Mom Passed Away
My dear mother passed away peacefully at home yesterday. She only survived a year due to a rare and extremely aggressive breast cancer. On March 10, she was told that she was ready for hospice (which I posted on this thread then.) She was starting to get blurred vision and a weakening voice. My brothers, sister and our spouses and kids all spent time with her that first week (she and my stepdad live 5 hours away.) The only good thing that came out of this wretched disease is that we all got to say goodbye, thank you and I love you.
Thanks to all of you who answered my questions and gave me such great support during the past months. This site has been my rock!
The hospice staff was fantastic and the end of life books were so helpful. I know I still have a lot of grieving, and I plan to join a bereavement support group. Plus I know my kids, husband and the rest of life will keep me busy. Still, I cannot believe I must go on without my mom.
God Bless All of You!
Lynne

Lynne,
I am so sorry for your loss, a poem for you ~
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now in peace forever,
Safely home in heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

lynn,
Losing your mom will hurt no one knows the pain but those who have been through it, but grieve with a blessed assurance that one day you will see your mom again if you stay grounded in the word of God and continue to seek his face daily. -

Thanks to all of you wonderful ladies for your beautiful words of condolence. It has been three weeks since Mom died, but it feels longer. I have been reading some grief books, and that helps.
I will continue to check in and help others and encourage them in any way I am able.
Hope to meet some of you later this year at the Race for the Cure in Cleveland.
Love,
Lynne -
I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that you were there for her. I was with my dad when he died almost 2 years go. He suffered for many months. I felt it was a great gift that my children, husband, and mom were able to say good-bye and we were with him during his final hours.
Carrie - that was a beautiful poem - I just had a good cry.
Lynne, please know that you and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Lynne,
This is my first time on this wonderful site. My sincere condolonces to you and your family. My Mom passed away last week after a 10 year battle with breast cancer. I feel lost. I went to this board because she found so much hope and comfort from the many friends she made here. I wish you and your family continued comfort and never ending hope.
Sincerely,
Jennifer -
Hi Lynne, I am sorry to hear about your mother. My mother died 27 years ago and it was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. But I truly believe that she watches out for me now.
Catherine -
My heart hurts for you as my mom is halfway through rads for bc. Her prognosis is very good, but I will always have a lingering fear that it will come back and will take her from me. I too am very close to my mom and cannot imagine a life where she is not in it. My prayers are with you.

Hi Lynne,
I know how you feel, I lost my sweet father to a massive heart attack and it just crushed my heart so bad and I totally feel for you....the thing we can do is know that our parent is in heaven with God, Jesus and a family of other loved ones that are all God's angels smiling down on us and praying for us. God bless you and yours. -
Lynne,

God bless you,
Mommy of 3
I will also pray for strength for you in providing for your children.
