Back on the Aromasin :(
Well it's been quite a year ladies. I remember last summer I was so miserable on the Tomoxifen I went off it and told onc my quality of life was horrible. He had already switched me from Arimidex to Tomox and I found those SE much less tolerable. During that time I've spent the year dealing with the impaired mobility from knee injury, PT, surgery, and other issues. Because of this I felt I couldn't bare to go back on any hormonals becuse of SE issues. He convinced me to get on the Aromasin when my knee surgery was over. So I am now finishing up PT from for the surgery, went thru the scare last week of mammogram and US fears of recurrence and so once that was cleared and resolved I went back on the AI. I've been taking it for 5 days, and so far so good. Just wanted to share this with you all.

Barb, may I ask you, in which way Tamoxifen made you miserable, i.e. pain, depression, etc. The reason I am asking is because I have been on it for 4 months and my joint pain is so bad, especially knees. After I am done with my daily chores, it hurts so bad , I can't move.
Hope Aromasin will be easy for you with no SE. Time to feel good and more joy.

Hi Karina - To answer your question about the Tomoxifen SE's, I felt they were so intolerable because it affected my mood so much as well as the sudden wieght gain and water retention despite the fact that I don't eat sugar, or anything with white flour. I am mostly a salad and fruit, and whole grains, and occasional chicken and fish all in small portions. I have always been active until the knee injury. But for me the mood and weight gain were what did me in. Arimidex was very hard for me too. It caused severe bone and joint pain to the point I was scanned twice for mets, and also the pain and obvious problems of vaginal atrophy were another SE from the Arimidex. That was the only good thing about the Tomoxifen. Vaginal atrophy ended, . I really hope the SEs' from Aromosin will be tolerable.

Thanks Barb. I did gain weight from chemo and then tamox, and trying to loose it. But so far my mood is ok, well it can swing, but I think, more from general anxiety, aches and pains, than tamox. After I started magnesium, calcium, zinc combination, I feel calmer.
My only SE from Tamox is pain in knees, shifting from one to the other, worse when I am on my feet. So I am going to have them checked tomorrow, probably an x-ray, then will go from there. Just hope to find a solution to this pain.
I too hope Aromasin is tolerable for you.
