Lung mets???

Options

I need your input.  For the past 4 days I have been short of breath with chest wall pain, some dizziness and fatigue.  Began Xeloda 7 days ago so the docs think this is a side effect but I stopped Xeloda 2 days ago.  The symptoms come and go.  Docs hospitalised me suspecting cardiac involvment or lung embolism =  4 ECGs all clear, cardiac stress test all clear, thoracic CT clear for embolism.  Three questions....

1. Would they have looked for mets on the embolism CT??

2. Would they have seen mets on the CT even if not looking??

3. Does this sound like lung mets or something else??

Thanks Day. I think I need to ask to put my mind at ease as there is still no explanation for these symptoms; they have been focusing on cardiac as a side effect - missing the forest for the trees maybe...

Very glad to hear your PET was clear.

No recon. The dizzy spells happened when I was standing talking to a friend and standing in a craft shop with no breathing problems at the time. No pulled muscle etc, unrelated to excercise etc.  This has been going on for 4 days, got the symptoms right now just sitting in bed.  Came very suddenly though.  All very strange; however I trust my onc implicitly and here in Sweden treatment is really excellent - so I am certain they will get to the reason in good time... if I am thinking something then I am certain they have too (before I did!)

They have been checking BP too, a few times it went low when I was very symptomatic. Lots of blood tests past two days also and all normal they tell me. I'm a medical mystery 

An update for anyone interested.  Turns out it was all side-effects to Xeloda.  Docs were going crazy testing my heart because the side-effects ran on for 3 days after the Xeloda was stopped (it has a half-life of only 45mins!).  I've been taken off my Navelbine also and resting for 2 weeks before we try again.

So glad it wasn't mets or cardiac issues.  I hope you do better on the next chemo you try.
