I got my Flexitouch this week!
I've been playing around with it, but the official Flexitouch person is coming to my home tomorrow to make sure I have everything set up correctly. Someone here had the great idea of putting an ink mark by the location where the velcro tabs go to make sure you're fitting them consistently - I thought that was a great idea. Someone else had the idea of putting it on when you go to bed - I've tried that a few nights and it's worked for me. It basically rocks me to sleep, and I wake up sometime after it's done and just take it off. I've had no trouble getting back to sleep.
Sorry I can't remember who posted those ideas, but both are wonderful. Any other ideas for things I can ask the official Flexitouch person tomorrow while she's making sure I'm fitting it properly?

Mary, use it in good health!
If you find the vest part is a bit loose across the shoulder, ask for complimentary velcro tabs that can be attached across the shoulder to tighten things up.
Note: when putting it on you can put on the leg section and then turn on the machine -- it works the groin area while you finish putting on the rest and climbing (lumbering?
) into bed. I didn't know that at first, but I like it because then I don't have to fumble around trying to turn it on when I'm all settled.
Also, hopefully your therapist gave you a node clearing routine to use before using the pump, yes? The Flexi folks can only refer you to your therapist on that issue, but it's important to take the few minutes to do it before each treatment.
Ask everything you can think of, and get her contact information. Also the contact info for your area rep. I've found them very helpful, but the area rep generally knows more than the fitting person, so when in doubt you'll have two people to contact.
No short-cuts! Make sure the fitting person stays with you long enough to assess the fit throughout the routine. There are things a trained eye and an extra pair of hands can help with that you just can't see or do for yourself.
Do let us know how it goes!

Used duct tape, it worked

Is this available in Canada?
Edit to add~ we have duct tape.......wondered about the flexitouch
-
Sharon - LOL on the duct tape - I was getting ready to smuggle duct tape across the border to Canada to help you out!!
I'll ask the fitter tomorrow about Canada - their HQ is in Minnesota, and that's practically in Canada, isn't it?

I just want to say that peeking into this discussion, it's obvious why we revere each other so much! A place to ask mighty specific questions, rock-solid advice in response, and some humor that's actually quite touching. Glad to know you, ladies...even though I don't need a flexi-touch at this point in my LE life.
