Protein Powder for Er+/Pr+?
Ladies,
I'm slowly getting back into exercising...I want to use protein shakes again, but I want to know if there is a better one out there for us er+/pr+ women?
Do any of you have any good suggestions or can tell me what your own doctors, trainers, etc, are saying is okay for us to take and tastes halfway decent?
Thanks for the help!

I drink whey protein and I did all through chemo and my onc thought it was a great idea. I did change from adding soy milk to almond or coconut milk. I do also like the Yoplait frozen fruit shakes. They are really good and filling.
Soon I will think about going back to the gym...but for now I am still in lazy mode.
Good luck!

I take raw protein - beyond organic powder made by Garden of life. It is vegan so is dairy free. It comes in 22 oz which is about a month's supply. Cost $28.
I really like it, I don't even add anything to it, just mix with water. But my friend adds all kinds of things, fruits, safflower oil, etc. etc.

I also use a whey protein powder. Champion Nutrition brand.
-
I use nutribiotic rice protein powder.

Thanks!
I know I should have asked at the beginning, but
Do the same brands make protein bars too? Are the protein bars okay for Er+/Pr+ ladies as well?
Thanks again!

Hi! I was having the same problem finding a shake without soy. My oncologist said that the amount in food is so minimal, that you'd have to eat tons in order to have an effect but did warn me to avoid soy pills. I feel better avoiding it entirely though. I tossed everything with soy in it--which is EVERYTHING. Better safe than sorry
I add SoDelicious chocolate coconut milk to my smoothies. Tastes like melted fudgesicles!
I started the Beachbody Insanity program and got a sample of Shakeology, their fitness meal replacement. Plant based and soy free. It's pricey($120/month) but very tasty! And when you think of it like spending $4 a day on lunch or dinner, it makes sense.
My Beachbody coach's mother is a BC survivor and she told me that she really relied on it during treatment. Tropical strawberry, chocolate and green berry. There's also mixed packs available. You can find them at Beachbody.com or just google shakeology.
Good luck

I love the Quest protein bars - no soy and all natural. The brownie is yummy!

Thanks for the suggestions all!
I've heard good things about Shakeology...been wanting to try them...now I will knowing that they are plant based and soy free!
Brownie protein bars, huh? Sound delish!
Thanks again to you all for sharing!

I use MyoFusion whey protein. I've tried their vanilla and chocolate peanut butter flavors, and I think they both go into smoothies really well. Some other brands I tried were still gritty or things like that.

I use pumpkin seed powder in my smoothies, specifically this one:

I used to use rice protein powder during chemo for protein shakes but found it really chalky and TBH it is a taste I don't want to re-live.
And these are my favorite protein "bars" (especially the peanut butter one):
