It only took one week to get my BRCA and BRAT test results back.  Have you tried calling to see if the results are in?

Thanks. I guess I will call The place I had my mammogram. I do not have a counselor right now. I was not planning on taking the test and when I had my mamo the girl told me how good the test it. Thanks for the advice.

Wow - I just got word my results are finally in. Had the test back in October. Not sure if they took longer because I am in Canada? I was told that they would take 4-6 months when I went initially.

    Hannah,

Check out what the main Breastcancer.org site says about Getting Genetic Test Results.

    Hope this helps!

Mine took about 10 days for the BRAC 1 and 2.  Then I requested the BART test and that took about another week.  I hope you hear something soon.  Waiting is so hard....

Hannah, the genetic counsellor is great.  They will advise you on insurance questions, and if you are positive what your "new" schedule for routine testing should include.

Mine took about 2 weeks, my genetic counselor told me that they had to send them to Colorado. However, I was curious how helpful your counselors actually were. Mine just had a consultation with me and my family when we all got tested and then told us the results and I haven't heard from her sense. Is this normal?

Thank you. I am going to look into that tomorrow for myself. I will also call for my results.

hannah, my experience is the same.   Made appt with geneticist, she emailed a family form to fill out.  I had to email it back to her and she diagrammed it.  When I showed up it was explained in depth, I was given a brochure and a sheet with statistics and sent downstairs to have blood drawn.  Got the call about 8 days later and that was pretty much it.  She mailed me the actual paperwork back from Myriad, the testing facility.

    Hi Jenifer231!

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble. You may want to start a thread of your own in the "Not diagnosed, but worried" forum. This is an old thread (most recent post until yours is almost 4 years old!) in a forum called "Positive Genetic Test Results." Probably not where you want to be.

Just copy your post and create a new thread in the Not diagnosed, but worried forum. (If you have been diagnosed, there are other forums...just check the "All Topics" link in the blue bar at the top of the page on the left and choose a forum that makes sense...and then tell us more about what has happened so far. ;-))

    See you there!

I had the test on February 4, and was told it would take 3 weeks. Then I got a call a week ago from the lab confirming that my insurance would pay, but told me it takes 4-6 weeks and not to expect a result until mid-March. But I just got the call from the genetic counselor with the result today, so that was 25 days. (It's negative for the full breast-ovarian cancer panel!) I was under the impression it would take considerably longer, if my insurance could not pay sufficiently and I would have to wait until later in the year when I would meet my maximum out of pocket.
