mamosite after TNBC

Hi.  I've just been diagnosed with TNBC and am planning treatment.  Any thoughts on mamosite radiation after lumpectomy?   I qualify according to the radiation oncologist.  He says there's not much data to say what the reoccurrence and survival rates are, so is telling me to decide carefully.  I have read the few research reports that are out there and he is correct that the sample is too samall to draw any concrete conclusion.  I really don't want to go the usual six week route of radiation with the skin issues.   What are your thoughts?  Anyone with the experience and how are you doing?

I really do not have much info on mammosite and only know one gal that had it and she was hormone positive not TN.  I know my onc did not recommend it, nor did my radiologist, but that was 3 years ago, so possibly that made a difference.  I wish you all the best with your treatment and suggest you come on over to the "Calling all TN's thread" - you will receive much support, info and love during your upcoming treatments.  Stay strong, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and we are all here for you.

Hi, I'm triple negative, too, and my radiation oncologist said I could participate in a clinical trial for mammosite radiation. I asked if there was any concern because of my TN status and he said he had no issues with it whatsoever.  That said, I didn't do it because it was a random study and there was a 50/50 chance I would get the longer radiation anyway,  So, I opted for the whole breast radiation. In Canada, the whole breast radiation protocol is different than in the US.  Here it's a shorter course of treatment, in my case the regimen was three weeks. Good luck with your decision.
