    Hi ladies

i am not hearing impaired but I had read about some ladies from St. Louis who made this Pink Wings of Hope video:

Four brave deaf women shares there story about discovering breast cancer and their frustration in communication access while seeking support. These stories lead to the formation of DEAF Inc.'c Pink Wings of Hope, a deaf and hard of hearing breast cancer support group in St. Louis. This is a second video out of a series of three videos.

Lillian - ASL is not hard to learn!

I've been to Deaf Clubs all over the States and there are always 'hearing ' at them that are happy to interpret to any non-ASL that come without a chip on shoulder. Hubby (and friends) who is ASL ignorant somehow got invited to a Deaf Club in Australia when on port call YEARS ago. When they got home the guys told me what a great time they had and how open everybody was.

I'm not 'hard of hearing', hearing impaired' or deaf but I have been around the Deaf World/Culture for many years - my younger brother is deaf (never heard a sound).

Like you did - it is amazing how many will assume that anybody who is signing is deaf - so wrong. Be careful what you say or how you treat anyone - there may be 'hearing' there.

Hearing has nothing to do with bowling - my SIL is a fantastic bowler and she too is deaf - lifelong.
