Burples in my foobs?
Namaste!
I just had a bilateral revision yesterday that addressed multiple issues. During the revision I was exchanged out of the gummie bears and now have Mentor Hi Profile 700 rounds. I have been noticing some very strange "burples" or "burpettes"that I hear coming from the area of my implants. I don't feel anything. The first time I heard it I thought "did I just burp" but it didn't seem as if I had burped. After I heard it several times I realized it was coming from the implants. This never happened with the gummies. Has anyone else experienced this? It is totally wierd. As a nurse I thought maybe it was some variation of crepitus, but there is no air under the skin that I can detect or cause crackling of.

Not sure I can help, but I had all kinds of crazy noise with my TEs, anytime I would bend down they made a cracking/creaking sound. I hope things go well with your new implants and you stop "burping" soon.

Karla, I just recently experienced this when I went skiing in Colorado a couple of weeks ago. I browsed the internet searching for answers and apparently this burping/gurgling can happen at higher elevations. I realize this is not your situation, but I did find something that might be relative:In my research, I read somewhere that this can also happen immediately following placement of the implants in some women, and that, as time goes by, the body will absorb the "air" eventually, and the noises will go away. I am 5 months post-exchange so this was not the case for me.For me, the noises went away after about a week in the mountains - after my body had time to adjust. I also, have not heard any noises since returning from above sea level~ Hope this helps.Talk to your PS about it. Good Luck!

Thanks ladies. I did get to ask the PS on Wed on my first post op appointment. He said the gurgles are there because he puts extra local anesthetic ? between the capsul and the implant or maybe he said between the skin and the capsule but where ever he put it he said the local would gradually absorb and the gurgles would then go away.

Karla my implant made a crazy noise right after exchange....when the swelling went down, the noise went away. I think it was noisy for about a few weeks....it made a sloshing sound like a waterballoon. Especially when I scratched. It was crazy but it stopped. Good luck.

Karla -- why did you revise and swap implants? Why did you go from your gummies to more traditional silicone? The reason I ask is because I am considering revision from silicone to gummy.
Thanks!

I'd love to hear as well, because I am considering the same!

naturemom and geewhiz: The reason for my revision was multifold. When I had TEs my left TE migrated down and lateral. At the time of exchange the PS did a capsulorraphy to correct that and to place the implant up where it belonged. Unfortunately my tissue failed to hold the permanent sutures used during the capsulorraphy and the left gummie dropped again, both down and lateral. In addition, that gummie rotated 90 degrees so that the point of greatest projection was lined up vertically with my sternum instead of in the lower pole where it belonged and the slope that should have been the upper pole was actually aimed towards the area under my armpit. In additon to that problem I ended up with no inferior mammary fold (IMF) on either side but worse on the right. The look with and without clothes was rather bizarre. In order for a bra to help a bit I had to glue the bra to my abdominal skin (where the bottom of the left gummie was) and then tighten the strap to pull the implant with the skin up to the level of the right one. I also had to glue the skin under the right implant to the bra otherwise the bra slid up over the mound because there was no IMF to "hold" the bra in place. I changed PSs for the revision so that the work would be done using alloderm. Things look very good right now, but I have no guarantees that the good results will be permanent, but with alloderm I feel I have a decent chance. The PS did try to put the gummie bears back in, but said they just did not look right on me so he went with the silicone smooth rounds instead. Before the revision I knew he was going to make the final decision while I was under and I was OK with that. Some people have felt that the gummies were firmer than they expected. For me, who had very dense breasts before cancer, I felt they were very similar to my naturals, if not even a bit softer. So far, I am still pretty swollen, bruised and tender so can't really judge the difference in feel. I would have liked to have gone bigger and I think the 800s would have been fine on me, but the PS did not want to risk the extra weight on my tissues which had already failed twice before. I am OK with being smaller since it gives me a better chance at this revision being successful. Just a note to add. I am to be in a wired bra 24/7 for 3 months. One week down, 11 to go.

I love this website! I arrived in Denver yesterday, ten months after my exchange surgery and last night my foobs were crackling and gurgling like crazy. When I would roll over my niece could hear it. After a quick Google I found that this is normal after surgery...but it wasn't until coming to this site that I got reassurance that this happens afterward also.

Bump. Good to know this is all normal.
