Here's another thought. If your sister made up an ID to be able to search this site, and if you know it, you can block it and she won't be able to read ANYTHING you post!!! She also won't be able to change to another ID as the Mods can find double IDs very easily!!
-
I completely agree with Barbe!!
Please don't stop reaching out for support here because of what your sister did.
I went back and read your posts and I can understand why your sister is upset.
She SHOULD be upset! She should be with herself! It also sounds like her husband and your niece need to take a good hard look at the way they are behaving too!
I don't get angry very often but your situation infuriates me!
Man, if you can't be supportive at a time like this ... shut the F*ck up!
-
Your post breaks but heart, but I completely understand. I found this site yesterday and truly hope it will be a place where I can share how a feel without worrying about what my family or friends think. I am on facebook, Angie Buie, if you would like to message me privately. I am learning that finding understanding support is vital in this fight.
-
Sorry this has happened to you. Perhaps you could PM the Mods as they suggested and get a fresh start here.
It sounds like your sister may be miffed that she is not the center of attention. Try yiur best to brush it off and focus on your own well being. You certainly don't need anymore stress. You can't change people and I expect this has always been her nature.
Quote from Oprah...don't roll your eyes yet..lol...this is a good one
When a person shows you who they are...Believe them!
Very true words so don't expect anything different from your sister...she has already shown you her true self. Sad but true. -
I came here under a different name for many reasons. One, my own family doesn't know I have cancer and (2) I deal with a psycho ex-wife who only escalated her hateful behaviors when she found out I had cancer - nothing like kicking someone to the curb when they are already so low to begin with.
I agree - pick another user name and come back. You can PM the sisters here who helped you so much and let them know what your new user name is.
-
Please don't let your sister take control of your life. It took me 45 years and having BC to realize that some things in life aren't worth it. Unlike some people - my diagnosis made me think about who was in my life that wasn't worth it. My sister is manipulative, hateful, and a pathological lier. I decided that she was the biggest poison I had in my life and get her go. It was hard and has caused a few extended family issues but so worth it! Hang in there and look out for you!
-
This whole episode might serve as a warning to any other newbies here.
It really is wise if you don't use your real name or give too much other identifying information. This board is open to be read by anybody and everybody ... even if they don't register. So ... if you want to be free to express your real feelings ... as you should be ... it is best to be careful upfront.
I hope Kayce does come back ... and lets us know who/where she is via PM.
-
Looks like its time to arrange a rescue mission for Kayce!! We'll need some booze, a fire pit and blankets. I'll pick up some duck tape incase The Stalker is following.
We can start with smoke messages! -
Its sad when our battle w cancer is over ruled by a family member. If ur peace of mind was found here u need to keep it here and away from the negativity. Ask urself would this be done for me or for someone Else.
-
Don't leave. There is support for you here. You need all the support you can get. You need a place to breathe and be honest and cry and rant and whatever else you need to do and it should be safe for you to do that.
Poo on the people who would rob you of the love and support available to you.
This site is a life and heart saver for many of us. You are OUR sister here!
-
Time for a new id....but it begs the question...if you are getting support here and not through family...then that should say something to your sister....she should be happy you have such a wonderful support system. If you want us to know who you are, pm us your new name orhterwise, get a new id and post and get all the support you need. Sounds like now is not the time to leave the boards...just a thought.
-
This thread has been quiet for a while now
Kayce .......I hope you are here under a different name getting all the support that you want and need.
If you are here please let someone know as we are all prayin for you

Hi Grannydukes and everyone - I've stayed around and am so happy I did. I've been posting in the January Rads section as I started my radiation in January and will be finished this Tuesday 3/6!!! It's been a long crazy journey but I am hanging in and doing well. things with my sister and her family got extremely ugly - she hasn't even checked in on my mother. I made the decision to cut her out of my life and to be honest I feel so much better - like a weight has been lifted. I came to realize that she or her family could never ever come up with an acceptable explaination or apology for what they have done - it was that bad - so with that I've decided I don't need to think about them any longer. Since that decision/realization I've felt lighter and better and stronger. My family knows how I feel and support my decison - they don't like it but they know it is right for me and to be honest I don't ever see it changing - like I said there really is nothing that could change it - and I've worked with a therapist through it so I'm good.
As I said I'm done with rads next week and I survived fairly well - had/have quite the burns and lots of shooting pain but am surviving. Not looking forward to the next phase which is meds - hear the side effects can be horrific, but we'll see - going in with positive thoughts!
Hope you are all doing well!!! Love you guys!
-
SO glad to hear you doing well, Kayce! I'm so glad that you have gotten the support you needed.
-
You're doing mahvelous dahling!!! Keep up the good work!!
-
Kayce234, Glad you stayed. It is hard letting go of relationships, particularly family but it is sometimes neccessary. God luck with the next phase of treatment.
-
I had to edit this. Kayce, I hadn't seen your very recent post. I was resonding to the original one when I posted what I posted below. I hope everybody understood that. I thought I had read through the thread, clearly I missed something.
I am really happy for you that you've been able to deal with such a huge stressful thing in your life.
-
Good for you Kayce! No, I don't know you but your thread was touching. As others have said, don't let any one stomp on your recovery. Be yourself!
-
Kayce,
I am truly sorry to see that your privacy was violated in such an egregious fashion. I am glad you stayed around and I am pleased to see that you handled the situation with your sister appropriately.
I cannot imagine anyone telling you how to deal with your cancer. It's like all those people, many of whom who've never been through this, try to tell you that maintaining a positive outlook is the only way to "beat" cancer. They don't know what the hell they're talking about, but they tend to say it with great certainty. -
Amen, Charles! The next time someone tells me that I can beat cancer with a positive attitude, I'm going to key their car. -
sweetbean wrote:

... which would do a lot to enhance my positive attitude
I don't mind the whole positive attitude approach to life. I actually maintained a reasonably good outlook through this crap, but the things that offend me and offend me deeply are the implications that 1) you can "cure" cancer with attitude and, by logical extension, 2) that many of those who succumb to cancer just weren't "positive enough." Bullshit.
-
Exactly!
-
Kayce,
And to think I always wanted a sister.
Please do what the moderators suggested so you can be here for yourself and your health.
I would tell your sister to "go take a flying F_ _ KING leap out of your life".
It's easier said than done but if you can hold back on how much this hurts you, then she won't get what she wants, which is to hurt you. (why, I can't figure out)
Much love to you........
