Trying hard to lose the pounds!!!!!!!!!

today I had PT and I did a lot of upper body exercise, approximately 30 minutes or so. I did laundry today. I started wearing my pedometer and I can convert geneeral housecleaning , like my bedroom & bath today into steps.
I think I did better on eating. I need to write down dinner and my last few snacks. I have had this awful cough so I need to add calories for my cough syrup and cough drops, Isn't that a _itch! I di get a 30 minute walk outside today.
I am going to try and add a short treadmill workout in the AM in addition to my walks and PT exercises. I wonder what I burn doing those exercises.
Anyway I really want to make this work.

iT REALLY
It really sux when we have to compenstate for calories we get as the result of taking medication! -
I don't count meds. They'll be force feeding me something mixed with juice in a bit for my CT and I'm not writing it and they can't make me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ditto on the chocolate calcium chews!
-
KeriLynn - How did your trip to Texas go?
-
I'm still here! I was poked and prodded and abused today (had to have a rectal contrast for the pelvic CT - yuck!) and go back tomorrow at 2 for results (at least I hope they have them!) If we get to Ft. Worth at a reasonable time, I'll post the results.
Went to Olive Garden tonight and then shopping but couldn't find anything I had to have - DH did better! Dieting while out of town is a little more of a challenge! We did go to Target between tests to get some baby carrots so I can have something crunchy. My only exercise has been walking around the hospital and shopping - there's a bike in the exercise room here and I may get on that tomorrow - earn more points! -
It's hard to diet at the Olive Garden. I don't remember seeing WW items on their menu, although I haven't been in awhile. Applebees is better for that sort of thing.
I hope you took some to your hotel for breakfast or a snack.
I think I could do without the rectal contrast! -
Karilynn,
I have been thinking about you and praying!!!
Hope to hear only good stuff!!
God Bless -
Yum-my birthday is coming up and my family is going to Olive Garden. I usually get the salmon, but pig out on the salad-can't wait! Unfortunately, for my birthday, I will go out about 4 times with various people-my scale will probably break.
Denise -
Rose - they have "Garden Fare" on their menu - I had Chicken Giardino (?) which was something like 12 points. Since I only had that and breakfast (no food after 9:30 and at the hospital until after 3) I had the points to spend.
Calico, I really appreciate the prayers and hope I'll have good news soon. I hate to jinx it, but I really feel great so am very hopeful.
Kari
Just had to lay off the breadsticks and ask for the low-fat dressing. -
KariLynn - it sounds like you're getting the WW strategy down pretty good. That's the way to do it!
-

Hi Patti - all test results were good! YEAH!
I used EIGHT of my allowance points today celebrating - figured I deserved a Pepsi and a strawberry daiquiri! Oh well, I had almost all of them left (my new week starts on Monday) I did make it to the exercise room and rode the bike for about 40 minutes this morning so that's something... -
I am still trying to do just calorie thing and the exercise but it is hard. I can't afford to do the WW thing right now but it would be so much easier. I wish I just had the point thing , figurer outer and that would surely help.
maybe I will try to cost out joining online and seeing if I can swing it tht way. MAybe I should consider the WW at home version too.
I haven't been great about exercise Thursday or friday because on Friday I ended up in ER with a cellutis infection which we caught ver early YEA!! so I didn't swell too much. I was driving home from an errand and felt some thing warm and sore under my left arm. By the time I looked it was definitely there. I called the DOC and they said to go haave it looked at it. I am certainly glad I did.
Guess i just have to remember I can't fix all these things by myself. When I think about it, the timing made sense i was day 7 after chemo, evn taking Neulasta my wbc would be at the lowest then. But I am on the way to recovery once again, and getting very excited about leaving for Ananheim on Wednesday AM.
My goal on this trip is to maintain the weight I have already lost during the 5 days there.
Kathy -
Kathy, have fun on your trip! It was 69 for the first three months (joined on line - that included the start-up fee and the monthly fees.) I think it's 16 something a month after that.
I LOVE IT. The on-line points tracker is great and easy to use. You enter your weight once a week and they cheer you on. I'm figuring I'll recoup the money by spending less on clothes (fat-girl stores are more expensive!!!)
If you want to pm me to ask about the program, feel free (or to look up a point value for you - sometimes it's just nice to know that.) Easy tip - avoid fast food like the plague! All of those point values are high except for salads. Subway and Mr. Goodcents are ok.
The program works for me because it makes me be conscious of everything I eat (since I put it in the pc.) You can be just as effective tracking what you eat on your own I imagine, I was just too laxy to do it before - now that I'm giving them $$ I'm more motivated! -
From what I can tell having to pay a bit does help people be committed.
I have a friend at church who lost a lot of weight on WW, and said it all worked out to about $400. She could have easily spent more on Jenny Craig or the other diet plans, but this worked for her, and I guess eventually you're a life member?
Kathy - are you still doing chemo? -
Rose- Yes I am still doing chemo. They said I work on weight as long as I kept it to one or to pounds a week. That is waht I have been doing.
The last couple of days I have not exercised since developing the Cellutis infection which BTW is now totally under control with the antibiotic and the swelling, redness and soreness, have definitely receded. But this stupid cold & cough that I have had since before my last chemo is what is doing me in right now. I am spending the rest of the weekend doing nothing but relaxing and packing for my trip. Last minute errands on Monday & Tuesday and fly off to Anaheim bright and early Wednesday AM.
Kathy -
Chemo is probably a hard time to lose weight, but you seem to be on the right track trying to keep some exercise in, and not gaining too much.
Probably cartons of Ben&Jerry's aren't a great idea, even during chemo.
California should be a nice break. I'm going to Florida next weekend. -
Kathy...well if you are at Disneyland you will be doing ALOT of walking!
-
I am going to a teaching conference NSTA, but one evening I will go to Disneyland.
Kathy -
I hope you get
over your cold soon Kathy
Have a safe trip
relax and take in the sun
We will miss
and we will be waiting to
hear all about Disney
when you come home
Healing thoughts
and vibes coming your way
xoxo
Patti -
Thanks Patty. I am bringing a laptop so I am hoping to be in communication one a day while I am out there. We will see how that works.
The mucinex seems to be working better than the other stuff so that is what I am using now.
My infection is much better but I do have a question, for the docs Monday AM. After 3 days of full dosage should should I still have a on-again-off -again low grade 99 degree fever. Don't want to rock the boat too much because I want NOTHING to interfere with my trip.
They do keep telling me not to worry about anything less than 101.4 so maybe I should just let this little niggle go or should I be on bit stronger AB for this infection? So many questions
Kathy -
Hi Kathy
I had a
bout with cellulites
right after my first
treatment..It affected my leg
The onc put
me on Keflex
and I continued
to run a low grade fever
until they changed my course
of antibiotic...Maybe you need something else?
I would give him
a jingle on Monday am
just to be safe
and to put your mind at ease....
You are going on your trip
that is my mantra for you
On my way out
for my morning walk
and then off to prepare
my flower beds....Hope to burn lots of calories
in the garden today
xoxo
Patti -
Thanks Patty !I think that is what is I am on too or some variation of Cephalin. I will call bright and early in the AM so I can take care of all these last minute niggles.
Kathy -
189!!! Yipee!
I'm thrilled with that number - especially since I ate away from home for 14 meals last week (counted it up last night so I wouldn't feel bad if the number was bad!) Makes all of the salads worth it!
That gives me four more pounds to drop to lose another BMI point! Am at 28 now - working toward under 25 so I can get out of the "overweight" group (am 5'9")
Hope everyone else does well this week!!!!
Kari -
Well I didn't get to Monday because of my horrible cough and sudden spike of a fever. Went ot the ER , only to discover that my fever had nothing to do with my cellutis but everything to do with the viral upper respiratory thing I have had for a couple of weeks. It is so hard this stuff. I could have had a much better day yesterday if I knew I could take Tylenol or something for a fever. I guess they don't want me making any unguided decisions. So anyway, fever has broke. Feel much better today. Will spend the day packing and resting.
Kathy -
Kari I am so happy
for you! Way to go!!
I am stuck
have not lost
or gained...I have been walking
my butt off too!
WE will see
what the scale
has to say on Thursday
I started some yard
clean up
so I think this
will help too!
Kathy I am so sorry
glad you fever broke thou
Take it slow packing things up
just think
sun and fun
that is just
what the doctor ordered
xoxo
Patti -
Patti, if the butt's coming off, who cares what the scale says! Good job on the walking - that's only going to help.
Kathy, glad you feel better and enjoy your trip! -
Yeah Kari - you broke the 190 mark. I wish I were 5'9".
-
I know Rose! Me too..
xoxo
Patti -
A little damp
here 40 degrees
raining on and off
Waiting for a break
so that I can walk
between the raindrops..
if not down stairs to ride the bike
and work out on the gazelle
Feeling hungry today
Do you think it is me
or the weather?
I better get busy
maybe some more water will help
xoxo
Patti
