So here's my story.  Last week I went for my annual and told the doc my left breast was a little sore.  there was a hardened area in the aeriola area but no rash, itching, inverted nipple, or dimpling.  Not even warm! They did a mammogram last tuesday.  Tuesday evening the doc called and said the radiologist wanted me back the next day.  Wouldn't take no for an answer, so I went.  He did a ultra sound and a biopsy and one more mammogram when it was all said and done.  Friday morning I got the call that I had IBC.  They're sending me to Stanford cancer center this coming Friday.  

I guess the one thing I want to say is that this sight really helped me.  All I could find on IBC is that I've been given a death sentence.  My radiologist said it's not a death sentence, but it's nice to see that there are so many survivors.  I know I have a long road ahead, and it's very scary, but by finding this sight I know I'm not alone.

    I'm so sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with IBC, it's not what anyone wants to hear.  I can't believe that your Dr. was so pro-active though, that is great.  Usually we have to fight for them to listen to us and take our worries seriously.  Good luck with everything and stay in touch .  We're here to help whenever we can.

    Your doctor was really on top of this.  I'm sure you'll get great treatment at Stanford.  I'm in the East bay of Cal.

    One of the girls I met on another board when I was first sick had IBC...  In her nodes too.  She is six years out now and fine :)

    Thank you all so much, it has really helped to talk about it with people who do understand.  And yes, I feel that once the treatment plan is in place I will feel like I have some control.  I was very lucky to have the radiologist that I did.  Not many people can say they went for a mammogram on Tuesday and found out Friday they had cancer! I'd never even heard of IBC before this, so I was lucky that he knew what he was doing.  You ladies are awesome and thank you so much for the hugs and support!

    I am in australia and was diagnosed with ibc at age 27.i know how your feeling.you will get through this.good luck with all your treatments and stay positive.

    I am hoping that it is not IBC and maybe IDC. Usually IBC does not show up on mammograms, especially early stage. It is usually confirmed with a skin punch done in a surgeon's office.

    I'm not one to usually give false hope, but there is a possibility that they meant to say IDC. Anyway, I am glad that they really got things moving very fast for you!

    Not to *not* give you hope, but mine most definitely showed up *very* plainly on a mammogram - it usually doesn't, but sometimes it does.  However, the chemo did it's job and a bit over half a year later, I was declared NED, no evidence of disease.  It's now a year after that and so far so good...as far as groups go, I prefer a Facebook group because of the larger number of folks, about 120 or so, that post there...it make me feel less alone.  And some people there are incredibly active in IBC awareness and education and keep in personal contact with the best IBC docs in the country.  If any of my IBC sisters herey have a FB account and would like to be added to it, please PM me.  I don't come on here too often but will be notified by email if you send a private message.

    I am sorry to hear of your news but I have been treating my IBC for 14 months now and this is my first post! I m amazed you have the courage to get on line.  Im glad your doctor caught it early. Keep strong my dear .

    Sandi - noticed your posst just now, glad you spoke up.  Try some of the threads like You know you're a cancer patient when.... you will feel a smile coming on and may even have some laughs for others too.
