complementary supplements with chemo/herceptin

I finished up my TCH course of treatment in April of 2008 before there were any reports about the Longo USC studies about fasting.  If I were to undergo chemo again, I would try fasting - 3 days before and 1 day after - or whatever I could tolerate to help make those cancer cells more vulnerable to the T&C part of the chemo.  I would also try pawpaw to increase the vulnerability of those cancercells to the chemo zap - see, e.g., http://www.mnwelldir.org/docs/cancer1/pawpaw.htm and http://cancer.about0.com/how-to-decrease-side-effects-of-chemotherapy-and-prevent-cancer-cells-develop-resistance-to-chemotherapy.html and http://www.pawpawresearch.com/pawpawworks.htm

Like twinmom77, I took lots of supplements including sublingual b-12&b-6 etc.  My oncologist had no objection.  Well before my bc diagnosis I was taking L-carnitine 500 mg. with 200 mg. alpha lipoic acid and continued that.  I think that helped me avoid chemo brain.  While Stage IV from initial diagnosis, I am still NED thankfully and in my 4th year post diagnosis inching toward that magic 5-year mark.
