Rash and throat burning

Options

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this. i completed my mastectomy sept 13 and radiation jan 11 and was considerably burned. I developed a red itchy rash that was treated with antibiotics. All burn has cleared and i am left with a very hard boob that feels like a sharp baseball. I recently devloped another rash thst is all between my breasts and up to my neck. It is not red , does not itch. looks just like my skin raised. but have hundreds of these bumps everywhere.

Also, prior to radiation i developed a horrible burn in my throat(had a thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer 2 months prior). Am on synthroid and get this awful choking  acid reflux burning to the point I feel sick all the time. I startrd seeing a counslor for a diagnosis of post traumatic stress disorder. Was put on .5 mg klonopin 3 X a day and zoloft 50 mg. My thyroid levels  are not where they should be but are getting close to the normal range. I sm on the hypo end..I am so lost and fell like i will never find myself again

aww hun, I cant help you with radiation cause I didnt have it, but would advise you to contact your breastcare nurse or oncologist/radiologist regardless and hopefully someone who has experienced radiation will be along in a minute to help you.

You will find yourself again. Your feeling down from all the stress and from feeling ill for so long Im sure. We all feel like that at various times. Hang in there - your not alone. So many wonderful women in here that will help you through the bad times.

Hi sdmeyer I'm really sorry that you are feeling so bad.  With you chest, I would get it checked out as it could be cellulitis.  Your breast being hard is understandable as the skin and tissue had been badly damaged by the rads and will take time to return to a more normal state...........and it will given the time it needs so try to be patient with it.  With the burning in your throat, you have reflux and it needs to be treated before it can damage your esophagus.  Make and appointment to see your doc, get your chest checked and ask for a px for something to treat and control the acid.

I know at this point in time you are feeling less than normal and like you will never see normal again........take it from me lovely, you will it just takes some time so be gentle with yourself and don't beat yourself up over something you cannot control.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

I got bumps during radiation.  I thought it was shingles because of the stress.  The doctor said it was a side effect of the radiation.  That was 4 years ago; I still have the bumps but since I started taking olive leaf extract the bumps are much less noticeable.  Olive leaf extract is effective against viruses so I tried it with my latest shingles outbreak and it helped.  It also has some anti cancer properties.  You can read about it on PubMed.

Radiation takes a very long time to finish....your tissue will continue to change/shrink/heal for 6-12 months. Anything that isn't normal, make the call to your doc. Never stop taking care of yourself...

My gums reversed on the side of my radiation. I'm still healing and I finished rads in October.

Finding yourself....well, you are in there...but you might need help to make the trip a little easier? Oh...I have 2 psychiatrists, meds and resources...maybe that doesn't sound like something that would help you...but just start somewhere..ok?

    Snoopsmom,

You can get olive leaf extract at any health food store.  It comes in capsules.  I hope it helps.

Check your meds. I just finished radiation last week and I also have bumps around my thighs and back and buttocks. They were caused by steroids in my "Miracle Mouthwash" that I took for my esophagus being irritated by the radiation.  It has been 2 weeks since I did the mouthwash and the bumps are starting to disappear.  Good luck.
