling face in that pic, you look very tan in your white shirt for some reason.  Fuzzy, MBJ lives with the stars now, she shines down on you always.  Special K, I hope you are no worse for wear, I think I expressed same when you came out of your op.  Ruffy, always appreciate you checking in!  ALL MY CHEMO SISTERS, you are my favs, my dear friends, the ones who held my hand when we went thru chemoworld, and I love you each and every one.  GG

GG:  I swear you read my mind or something.  We're like "this" (can you see what I'm doing with the your-eyes, my-eyes thing...see it?)

I just posted on MBJ's thread...and it's just sooooo close to what you just posted.  I'm so sad about this loss.  And, it's just something I actually can do I suppose.  But, I wanted to share it with my chemo pals and all of my family here....

It really is true, isn't it ...

dogeyed - I am doing OK - got past the rash, fever and funeral.  I am back to the usual - have started to exercise this week again.  Walked 4 miles yesterday and today, and am trying to watch what I am eating.  Now that I am staying out of the operating room for a while I need to get back in shape so I am not so tired all the time.  How are you doing?

paula - hey!  Good to see you!

Far out, FUZZY.  Yup, we is on the same wave length, feels so good to me.  SPECIALK, well, as for how I'm doing, I'm not too pleased about my hairs these days.  I'm not sure how much is up there, but it's sticking all out every whichaway, my head looks ridiculous.  So, I wear a cap to sort of hold this little explosion in place.  Walked with our new dog in the side yard, and as we came up from the gate at the creek, a breeze blew lots of our white blossoms from our pear trees all around us, really heavenly, sort of pulled me out of a couple days of blues.

I have determined this cancer thing has struck fear in my heart, and even tho I think I managed the whole thing pretty well, on how to set aside all the terrors we all went thru with chemo, and how to file away the death aspect, I reckon since I'm now free of it all, my mind is lifting off all that pressure, and what comes out scares me.  A friend of mine sent me an email yesterday, tho, telling me ways to deal with my fears and finally truly lay them to rest.  That walk with my dog helped a lot, and having him around the house keeps me calm when I start to freak out.  Sometimes I hollar out when I wake up from a nap, a kind of grinding moan, and husband comes and gives me a hand hug, I feel his energy and I relax.  So, I reckon this cancer is an up and down thing, until we finally get it out of our systems.  GG

Paula, it looks great!  Isn't it funny how hair comes back so curly.  You should keep it - really looks good on you!   My hair looks very close to that with tight little shirley temple curls.  It's just such a relief to actually have real hair that doesn't look like post-chemo peach fuzz.

Hi- Fuzzy- it's great to 'see' you again on here w/ everyone. I too am more of a lurker- but think of you all each & every day as if you were here.

Michelle- love your spirit of taking charge- admirable!

Paula- your hair is so much like mine only yours is far tamer than mine- mine sticks out on the sides too even though I cut it.

GG- I hear ya on the fear. Just when I think it's almost gone it slaps me in the face- a shooting pain, hearing/reading something that reminds me, seeing someone become an angel on here- any of that sends me to a tough place. I don't let it in mostly, but every now & then it comes. I had a dream last night that reminded me just how real the fear is.

Love you all- thanks for being my friends. My PCP ordered metformin fo me- I plan to start on it this w/e. If anyone else is on it would love to hear from them on any side effects.

FUZZ, you got it, girl.  PAULA, I can hardly wait to see what they do to your hair.  My hair is most unflattering to me... I tried to cover up my neck where some expansion has happened from not enough exercise, and my look improves.  I COULD put extensions, I suppose, and dye what's up there now.  But we're saving our money for something, can't remember WHAT, so can't do much to it until midsummer.  I have a wig, but I only wear it for personal appearances.  I thought next time I might weave in some sparkles or shiny barrets and just go "straight," but I'd have to mummify my neck (and gut) to pull it off.  LISA don't know what metformin is, but if it's a hormone-blocking drug, their side effects can get rather wild, but they say it settles down.  Bye all!!  GG

Here is the after do.  I'm so happy to finally get the curls under control.  Just one more cut and I will be back to the spikey hair I once had.

Thank you Special K for your continual support. I hope you're doing good. My doctor wanted to observe me and see what happens. I think enough observation and time to take these cycts out.

Thank LisaGH for your support as well. I hope you're doing well.

MamaV- I love what you said about your hair. I hate mine too. It's so thin and not the least bit curly at all. It feels like feathers. =( My eyebrows have also not returned. I hate this!

braveheart - sorry I didn't see your post earlier.  I would want the cysts and/or ovaries out now too.  Especially if the cysts are growing.  I had a large one rupture many years ago (I was very prone to them) and it was not a pleasant experience, so I would get rid of them before something like that happens!

Mel - my hair is pretty straight too, didn't develop any curls and feels like baby hair, kind of silky.  My hair was fine and straight before chemo as well.  My eyebrows never completely fell out but what has grown back in is much lighter hair, so unless I put the colored gel (like eyebrow mascara) on them you can't really see them.  I got the super magnified mirror out the other day and saw lots of itty bitty hair starting to grow so there is hope yet!  I think my lashes have thinned again as well but fairly evenly so I just have to load on the mascara.  Takes too long!!!

Mel and K - my brows are sooo much thinner now too!  I had Brooke Shields eyebrows that I had to pluck every single day - no joke!  I still have to pencil them in b/c what has grown back is light and sparse - and in round 2 of thinning again!

Oh - and I'm really beginning to look like I have a mullet - excellent!

mamav - my hairdresser told me before mine fell out that I was going to have to cut the new hair more than I wanted to so that it would look more "intentional" and not like a growing-out chemo mullet.  I was good and did what she said and my hair is actually cute right now.  I have highlighted it and it is almost back to blond and even though I have cut it (a lot - like 6 times!) it is still below my ears.  I know it is hard to take the scissors to the hard earned new hair, you might need to if you want to tame your mullet.  I think I am about a month ahead of you PFC and my eyebrows seem to be making a bit of a comeback so hopefully yours will start too!

Y'ALL, my hair is most amusing.  It was long and wavy and diff colors to my waist, gold, honey blonde, gray.  Well, it's now about two-plus inches in length, still wavy but basic gray, and I don't wash it every day.  Well, for some reason it developed some dandruff.  So, I've taken to putting a little lotion on my scalp, and it causes my hair to stick straight out all over.  Looks like my head blew up.  At least it keeps people at a distance, they think I'm a lunatic.  Smile.  GG
