blair Thanks for the update, so glad to hear she is doing well
!!! Have a safe trip!!

blair - business class is the bomb! Glad to hear your wife is doing well - that is what we all hoped for! I also had to step up my calcium and Vit D, I was osteopenic prior to chemo and Femara and they both can take a toll. I have been supplementing with 3000iu of Vit D for 6 months, and my D level has gone from 16 to the mid-30's. I had been stable with osteopenia for about 10 years but did have more loss in the year of treatment so I also had an injection of Prolia. I will get that every 6 months to help strengthen bones and prevent any more loss. Weight bearing exercise is also beneficial so good that she is tackling the weights.

I am in Beijing again. I saw my wife's bone density scan report before I left. The problem is in the femur (thigh) where the thigh goes into the hip. I can't remember now if it is the left femur or right femur. The treatment is Vitamin D, Calcium and weight exercise. I am not sure if she will need additional medication. I am going to take my wife and kids on a 10-day vacation after this business trip is completed in April. It will be their spring break.

It is now Wednesday April 4th. Yesterday, my wife had her sixth herceptin treatment. She is doing well with no additional problems to report since I last posted. Tomorrow we will go on vacation. I hope everybody is doing well.
-
Have a wonderful time on your vacation. Take some time to relax!

Hello Blair
Great to see you on the board again.
Always good to know how you and your wife are doing.
I love the sense of the normalcy of your lives returning.
Best wishes

Hi I was wondering if you knew if a HER2 showing up as equivocal is considered positive or negative. I guess it is right in the middle so it is confusing
-
Scaredycat I was equivocable on the oncotype dx, negative on fish, and positive on IHC!!! My MO wasn't convinced I was truly Her2 + ( there are some reports that state IHC is better done on a "fresh" sample, mine was done weeks later on a parafin embedded sample.) but we were not going to take any chances and I had the Herceptin with Taxotere and Cytoxan. So glad I did!!! I didn't want to miss out on any meds that could help me. Have you met with an Oncologist?

Is orange a doctor? I know one lady who has had 3 recurrences in same breast in past 20 yrs and doing great. I know another who had regional recurrence TN is 24 yrs out. Plenty more on this site. I had a local recurrence last June .
Telling people that local recurrence is not curable is kinda morbid. -
Netty,
This thread hasn't been active in almost a year . -
Hi Netty,
I am very sorry about your recurrence.
I think you are taking my post on page 6 out of context... It was directed to the OP who was discussing his wife's Her2+ cancer. I did not say that a local recurrence is not curable. I said that for Her2+ cancer, a recurrence is usually (meaning most of the time, but not always) distant (metastatic) and the usual outcome for metastatic BC is death (although thanks to targeted drugs, there are many more very long term survivers of metastatic Her2+ cancer... yeah!). For Her2+ cancer, even if recurrence is local, most of the time (not all of the time), it will be followed by a distant recurrence. I have no idea what the stats are for TN recurrences.
