Hi there... I read blogs and others' experiences with the needle localized (wire guided)lumpectomy the night prior to when mine was scheduled (yesterday), and cried and cried bc of the comments. After speaking with the radiologist, anesthesiologist & the surgeon, I felt more assured to proceed - they understood that the my pain ever reached to a level where I would need to "scream" - I was outta there!  It NEVER did.  The highest rating of pain I gave was a TWO!  For me, the stereotactic biopsy was way more uncomfortable. After yesterday's lumpectomy, I cried tears of JOY after the entire procedure - I was in a euphoric state.  If anyone is scheduled for a needle localized lumpectomy, please stress to your physicians that pain mgmt is a high concern of yours.  My team was on board and my experience was just the best it could've been.  I sure hope this helps anyone out there with fears of this procedure. Take a deep breath, my experience, Thank God, wasn't bad at all.  My sincerest empathy goes out to those who did...

Amy, thank you for taking the time to share this with the community! The range of experience varies SO much from person to person, and your tip about communicating with the team can be a big help to others.
