FREAKING JUST A BIT, NEED MY SISTER'S

Hey sister's,  I am a little freaked out!!   I need some advice please................

I went to see my Gyn. about a momth ago.  I had a vaginal US,  the tech noticed that my uterus had thickening. So when I saw the Dr. he said,  Well we can't know if it's cancer being that I am on tamox.  He said maybe he would biopsy me in sept. but, he was not overly worried because tamox can cause thickining of the uterus, OK??   I left feeling weird..........Well yesterday  I saw my BS I told her about the GYN visit,  Her response and I quote, " He did not biopsy your uterus,  are you kidding me!!""  She was not happy and is sending me for a second opinion , biopsy and a DNC.....

She said that it is not true,  that tamox always causes thickening,  and that it was probebly to soon for it to be cancer because I have only been on tamox. since last sept.  However, I then said , do you think it's C and if it is what do we do?  She told me if they go in and find any A typical cells it would be best to just take it out. or stop tamox and go on an AI.   She said when uterus cancer is caught early it is very curable and there is no relation to the BC. So now I am scared but, I told my husband  I was not worried that I would be fine, I just don't know if this could  be the big C or is it a tamox. side effect...........Has anyone experienced this during tamox. and do you think I should be concerned. I had a ultra sound about 9 months ago and there was no thickening............ I am sorry for the ramble, I just need my girls tonight , I hate this constent unknowing!! Take the damn thing out and anything else that can get cancer, thats how I feel, truth be told!!!! Then again the thought of more surgury just sucks............... I know it will all be ok,  just looking for some feedback!! Oh one more side note, couuld this have anything to do with the fact that I had an Ooph, at age 41??

By the way happy st. pattys day...........Your probebly all out drinking  green beer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you

Peace and Love, xoxo

I had a US with biopsy a couple of years ago due to thicking of the uterus wall that was B9. That was before I started on the Tamoxifen though. I wish I had more info for you. I will bump this up though and maybe someone else can help

Steph, I have no experience with uterus thickening, since I had mine out with ovaries. But I have read a lot , that it can happen with Tamox. Here is to send you positive thoughts and good luck. I know exactly, how you feeling, as I am having my own "next " scare at the moment. There is always something to keep us on our toes, isn't it?? We really, really could do with a break...

Steph, I had uterine thickening when I was on tamox. The gyn said it was normal for tamox and monitored it.

I don't remember the amount but she told me she'd seen more than twice as much thickening in a short period of time with tamox.

    Best of luck.

    Steph,

I also had that when on Tamox.  I think I was on Tamoxifen for about a year and half total.  Just in case they biopsied mine and it was fine.  Shortly after  I ended up having ovaries removed along with uterus (no issues, just getting rid of estrogen) so now I am on Femara.

I know you are worried but to me it sounds typical of Tamoxifen.  I am sure your oncologist is being extra careful since you have a history.  That's what they do with all of us.  I can never decide if I hate it or love it when they are extra cautious with us.

No experience with this, just sending my support. It really does seem like we go from one scare to another with barely a break in-between. Here's to lucky leprechauns for all. Love and hugs to you, Adele

Steph, it's VERY normal.  I had some thickening and they never did a biopsy.  However, I never mentioned it to my onc, either, lol.  Oncs are SUPER cautious and will biopsy everything.  They are wired that way.  I had an issue last year with my bladder that my PCP was totally unworried about but when my onc heard about it sent me in to a specialist for gobs of tests.  Turned out...it was nothing to worry about ;)

Hugs hugs!  It sucks, but tis life as a "patient with history of cancer".

    Hi Steph,

I have never been on tamoxifen, but had some bleeding issues. I did have a biopsy and thankfully it came back negative for cancer. I just wanted to send you a big hug. I know how scary it is when things just aren't right.

    Hugs and Prayers,

    Lexi

HI honey, yep, I had endometrial thickening when I was on Tamoxifen. My biopsy was negative.

This is a VERY typical SE of Tamoxifen.

(Even though my tumor was er /pr negative, my prophylactive mastectomy path report  came back with alot of atypical cells so  Tamoxifen  Recomended)

    Hi Steph,

I used to have bleeding and unterine thickening during "peri menopause" and my Gyno did uterine biopsy and diagnosed me wifth a condition called "hyperplasia", which she said was a "pre-cancerous condition of the uterus, and was later treated with "progesterone".  With this in mind, I remember when I was taking Tomox last year I noticed while I was on it I had felt a little crampy once in a while, just like those premenstrual type cramps.  I have not seen my Gyno since going on the tomox, but I'm now wondering If those cramps where a sign of uterine thickening and something else I have to worry about now.

Oh Steph, isn't it just unfair the way this disease can just keep scaring us?  I have no personal experience with tamoxifen, but I do have a bit of personal experience with fear.  Hang in there.

    (((Hugs Steph)))),

I haven't had a uterine ultrasound yet but have been on Tamoxifen for quite a while.  Do you mind if I ask why they did the ultrasound?  I've been having my normal GYN and ONC check ups and no one has mentioned this so far.  If thickening is a SE I'd like to be sure mine is in the "normal" range.

Keep us posted on what they say.

    Take care,

    Sharon

Sharon,  in my own circumstances my GYN would be able to feel if my uterus was enlarged a little due to routine exam.  If she palpated the uterus during internal exam and it didn''t feel right to her she'd order a vaginal ultrasound to see if there was thickening or if there were any fibroids.. I'm thinking after all this discussion I should get back for visit to her now that I'm off the Tamox.

You know it's funny because I was the one that pushed for US, due to the tamox...........

My onc. had mention that I should have one once a year, because I started with the tamox. first. Even though I took my ovarie's out my MO wanted to put me on the tamoxifen instead of an AI,

I guess he will be able to keep me on the the blockers longer this way..........But I don't want to have to worry about my uterus for the next 3and 1/2 years, you girls know what I mean...............Maybe it was a blessing, I know thickening is not normal, so I need to pursue it!!!!! Barb, I would not worry to much, I don't want to bring fear in for you gals, we all have enough. I am scheduled for a second opinion and more info regarding this subject, also I might have a biopsy. I will keep you all posted on this, thank you for being here for me as you always are...........but please don;t let it scare you, either way it will be ok, even if it is worst case, hey, just take it out, right?????

    Love, xoxox
