Hello everyone,
I guess I found my group! Yes I'm a newbie here lol
plymouthpeople..... Can you please add me to yourl list?
April 11 BMX / Diep Flap
Having the Diep Flap immediately following the BMX, which I feel is a good choice for me,
One surgery one big one ,and I'm done with it, my PC told me, he would rather do it after the BMX, because there's a chance scar tissue may develope,
I'll be having radiation,he said it may cause the breast to shrink, a little which he doesn't seem too concern about , and either am I.
No I'm not happy about any of this, but I found a place for me to vent when I need too, and talk,I found some nice ppl on here, everyone is friendly , it's where I can be open anyways glad I found these boards!!!
Sending lots of prayers out to everyone here {{{{ warm hugs}}}} positive thoughts !!! -

I am so ready to do this, I can't believe I'm asking for pain and such but I would be happier if it was tomorrow. I guess this is one of those waiting is the hardest part. I'm going shopping this week for the pajama tops and such, maybe that will help pass time. Kids also have soccer tournament that I've been trying to recover from chemo to enjoy some time with them. I'm so grateful to have our group to go together with. Thanks to all of you, just finished march mastectomy board, now moving to February .. Hope everyone is enjoying a bit of springtime.
-
Ooh, ooh, I'm first!! LOL After mine is done, I'll try to get on here asap and let you ladies who are scheduled later in the month how it goes.
-
gabsbaba: you're before me (I'm 4/23) and sounds like the only other person doing MX/DIEP all in one. scary surgery isn't it. I'm finding the anxiety is building moment by moment and we're not even out of April! OMG. I could have sworn I was having a heart attack yesterday!
-
Rtnyc warm hugs to you sweetheart.....
I'm trying not to think in that direction lol, try to relax about it,you have good month
Ahead of you.....
there's no need to get yourself worked up, Like you said I'm having the same surgery as you,
Which has to be one of the more painfully ones, yes we are having two surgeries at once.
You found a good place here to vent your feelings and fears, the women here are very warm and loving,
Your are having anxiety which is it be expected, should ask your dr if you can take something for it, like at bedtime, that way it won't keep you from routines, I take one before bedtime and it helpse sleep,
As for myself I don't know, how I really feel about this whole cancer thing in front of me
I'm upset and I don't want to go though this, but here I am, and after all is done I'll be cancer free,
And I'm a woman of faith, and I put my trust in God, I lean on me to give me pace with all of this going on in my life.My family is praying for me, and I feel this is why I'm so clam about this, we all need a melt down from time to time, but one can't let it get out of hand,
Because we need a clear head....
So RtNyc.. ~~~~I'm wrapping you in a warm blanket....... And sending you {{{{ warm hugs}}}} and prayers your way with positive thoughs~~~ -

Wow, this group is growing. It's bitter sweet. So aweful we r all having to go through all of this but I feel so blessed to have a place to go and ask questions, vent, and just get support. Welcome Vegangal, Karina, Judy and anyone else I missed. You are all important. Lisamarie, how r u doing? I'm still hanging in there. The cravings are becoming far less. I think it's more of a mental thing now. Monday the 26th is my preop apptment. That has my mind a little crazy. Any of you girls have your preop yet? Any info I need to know......Hugs to you all....... .
-
Hey VeganGal, I will be thinking of you that day before mine! I, too, am vegan, BTW.
Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies. I know I will feel supported along the way. This is going to be busy month of recovery from chemo and prep for this next phase of healing. My head is spinning. I think that the neo-adjuvant chemo kind of delayed the reality of what I have...even with the bald head! Having a mastectomy sure seems more "real"...and permanent. Yikes. -
Sony 22,I am one of the 4/4/12 ladies, and I had my pre-op appt last week. The important things I learned that I didn't know before were that we won't be able to put our arms up over our heads after surgery so any tops that go on over the head are going to be impossible to wear for a while - we need clothes that button up the front - and we need to have some clothes and a plan for dealing with the bulbs from the drains. Some of us have bought the special camisoles that have drain pockets, some have drain belts, and there are some great suggestions earlier in this thread about solutions for showers and home versions of drain pockets and belts. Otherwise I got sheets of information, not all of which I've read, and some advance supplies for dealing with the drain tubing and bulbs. They also go over cleaning and clearing the tubing, and emptying and measuring the liquid from the drains.plymouthpeople, I know what you mean about trying to copy and paste - I couldn't do it either, but I see where other people are managing to get pictures and what looks to be outside copy onto other forums, so someone must know. If you do find out how to do it at some point, let us know.hugs to all surgery sisters :-))
-
p.s. Thank you also for being the one to keep our calendar list. You are our hero.
-
I am told I am not going to have a preop appt . I just had an excisional biopsy on Feb 7th so they say all I am going to do is a telephone interview .. I guess in a way it kinda sucks as I wont get any more info .. I got to have Neuclear medicine on April 23 the day before , I guess that is to locate the SN during operation ... So I am guessing I am going to rely on you ladies for all the good info ... Hugs and hope all of you have a great day
-
Hey All . . . ."Surgery Sisters" . . . that's awesome . . . I love that!!
Karina . . . and we'rre "Vegan Sisters" too . . . cool:-) There is another vegan thread going . . . you should jump on!!
At my hospital (in Toronto), we have to go for a full 1/2 day pre-op seminar put on by the surgical nurse. It literally goes from 9am to Noon, and they go over everything apparently. Mine is on April 17th . . .
Thanks for the tip about the "shirts". My sister came over the other day and bought me 5 new pairs of PJ's . . . for post surgery . . . so sweet . . . but they are all "over the head" . . . never thought of that . . . . all these little things that become big things that we don't think of . . .
-
Sony, I forgot too say ...I am doing okay I am 26 days cigarette free and 8 days nicotine free .. How are u doing ? I still have cravings.. but I guess by now it is definatly a mind game !!! I want it out of my mind !!!!! lol
