My mom was diagnosed with Triple Negative Inflammatory Breast Cancer on 1/16/12.  She began chemo on 1/20/12.  Her CT scan came back clear.  We are still waiting on the bone scan.  Is it common for the bone scan to be clear if the CT scan is clear?

Also, they said that her adrenal glands were inflammed but that it was "extremely unlikely" that it was cancer. Has anyone had mets to adrenal glads before?

Thanks for your support. I am still learning.  I am afraid, but I need to know what to expect so that I can be strong for my mom.  She lost my dad is July 2012 after a long battle with COPD.

Take care, Ginny

Glad her doctor is running more than one scan to check status.  I had bone, pet & MRI.  All showed diagosis.  Some tests will show more than another.  Best Wishes to your Mom.

Hi Ginny:  I'm, sorry that your mum has this nasty disease.  Also I'm sorry to hear that you lost your Dad last summer, it is all very difficult for you to be strong for your mum but you are a very caring daughter.  It's not easy I know when your mum has this diagnosis.  Take heart that many women live a long and full life after treatments but it is not an easy time going through treatment with all the nasty side effects.

My bone scan came out clear but the CT scan showed bone mets.  I think the CT scan supersedes the other, so all should be well with your mum.  Good luck and stay in touch. The women on this Board are a great support and don't hesitate to ask any questions,, we will try to help.

What a great daughter you are to be at your mom's side. Any chance you can tell me what regiment your mom was on? My girlfriend is tn stage 4 and taxol didn't work so moved on to AC. I'm just curious what chemo helped her? I'm really scared for my friend.

Thanks and I wish the best for your mom!

The CT scan cannot pick up small bone mets like the bone scan can.

IBC usually travels in the nodal system, so it is likely to come back ok. The CT would have picked up nodes. Did they see any nodes on her CT?

I have nodes all over the place and my adrenals are not affected. If they said not likely, then that's what I would go with.

Sorry your mother and you have to go through this and I am glad she has you to help her. Keep posting and we will help you. There are a few daughters here getting advise.

It sounds like she is in good hands as fast as they started the chemo. Is she on the Taxotere/Carboplatin?
