Dear Blueyez!!!! I did not see your post until now. Thank you so much for your well wishes. We do not know yet, Liz will have another ultrasound in April and she was told she could find out then. My son wants it to be a surprise, I think he secretly wants a girl!!!! Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers this weekend. Please check in if you can!!! I know it is hard to sleep with so much on your mind!!!!! That is so wonderful that your mom will be with you to help. Please rest as much as you can. Kathy

Wow everyone is so busy. Surgery, grandbabies, new jobs, job interviews, weight loss and exercise and crazy dogs. I have a 10 year old dog with a heart condition and a bad back. She's my little pal.
I haven't exercised this week. Stomach virus followed by a colonoscopy. I did lose weight tho ! Somewhere I read that we should think of exercise as medicine. You don't miss your daily dose of medecine so don't miss your daily dose of exercise. I'm gonna try to motivate myself that way.
-
Just stopping by to say hello this evening-------thank you everyone for the prayers, very much appreciated. It was a lovely day for a walk---only needed a light jacket and no gloves or scarf today.
JFV---sounds like you had a rough week. Hope from today on it gets better. Keep pressing on with the exercise, it is good medicine for our bodies and spirits. Thats a good way to think of it.
Blueyez--- sounds like you have got a lot on the table right now and thats not even counting your upcoming surgery. Sometimes life can get so overwhelming-----I hope that you will get a better nights sleep tonight. Still keeping you in my prayers and you too, tenaj. May all go well with both of your surgeries.
kindergarten-------have a nice evening-----thanks for thinking of me------I better get to bed, gotta get up early tomorrow. G'night all!
-
Dear JFV, you certainly had a rough week, take this weekend and rest. A good walk is great medicine. Hubby and I walked all day at Universal Studios, even did those steep stairs that take from the upper to lower level, back and forth, I am even making my hubby obsessed with exercising!!!!! Keep us posted, Jaytee and Blueyez. Love, Kathy
-
Thinking of you today Jaytee.... Hope all went well with the scans. Take some deep breaths & relax, enjoy your weekend. :-)
-
Hi tenaj--------the day started out on a really good note-------the IV went in on the first stick!! That is always a plus. The last couple times I have been there, it has taken 3 sticks to get it in-----youch! I got the 2 cups of 'lemonade' down---got the cat scans done. Got to leave and get something to eat. It was only 9am so I decided to go to McDonalds. On the way there I was talking myself into getting the big breakfast with the eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and biscuits-------but you know, I wanted to be able to tell you guys that I made a healthy choice so I ended up getting the oatmeal-----and you know what it was really good. I wouldnt usually ever order oatmeal in a restaurant. This one had pieces of fresh apple in it and walnuts to sprinkle on top. Something is definitely changing in my thought process----for the better! Went back and got the bone scan----the tech asked me what my last one had been like and I told her it had looked good and she hinted that this one looked good too. I know that you don't know until you talk to the Doc, but I left there feeling pretty good.
Had to go by the track on the way home so I was able to get my walk in. The timing was good for that because it has gotten windier and windier here all day. Its been sleeting off and on and is supposed to snow later.
I dedided that I am not going to sit and worry about these results. Just going to keep doing what I have been doing. On Wed I will see my Onc and that will come soon enough. Goodness, I have done an awful lot of worrying in my lifetime and it hasn't really helped at all. If worrying was an Olympic sport, I would have a room full of gold medals!!
Thanks so much for the thoughts, prayers and support!!
-
Dear Jaytee, I am sure that you are so glad that your scans are done, I remember those days. When the tech says it looked good, that is what it is. Congrats!!!!!!! You are wonderful that you picked the oatmeal, I am such a cheater!!! I have had the oatmeal, it is good. The thoughts, prayers and support always work. Have a carefree and worryfree weekend. You done good. Kathy
-
Well done Jaytee, glad it went well. You did great with making a healthy food choice. My stress would have caused me to indulge like it usually does, your an inspiration. Walking in the sleet? WOW!! Now relax and enjoy your weekend. I did the treadmill again 3.5 miles and lots of calories, but broke down and made hubby oatmeal raisin cookies. He's been asking for them, couldn't resist. Also got good news from the onc office today. My first bloodwork check up since my inital consult in the summer. Everything is in normal range!! Yipee!!
-
tenaj--------love to hear good news especially from the oncs office----celebrating with you!!! Good job on the treadmill. Gotta have a cookie every now and then-----and oatmeal is healthier than choc chip----right! I actually got my walk in before the sleet started, was lucky. It was windy though, on one end of the track when I went around the curve I could feel the wind pushing me along.
Hi Kindergarten---remember when the thread first started and CLC talked about how she had lost 50 lbs in a year. She wrote about what she ate and she said that she eats oatmeal for breakfast everyday, I have been basically trying to do that and it seems to be a good start to my day. I dont have to think about what I am going to eat, and it seems to hold me until lunch. The late afternoon is the temptation time for me. *I really did want those hashbrowns though
Have a great weekend too and that goes for everyone!
-
Dear TENAJ, that is such great news. What a wonderful way to start the weekend!!!!! JAYTEE you are so right about oatmeal, I HEAR that over and over. I also eat a oat bran toast sometimes with peanut butter. I also have the late afternoon munchies. Lent is helping me take control a bit. I have given up sweets, any diet soda and chips of any kind. Please have a great weekend, everyone!!!! Kathy
-
Hello All! Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. Slow Saturday here at my house. Two basketball games today, my sons team won so i think they made the playoffs so that's exciting. Did some shopping, no exercising, but doing pretty good with eating. Still trying to lose 6 more lbs at least but its so hard. ugh. why does food taste so good??? lol! oatmeal cookies is about the only way i like oatmeal. wish i could eat it hot for breakfast, but i am not a fan. i love oatmeal cookies. i usually do oatmeal chocolate chip with craisins. i soak the craisins for an hour or so in balsamic vinegar and honey then add them to the batter. it gives them such a delicious taste. no wonder it's so hard for me to lose weight! lol!
jaytee, so glad everything went well with your scans! and tenaj awesome news from the Onc! always so happy when its good news.
Kathy, girls are so fun to buy baby clothes for! they have the most adorable outfits. But boys are awesome in their own way. I have one of each and am glad for both! i m so bad with surprises i had to find out. such a joyful time
Have a great Saturday! tracy
-
Blueyez, thanks for the baking tip & I do agree on oatmeal for cookies:-)! Congratulations on your boys basketball games. I hope your enjoying your weekend... I'll be thinking of you on Monday!! Rest up.
-
Blueyez, your oatmeal cookies sound so yummy, recipe please!!! I will be thinking of you on Monday!!!Please check in when you can!!!!!!! I am sure everything will be great!Prayers are coming your way!!!!!Kathy

Hi everyone-----lovely day in Ohio today. Sunny and blue skies. Was nice for walking. DD came with me and it was a nice time to talk and walk together. Got to catch up every once in awhile about whats going on in teenager world.
Its been about a month since this thread started------really just a short time----but I feel like I am going to really stick with some of these good changes. Imagine everyone what we will feel like after 2--then 3 and more months down the road. I see now that I used to give up so easily.
Wishing everybody well for the coming week-----my best to you all!
-
Thanks everyone for the well wishes! I'm a little nervous about tomorrow, but glad to be getting it over with.
I love to cook, but am not exactly a great baker, so I cheat whenever I can. I use the Betty Crocker cookie pouches and just add my own homemade touch. The craisins taste awesome in the Betty Crocker Chocolate Chocolate Chunk cookies as well as the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip.
Sounds like a great afternoon Jaytee. My daughter is only 10 but I love to spend time with her whenever I can. Figure not too many more years where she'll want to hang out with me.
Have a great night everyone and I'll try to check in as soon as I'm up to it! Thanks again for thinking of me everyone! tracy
-
Hi Blueyez
Do you like to eat the craisins right out of the bag too-----I do! I have made a soft cookie with orange zest and craisins and that is delicious too. Does your daughter like to bake with you? Mine has always liked to help in the kitchen and now she is always making cookies or something for her friend's birthdays. At Christmas, we are up to our elbows in flour and sugar as we are both baking cookies to give away as gifts! Its messy but its fun and is something we have in common. I kinda miss when she was around the age of your daughter though------just didnt want her to grow up too fast.
Take care tracy----many prayers and a hug for you too! judy
-
Okay, you two wonderful bakers, you are making me so hungry. I heard such great news in church, today!!! Sunday is a free day, so if you gave up anything for Lent, you may cheat on Sunday. He,he,he!!!!!!!! Jaytee, we used to live in Pittsburgh, and we heard lots of snow from there on down 80 west. I am so glad to hear that you had great weather today. Again, Tracy, big hugs are coming your way. Just came back from a long bike ride, almost 2 hours, you all are such a wonderful influence on me. Have a great week, Kathy
-
Gotta chime in about daughters.... Mine will be 23 next week. Where did the time go? She's a very special young lady. I always baked with her. I have a great pic of her about 2 yrs old licking the beaters while sitting on the counter. I never said anything even when she would be making a mess, I just wanted her to like to bake & cook. Now she's a better baker than me & getting quite good at cooking too!! Sorry for going on & on.... She is so special to me. She took such good care of me after my surgeries last year. I'm so sorry I had to put her through that. Anyway.... Daughters (&sons) are very special, cherish every moment with them.
Look forward to hearing from you, blueyez, real soon.... Healing thought & prayers coming your way!! -
Hi Kindergarten and tenaj---just stopping by to say hi---cant stay long, daughter needs computer for homework. Will tell husband about Sunday being a free day--
--he decided to give up sweets for Lent, so no more doughnuts in the house---yay! tenaj, your daughter sounds like a gem. You are so right about cherishing every moment. See ya later----judy

whoo hoo Braca Negative------ whoo hooo- I also saw my BS he recomended I see GYN and consider having ovaries out when I have my foobs fixed in May. Something to consider. Decrease risk,
I also stopped at the YMCA signed up packed bag to be and ready to go before work tomorrow-
Wednesday I am going to try Zomba it may do me in but what the heck I can laugh at myself .
Ladies I hope everyone is having a good week and thanks for all the support !
-
Kburdic thanks for sharing the great news, congratulations!!!! Keep up the good work on staying fit.
Thinking about you blueyez and hope your feeling good & resting. :-) ((((((healing hugs)))))))
I didn't get to excercise today....tomorrow is another day, perhaps when I get home for work.( I have to be there at 7am-so there's no way I'm excercising first)
Hope everyone else is enjoying their day. Keep drinking lots of water!! -
Kburdic, that is wonderful about the Braca news. I had a total hysterectomy a year after treatment was done, and it was not bad at all. I actually went home the next day after surgery and I drove in 3 weeks. That was in 2005, so I am sure they have new techniques now. Blueyez, Hope you are doing fine. Went to the gym today and walked. Tenaj, I am drinking lots of water, thanks hon!!!! We are going out of town for a couple of days, I will try to get on laptop when I can. I am addicted to this thread. Love it. Have a good night Jaytee and everyone!!!!!!!!
-
Hey kburdic, would like to say congrats on the great news too! Have fun at the Zumba class and tell me all about it----I think it looks like so much fun when I have seen the ad for it on tv. You are taking charge and you are going to do it!
Walked 3 miles today----it really felt good cause it was even a little bit warmer today than yesterday. Going to go into work for a little bit tomorrow----havent been there since Christmas, it will be good to get back into the swing of things. Will have to walk a little earlier than I have been doing---maybe just the neighborhood route. Will save a little gas that way too-----holy moly, the gas shot up almost 40 cents a gal overnight. I knew I needed some, but took the chance----
Watched a video on youtube today----the link for it is on the thread called 'The Rollercoaster Song'. Its a powerful video and song about what its like to deal with bc. It really tore at the heartstrings---if you watch it, be sure to have some tissues handy.
Kindergarten-----have a good trip----see you when you get back!
tenaj---you have got an early day tomorrow-------have a good one! My schedule is soon going to be much busier and I am going to have to figure out how to work in the exercise. Also to remember to drink the water----I can get so busy at work and not drink anything for hours. Will really work on that this spring.
Goodnight everyone!
-
Hello everyone! Had my surgery yesterday and everything went great. Feeling a little tired but the pain is definitely so much easier than the last two surgeries. Thanks again for all the well wishes from everyone!
Kburic, so glad for your results! Did you have the Oncotype DX test? I'd really recommend it. My Onc wanted me to do chemo after my DMX and I wasn't thrilled with the idea, so recommended that Oncotype DX test and my numbers came back good so I didn't have to do chemo. Not sure where your at in the whole process. But sending prayers and well wishes your way! I've been debating about removing my ovary too, ( I only have one left due to an ectopic pregnancy long ago). My Onc said he wouldn't recommend it but to talk to my OB/GYN. So i'm still on the fence. Kathy, did your Onc or OB/GYN recommend the hysterectomy? I think in some ways it makes totaly sense. Removing the estrogen producing organs would seem right on line with trying to stop a reoccurence. do you take tamoxifen or anyting like that once you had your hysterectomy?
Kathy and tenaj, your daughters sound wonderful! I am so close with my daughter and I'm glad hear that you guys are still close with yours. I always worry about the upcoming teenage years and hope we stay as close as we are now.
Kathy, yes both my kids love to be in the kitchen with me. My son just made a nice banana bread last night. I love to cook myself so its always great to have extra help in the kitchen.
So great on all the working out Ladies!! Can't wait til I get the all clear from my PS and I can start walking and exercising again. So inspirational to hear you guys out there kickin butt!
Has anyone here at a complete DMX and have to do a nipple reconstruction?? Just wondering about other peoples experience and results.
Talk soon! tracy
sorry edited for misspelling.
-
Blueyez---------so glad to hear that your surgery went well!!! Take it easy and you'll be out there walking before you know it. Have a good and restful day today.
The teenage years can be tumultuous ....hope I spelled that right..............I have found that there is a lot of drama, but you kind of develop a thick skin. For my daughter, getting involved in school activities has been the best thing for her. Her worst time was when she entered jr high---she had to find somewhere to fit in. I am very thankful that she found a really good group of friends.
Take care today-----hugs, judy
-
Hi, everyone, leaving for a couple of days, but I am bringing my I-pad, hubby is so understanding, he,he,he!!!! BLUEYEZ, Great news again that your surgery went well!!!!!!! yes my onc did recommend a total hysterectomy. I was seeing a cancer gynecologist at the time of diagnosis, because I had cervical dysplasia when I was younger. They both recommended the surgery to prevent any recurrence in the ovaries. I was 52 at the time and in total menopause. I am 59 now and doing great. It was a relatively easy surgery for me and she had to open me up abdominally. I was not a candiate for the laproscopic procedure. I love to have my daughter-in-laws, my sons are great, but I need shopping buddies!!! Hugs for you all, Kathy
-
Hi ladies, just checking in to say "hi"....had a busy day at work but did come home & do the treadmill, could have done better with water but I'm not picking in between!!!
Kindergarten we all need shopping buddies, I love to shop with my daughter, not as much fun by myself. I miss her so much.
Blueyez I hope you rested well today & are feeling good.
Jaytee, how old is you daughter? Your right it is so important on who their friends are!
Kburdic, are you sore from Zumba? I'd like to try that. I've heard many say they like it.
JFV hope your enjoying this warmer than usual weather.
Have a nice night everyone... -
Hi tenaj---------great that you hit the treadmill after work! Did it help get rid of all the tensions from a long day at work? I did have to remind myself at work yesterday to go get drinks of water. I would be better to just keep a bottle of water with me. Do you all try to avoid plastic bottles? Been reading some of the threads about that---some people dont even want to keep leftovers in tupperware and plastic containers anymore. I love my tupperware!'
My daughter is a senior in high school this year. Can't believe she is going to graduate. She is my baby---there was several years between her and her brother. She was also a miracle baby to me----she had to be delivered c-section. I remember laying there and hearing the doctor calling the others in the room over and saying-----would you look at that-----not what you really want to hear when you've just given birth. They told me she had a true knot in the umbilical cord-----it had stayed loose and not tightened. So thankful that she was okay. We have our days, but I am very proud of her and the young lady she is becoming.
Its really storming this morning---sounds like its going to be a messy day. Will have to exercise in the house today.
Have a wonderful day today!
-
Good morning all!!! We are in Vegas and it is freezing!!! We took a short walk outside , but walked alot yesterday. We came here to see Celine Dion, but she had to cancel because of a throat infection, poor thing!! They refunded our money. We saw David Copperfield last night. He is truly amazing!!!! JAYTEE, your daughter sounds wonderful and truly a miracle! Enjoy her senior year together, when they go away to college, you miss them so much, but so appreciate the time together when they come home .Have a wonderful day!
-
Kindergarten, we saw David Copperfield also, my daughter was about 10 yo, & so in love with him. He did a trick right next to her!!! She was so dissappointed that he didn't notice her. Great show & she's finally over it...lol enjoy your time in Vegas!!
Jaytee, what a special year for you all. Enjoy every minute. I miss them so much, the empty nest has a bit of getting use to. How has the college search been going?
I still use my Tupperware but never microwave in anything plastic anymore. I bought some nice Pyrex storage containers that I switched over to.
No excercise today.....I went to 3 doctors today, one unplanned. I developed redness over my left implant yesterday & called this morning. They saw me right away, marked the area & gave me antibiotics. If it spreads at all or doesn't go away they want to put me in the hospital for IV antibiotics.
I can't believe this!!!! I've been doing so well, I hope this is minor. I've been looking forward to my new job & finally at the point to take care of myself with a good exercise regime. I could use some prayers & positive thoughts :-)
