Liver Biopsy or not? Did you pathology change?

    just diagnosed with liver, lung, bone mets, onc wants to do liver biopsy. I think needle biopsies spread cancer and I'd rather just start on a chemo and see if works. Does anyone know how often pathology changes from orginal diagnosis?

    I'm so sorry to hear your news.  I hope you come and join us on the Stage IV board where there is a huge amount of support.  I also have liver mets and had a biopsy earlier this year.  My pathology didn't change, I suppose the doctors just wanted to be 100% sure that the lesions were cancer.

    Mine changed from triple negative to her2 positive after the liver biopsy. So I would recommend one.

    I have decided to go ahead with it. As extensive as my mets are I want to get the right chemo the first time. Now just waiting on an appt. I was highly ER+ the first time and HER -.
