    Good evening ladies!  Did everyone get up and move a bit today?  I had my first treatment so I am tired but can't sleep so I hopped on the elliptical for 15 mins (nothing really fast, just moving) and may walk in a bit.  Felt good to get moving.  Beautiful day in Houston today, thinking a great time to take the dog for a little walk!

    Hi all!

    I do martial arts.  Before this silly BC I was training for my Black Belt test in June.  Now I am training for a MX in June.  Not sure which was harder!  I do know which is more important.  My OBGYN tells me that after surgery I will be so light in the chest I will just fly through the air! 

    brax- I used to go to the gym a lot and the spin classes were intense.  But remember they all started where you are.  No one begins something being good at it! 

    So my next shot at black belt won't be until next year.  I plan on making it.  For now I am pitifully excited to walk a mile.  But that is where it starts.  I walk when I can, I also have a stationary bike and weights.  I find resistance bands are good when chemo brain doesn't prevent me from understanding how to use them!  After this is done I also plan to do at least one of those Susan B Komen runs for the cure.  Maybe some of use can do one together?

    P.S.  Thank you for starting this thread.  It is nice to have some good things come out of this mess.

    So happy this is started.

    Well I got off my butt for the first time in a while and walked 2K yesterday,  Had a date @ 7pm with a neighbor and it started to rain which would have been fine but we were a little leery of the thunder and lightning.  Will try again in the morning for sure.

    Argh, I've done no exercise today.

    But reading these posts have prompted me to get off my butt.  Will get on the elliptical now and do some walking.  It's gotta help, right!?!?

    Yeah Galena!

    I mucked 2 horse stalls today and practiced some kicks and punches.  Even did some combinations. No real cardio but I am going to do some situps and leg work.  I will say that stretching is REALLY good to do on hard to move days.  I mostly sit on my butt and use a belt to stretch out my legs (looped around foot).  I helps to keep me from getting too stiff from so much sitting.

    I did not walk up hills as was my intention today. Gave the dog a mile or so leisurly walk. 

    After Neulasta shot and running a few errands -- I felt pretty tired. And it was a gorgeous 80 degree day outside (Central NY in March !), weather that usually energizes me... but I let the tired eclipse the draw of the sunshine. (((sigh)))

    Try again tomorrow.

    I walked up and down the hills in my neighborhood for about 45 minutes, then another 30 minuteson the flats with my dog.  Day#3 and still none of that crazy awful Neulasta pain from last round. Crossing fingers this remains!

    Claire-I did the chilly hilly years ago, that is NOT an easy ride! That is so great that you did that! I also had 6 ac! Wish i was in shape enough to ride with you:) I am so excited about my new bike. I just had a new port put in so they said to wait until the weekend to ride, guess that is tomorrow!

    I like to bike and walk;/jog.

    Having a hard time drinking anything but did go to therapy today. Can I count that for exercise?!?scared to move too much. Don't want to activate the diarrhea!

    Msbelle - sorry you are having such a problem with the tummy!  yes Therapy counts!  Hope you feel better!

    I vote that anything that is not laying in bed or sitting on the couch counts!  As long as you are moving!

    Up until 9 years ago, I was kind of an exerciseaholic.....then the perfect storm of life events caused me to stop after 25 years.  Gained weight (lots) and never went back. I use to teach step class, nordic ski, swim, bike, downhill, hike, run, any kind of raquet sports, the whole 9 yards.  I"ve told atleast 5 friends thus far (former students) I will attempt to teach another step class summer of 2013 - a coming out party, have you. That is my future goal.  Step has sort of died off, but they all wish it hadn't, so it's a perfect synergy of want and need.

    In the meantime, I need to lose weight, walk, use my elliptical. I have a weight bench at home and I will start some weights too.  I'm just pondering when and how.  When I'm feeling lousy, I don't want to walk...when I'm feeling good, I'm traveling to see my PS and then to get chemo again...or working.  Queen of excuses.  This is from a woman who use to get up at 0330 am to take a 0530 am class 60 miles from her house!

    I will try to make the time, when and if I can and post here.  Will we be keeping this thread going post-chemo?? 

    cmcclean - I suspect the Susan Komen runs are a thing of the past unless they make some radical changes to their organizational structure, re: the Planned Parenthood fiasco that took place a couple of months ago.  I know my friends won't partake anymore until they take the politics out of the organization and get back to "finding the cure."

    My younger sister has participated in 2 Komen "60 miles in 3 days" walks in Boston. I was fortunate to be at the first one - it was quite a moving experience. At the time, my mom was in tx and my sister and her best friend walked for her. I'm pretty sure they were planning to walk this year for me and my mom. I think its so sad that Komen appears to have moved away from its original purpose (and roots!).

    Hope to get out and walk today! I'm feeling good (other than mouth sores) and the sun is out :) Hope everyone feels like doing something today.

    I forgot to mention that I jump on a rebounder (mini trampoline) daily for about 30 minutes.  It does an excellent job at keeping that lymphatic system working.  Since I've had lymph nodes removed, I feel that it is important.  I've read that the lymphatic system is an important system for moving toxins out of the body.

    TC - thanks for the reminder! I have a mini trampoline/ rebounder making a not-so-nice wall leaning decoration. Bought it prior to all the BC crap... for the lymph system. ok.. dusting it off!

    Kam - great goals! I was also a step instructor throughout the good 'ole '90s, also cardio kickboxing. I too, would love to get that energy level back... and any likeness to that body would be welcome too! I agree with your former exercise students... I miss step classes. Lets do it!

    I used to love jumping on a rebounder! I'll keep an eye out to buy one soon.

    I did some dancing today. Nothing strenuous, but I was off my butt and moving to the music. Was really fun, felt almost human again!

    Yea Galena!  Glad you are feeling well enough to shake your bod!

     I have a rebounder also, will have to dig it out!

    Day 2 of 2nd chemo and so much tired than first round.  I did not get much sleep the night before the infusion and was up at 5:30 am for 7 am blood work.  I think it is all still catching up with me.  I did run errands most of the day, hope that counts.  I plan on exercising tomorrow.  I also have a mini indoor trampoline.  What my son will think when he sees me on it lol.

    Kam170...We can keep the thread going post chemo.  I hope to keep an exercise routine of some sort forever.

    Ok. I'm joining in! I have to do something! I had lost 140 pounds before I got pregnant and found a love of running. When I got pregnant, old habits creeped in, and I gained 80 pounds. *blushing*. I would love to get back into running, but for now, I want to at least commit to walking. It's getting nice outside and the walking will do both me and the baby some good!

    Ladies, really tired today so didn't do as much as I hoped, but in between my numerous naps today I got up walked the dog, marched in placed a few times and that is about it!  Got the blood flowing at least!  Got my liquids in and tomorrow will be a better day!

    Good Job Onvacation! I feel the same. Still can't get liquids in though. Nothing taste good and water makes me feel nauseated.

    Brax: my favorite exercise is the elliptical. Having a hard time starting back though since surgery and chemo. One of my daughters just started dating a personal trainer. I told him we were going to be really good friends when my chemo was over.

    Hi everyone, I had to take the starting stats out of box above that I copied from March 2012 Chemo thread.  As I was adding peoples exercises it became a formatting nightmare!  If there are any errors, please let me know.

    Didn't get out yesterday but spent a couple of hours lugging boxes and decluttering in anticipation of getting the house ready to list so I think it counts for something.  Lifting, up and down 3 flights about 10 times.  I am having  a fitness assesment done tomorrow at our local Wellness Centre and they will draft an exercise plan for me.  Its a 10 week program and I am so looking forward to it!

    Its pretty good.  There are only 13 in Canada and I'm lucky to have one in Brampton.  Its all run on donations and volunteers.  Really great place and since all of the clients are either having some form of cancer treatment you so don't feel out of place.  They also have Yoga, art, knitting, support groups, cooking glasses, Tai Chi.  I am definatley going to volunteer after TX.
