Qi Gong to prevent reoccurence or mets
I have read that Qi Gong, which is an ancient Chinese exercise can prevent tumours from growing. I took a class the other day and it was amazing. Has anyone heard or read anything about this?

I read an amazing article about the power of Qi Gong on the lifeovercancerblog.com. I try to practice it regularly.

Hi cat, ive looked into it too, there are a couple of links on my stage IV Alt approach to health thread, and there are a couple of Chinese ladies here on bco who practice it, and uploaded links on the stage IV forum, but no one responded to their post except me. Maybe search in the search bar? One of the posts in the stage IV forum was a link to a type of Qi gong that is specifically for those with cancer. I would love more information too. There is a Qi gong class in my town, I booked in to start then chickened out as i was worried that i would be alone with a bunch of healthy people...lol...but thanks for reminding me to get off my butt and get going with it.
What info do you have on it? I believe there is benefit in the breathing techniques and oxygenating the body.

I have never done it but I know that a friend of mine has put her Mysthenia Gravis in total remission by doing a vegan diet combined with Tai chi and Qi gong. She is a total advocate for it, and they go to Thailand every year to learn the latest techniques. She had tried everything and nothing worked. This was a last resort for her.

Hi ladies,
As you may know I'm definitely into alternative medicine! When I was first dx with this lovely (not) disease at the Cancer Agency, there was a library on site with loads of info. I borrowed a CD called Qigong for beginners by Gaiam and took it home. This CD has Francesco Garripoli and Daisy Lee as teachers, and it's amazing. I ended up buying my own CD and I try to practice Qigong a few x a week. Initially it was slow going for me but after 3 years, as the chemo left my body and I started feeling more like myself the stretches and slow controlled breathing are a wonderful way to relax and recharge the immune system. You can get the CD on amazon, I believe. Or any number of places.
The stretches are slow and very easy....Qigong is not T'ai Chi which is a bit more involved. I like Qigong because I don't need a mat or a lot of space to do the exercises. This CD ends with a Shaolin Facial Massage which also involves massage of lymph nodes. It moves the 'chi' around in the body. Ancient Chinese believe that stagnant 'chi' causes lumps or tumors. I think there is something to this belief. "Chi" has been proven to be real - it is like the electrical system in the body. Acupuncture can also help to unblock 'chi'. These methods have been around for thousands of years. It can boost your immunity and reduce stress, which is a major driver in cancers.
