Has anyone had experience with Makoplasty Knee Surgery?  I don't know if my arthritis is connected to cancer and treatment in any way, but since I have completed chemo and radiation, my arthritis has become drastically worse. I am in constant pain with my right knee and am taking Celebrex with little relief of pain or symptoms. I have seen an arthritis doctor and have had the cortisone shots twice.  The last time the shots brought minimal relief.  I am seeing an orthopedic doctor later this month.  Hopefully my knee is not bad enough for knee replacement so I am trying to find out more about Makoplasty.  I always appreciate when others take the time to answer my posts.

Hi mimiof4  I recently had arthirisocpic knee surgery to clean up a torn menis. I had the surgery which went really smoothly, awoke with no pain. Started PT the next day and still going to PT after 4 weeks.  My ortho doc feels I will be a candidate for knee replacement when I feel ready.Undecided  Right now I am just so glad to be able to walk without a cane and a limp with pain.I too have arithritis  in my left knee and and lower back,  I think chemo and hormonals have added to its progression  Makoplasty Knee Surgery is a minimally invasive treatment  and i've heard that it's don for those who do not need a full knee repacement.

Mimi, I have no experience with knee surgery...yet! Smile  But I feel your pain...I'm having issues with arthitis too.  I had some in my knee before BC but since chemo it has gotten worse.  My dr told me it would because I was complaining of knee pain during chemo.  Mine is in my right knee and hip and it radiates down that leg bone.  I'm not on anything for it right now, maybe I should be.  I hope your appts go well and you're able to get relief.  Let us know how it goes.

Mimi, I have no experience with knee surgery either, but a lot with pain, sometimes a terrible pain. It started with Tamoxifen, though my doctors do not admit it. I had an x-ray last week, which showed mild arthritis and spine osteochodrosis. My doctor said I can do arthriscopic surgery too, if I want. But I am trying to resolve the pain without it. I have tried everything, and mine is like Jenny's, radiating down the leg and up the hip. I started taking chondroxide tablets 10 days ago and can tell that hip, leg pain have almost gone and knee is much, much better. Sorry, I may not be of any help, but wanted to share, as I think, most of us get the same kind of pains and aches from similar treatments, whatever our doctors say.

Wish you good luck with the surgery. Let us know how you feel.
