Diana, I was just reading your post regarding tumor markers and noticed in your profile that today is your 10th anniversary and wanted to give you a big "WAY TO GO" and a huge congratulations!!! What a great day for you and yor loved ones.

Out of curiosity, if you were on AI's, which one did you take and for how long? And any other secrets to your success that you would like to share would be greatly appreciated!

But most of all I just wanted to congratulate you on yor continued health. Here's to many, many more.

Cyndi

thanks sisters*  yeah, today is the big day.  hard to imagine i was a mere 49 when diagnosed and now i am 59. lol  have had some good living in those 10 years and i continue to totally LOVE life; my peeps....friends....BC sisters....i actually feel very blessed and grateful.

    Cindi

i was on arimidex for all most 6 years. when i would complain about the SE's to my onc she would say.."yeah, but it keeps you around"  i feel like i have done everything i can do to beat cancer; and so far so good.  the one thing i do that i really believe in is hard exercise.  i cycle every day (1 and half hours)..130 miles a week) and i also walk 45 minutes a day at a fast pace.  i really do try to eat good; i do drink wine....(yes, i do)  i pray every day and thank God for my blessings. i have found that my attitude towards cancer has changed over the years; i am not scared anymore....(i was the first few years.....very very scared) and then i started to realize that all i can do is live my life; enjoy each day; be grateful for my life....and go on.  i have decided that if i happen to relapse in some form or another; i will fight the disease and do what i can to be in life. i am really comfortable in understanding that if my cancer returns...and i know for sure via biospy..i will just deal with it then.  the key is THEN.  seems to work for me as far as my attitude towards cancer. but, it has taken me 6-10  years to get to this comfortable place where i am not beating the door down at my oncs office. lol

anyway, thank you all.  i love you *  just hang in there ; even on the hard days.

As a stage IIIc hormone-positive IDC girl myself, I want to thank you for continuing to post here. Most of the long-term survivors on the "5 years and out" thread seem to be either ILC or hormone negative. Your continued presence here is a generous gift to us newbies and very much appreciated. Congratulations!!

Do you have any arthritis in your knees? What exercise would you do if you did?

And did your doctor ever suggest a course of Tamoxifen after you finished Aridimex? I've been wondering if anybody is doing that.

Congrats Diana50! On 10 years! It must feel good. I was sitting here feeling a little scared sad ect..as I finished my last round of chemo this week. Reading your posts and seeing your profile pic looking so healthy has always inspired me. Wanted to say thankyou for sticking around and providing support to people who have just begun this journey. Many many more years of health happiness and wonderful memories for you.

Diana-- Congratulations on 10 and here's to another 10+10+10+10.  I second and third what the others said.  Thanks for sticking around and being here for all of us.  I was dx in 2010 with 4.5 cm IDC grade 3, er/pr+, brca2+ and 7+ nodes.  You are my anchor. When I don't feel like working out -- I think of you.  God Bless.

    Hi Diana......

Major, major congrats on this milestone.  You have me beat with the cycling, but I second hard exercise.  I just got out of a hot tub after finishing the Chilly Hilly.  It was both and kicked my hibernating hide back into action for the cycling season ahead.

My butt muscles are already complaining, but I feel wonderful.  I stopped by at the wine bar on the way home, so yes, I also enjoy my wine.

I made the decision that I was going to assume I was cured and concentrate on living my life.

Anyway, I raise my glass to you, and to the next ten glorious years. Congrats again, and don't you dare tell us that you didn't open a bottle of something wonderful today. - Claire

Congratulations on this incredible milestone.  I am wondering, did you exercise this much before diagnosis, or was this something you started afterwords to reduce your changes of recurrence or because you just wanted to be healthier.  I am currently exercising every other day.  I'm not sure if this is enough.  But when I am doing it, I envision tiny cells being eradicated from the heat exercise causes..and I feel it puts my mind in a better place. But I think I need to do more. I have to be honest, I hate it.  But still I know it needs to be done. I don't know what I would need to do to get myself out as much as you are getting out but I do agree, it is very helpful. Thanks for inspiring..

Yay, Diana!  Thanks for being an ongoing poster here. It gives the newbies hope. That's my plan, too—so the newbies don't all worry ("Why aren't there any longterm survivors posting?"). We know they're out living their lives!
