OK I am a 4 year survivor and have not posted on this thread in a very long time as the fear is not as intense it was the first 2 years.I had surgery 4 weeks ago to repair my reconstruction and place a sling on one of the implants that was severly going towards my armpit. I was recovering fine then got a fever 5 days post surgery. The Doc thought early cellulitis and put  me on heavy antibiotics. I also came down with a virus at same time bad cough body aches the works, That piece lasted for 3 days and the fever seemed to leave so who really knows if I had a bad virous our really cellulitis because he was really just being cautions without a lot of outward signs.Anyway it has been a very slow recovery and the cough has lingered ( i tend to cough for weeks after a virous due to allergies etc) I have posted on lingering coughs the last 3 years it is actually amusing. So anyway My Dr. Now put me on Levaquin for what he thinks is a sinus infection. But for someone who was working out every day pre surgery, fit, and energetic I feell like SH**%$ now 4 weeks post surgery. I am wondering if I should be concerned for the lack of energy, weakness, and lingering cough, (not super worried about as it is very familiar) I am also so sleepy since starting the Levaquin 4 days ago I can literally wake up take the kids to school and come home and sleep for 2 hours (I NEVER DO THIS).I am of course worried and on that fear path again, any thoughts?Wondering if the antibiotics can make you feel like this, lingering virus long recovery from surgery (that is not like me either)HELP???

Does the worry never go away for us, lol?  I'm betting it's the antibiotics. I can tell you that I've been on antibiotics for three weeks due to cellulitis (I'm 6 wks out from a BMX and have TE's) and I feel HORRIBLE! I'm so run down, weak, and feel like I'm just not recovering well.  Like you said, it's so not like me considering I'm young and in shape and I generally bounce back from things quickly.  I was feeling really great after the BMX until that cellulitis hit.  Now it seems like I'll never feel good again.  I think infections just take so much out of you. Add antibiotics on top of that (a necessary evil, I think) and your body just takes a beating.  Hope that helps a little and I hope you feel better soon!

mmm5 give yourself a break.  Your body has had major surgery and before it had a chance to recover it was hit with a virus and mega anti-biotics!..................it is going to take you quite a while to fully recover and get back to your normal.  Your super fatigue is from your body trying to heal and get rid of all the foreign bodies that have invaded it.  Take care and just rest...........you will get better in time.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

I'm with chrissyb on this. You had surgery, maybe infection, maybe cellulitis, mega drugs… of course you're tired. Your body uses a lot of energy to heal. Its one of the reasons I hated doing surgery especially if it required general anesthesia.

I assume your doctors have been informed of all your symptoms. If they continue not to improve tell them again but I think you will start to eventually feel better.

Yes the surgery ended up being more extensive as the implant had done much damage to chest wall did over 50 internal stitches and was under general anesthesia for 3 hours.

I gues the absolute weariness and weakness ( a walk is too much) and some night sweats are what is concerning.

Dx 2 years ago however 8 months after radiation got cellutitus, sinus thing, cellutitus again, sinus thing again. Then sinus thing again in Jan.  (LE popped in too)  Have felt bad since and they found a thyroid problem, had it scanned it is fine but I am hyperthyroid which also makes you feel bad.  Going to go to dr on Frid and will take more meds for that.  My energy level is low and I just gave up and dont do much (except whine).  I am older but was great before bc.  Its all very exhausting and if I never see another dr I would be happy.

mmm5  the night sweats will come because your body is still fighting the virus and the wearines and weakness will be a result of that.  If this is still to the same degree in a couple of weeks then I would get myself checked out by the doc but I'm sure it is all caused by the surgery and virus recovery.  Being under anaesthesia for 3 hours is major!

    Ohhh mmm5, I find you again. . . worrying. . Frown

I don't have much else to add, but your body has been through a great deal already, even if your initial surgeries were 4 yrs ago--sometimes I think the effects of these kinds of things are a bit cumulative.  Your body is probably just exhausted!  All the tearing down and then building up and repairing it has had to do these past years--I think it would be more surprising if your body just jumped right back up to normal!  I doubt if these signs are worrisome for mets.  We all totally understand your worrying, though.  We get it.

Also, what is your menopausal status now?  Are you still on Lupron?  I know from my own experience that this low estrogen has really affected me.  I still feel like I'm about 71 instead of 41.  And I'm always sleepy and totally exhausted, too.  I find myself nodding off at weird times, no matter how much sleep I get.   I think it might be one of my medications, but don't know if it's the femara or ???  But yes, mets has gone through my mind as a possible explantation for the extreme exhaustion, too--I won't lie--but I'm trying to stay away from those thoughts!  There are so many other logical reasons that I can come up with that I like better!

If you get diarrhea, go to en emergency room. Antibiotics can cause cdiff. And, yes, they can cause all the symptoms you are experiencing, they are not as benign as people think.

    Hope you recover soon!

cellulitis is a rough illness, that with surgery is more than enough to exhaust you for a very long period of time.  Nightsweats can be from many things, cellulitis, exhaustion, forced menopause, shoudl I continue???  I know when I was hospitalized with cellulitis the first time it seemed every night the nurses had to come in and change my sheets because they were so soaked from my sweating.  I couldn't believe how bad it was.  This all happened around 2001 or 2002 and here we are 10 years later and I still can experience night sweats for whatever reason????  I think your body is screaming out that it wants more time to heal please.
