Not a great 1st onc checkup!
I'm quietly freaking out but trying to play it cool in front of DH and children.
Today I had my first onc check up. 19 weeks PFC and 11 months after original diagnosis.
11 months ago I had a MX of my right breast and post surgery pathology determined Stage 3C, with 12 nodes involved.
Today, whilst being examined, my onc examined my remaining left breast. He keep probing the same spot. I asked if there was a lump and he confirmed this. I'm now off for a mammo, ultra sound and MRI. I am quietly freaking out and hoping this won't be a repeat of last year. 2011 consisted of MX, 16 chemo treatments and 25 rads.
Thanks for listening.

Kiwi, we were diagnosed about the same time! I am just finally starting rads. I am so sorry you are going through this, but it really could be anything (benign!) and really hoping it is not a repeat for you. You have been through enough already, it's time for a break!
-
Kiwimum, that is very worrying. You have been through so much treatment and I assume you are now on a hormonal drug. I hope that you don't have to wait long for a diagnosis and that it's a false alarm.
I will say a prayer for you. -
Kiwi, After the kids go to bed go ahead and freak out with your DH. That is a lot to deal with. That's a lot of chemo treatments.
I will also say a prayer for you.
-
Thank you for your prayers and kind thoughts. I've woken up feeling calm. I plan to call the breast clinic early this morning to get an appointment.
It's a blessing to have this site and you ladies to "understand". -
KiwiMum,
Good luck with your appt. I know what apprehension you feel. The same thing happened to me in December. My Onc kept going over and over the same spot. I could even feel the weird thing. Mine turned out to be fibroglandular. I had a cyst aspirated in the same spot last year. The radiologist said I was fine but to keep a "feel" on it and come back if it starts to feel different.
-
KiwiMum hope its just a benign lump.
-
Fingers and everything else crossed that you get an appt fast and that your results come back benign. ((((Hugs)))) Angelfalls xx
-
I was shaking when I was first dx and my family doc called me in some ativan which I have found very helpful.
-
I have everything crossed.
Xx -
I'm off for my appointment in a couple of hours. Mixed emotions ...
I hope to be reporting back that all is good later today!! -
They are so super careful with us they don't let anything go. I've had this happen to be twice and both times whatever they found was benign.
In fact, when progression was found it was completely incidental. Good luck!
-
Thoughts and prayers are with you
-
Thank you for helping keep me calm ladies.
All is good. The radiologist said it was nothing more than "normal fatty breast tissue".
Phew. The relief is welcome!!
-
Yay!!!!!!! Thank God! Go have a glass of wine!

kiwi - yay!!!

So happy for you KiwiMom! I was lurking and praying for you. I have a pesky fibroid on my right breast and when my Onc found it post chemo it and she scared the poo out of me. Turned out to be just a fibroid. When I went in for the breast lift, the PS tried to find it and remove it, but it had shrunk down to nothing. He thought the tamoxephen was responsible. I don't know, but I am so glad I can't feel it anymore.
-
So happy for you
-
Kiwimum, I'm sooo happy to hear this result. It's lucky you got a quick appointment and didn't have to wait too long to know the outcome. Do read the report though as it may contain a lot of information about the health of your breasts.
Now you can get on with resuming a normal life.
Very best wishes to you. -
Thank you
-
Very, very happy for you!
-
So good to hear! I've been lurking on your thread with my fingers and everything else crossed.
regards Jenn (another kiwi mum) -
