An almost normal day

Today is a big one for me. I just hit 5 months post chemo, and I am 2 weeks out from my one year cancerversary.

Today is the first day I have felt almost normal. I ran my first 5K in over a year today, and made great time! My hair actually looks like I meant for it to be this short, and I felt good in my own skin surrounded by healthy runners.

Got to enjoy a long lunch with 10 family members, and our son has a babysitter tonight so we can get out and go DANCING to my favorite band.

I am quite sure that I will pay for all of this tomorrow, but today, I am really happy.

It almost feels like a normal day. It is a day cancer isn't taking ANYTHING from me. Here is to so many more days like this.....for us all.

Misswin-Congrats on your upcoming cancerversay! Go out and dance the night away and have fun, dont even think about the C word. It does get better and you will get to the point where you dont think about it and start feeling more normal. Have a great time tonight and hope you feel good the morning after LOL!

Tanfastic! I gave up all 'running' many years ago when I got out of the Army. I'd walk 5K with my Corgi but not run. But I'll do a lot more distance on my 2 wheels or on my 4 legged loved ones.

For me - I started feeling 'normal' by the end of rads. Taxol had been NASTY (A/C wasn't). That was over 2 years ago.

I sort of wish I could get the natural high that so many do from running but I don't - give me my horses or my bike.
