Congrats, Meg! News like this is always so good to hear.
I have to ask - do you let your mind feel more at ease now? I'm 3 years out, and I'm starting to do better... but then I worry if I let my "guard" down (my "guard" being obsessive worry about recurrrence, aches, pains, etc) I'll have the rug pulled out from under me if it comes back - and I've had it pulled out too many times before. How do you feel about that?

Minxie such a good question. I do feel more secure...I have found I only feel scared when I know I have not been eating well enough (low fat) so I keep a journal of my eating and am now making my self write at the top of every page "beginning year 5" to force myself to take this seriously. I'm saying to myself "come on girl...just be good for another year." Somehow making myself that promise to at least do my best (I'm not perfect) makes me feel so much better.
I have to keep track of every glass of wine to limit it each week because...let me tell you....if I knew it did not contribute to recurrance...I'd drink a whole lot more.
Through this whole thing the main thing that kept me sane was taking control. First I had control because I had so much chemo. I still love chemo...thank God for chemo. Then I lost my mind when it was done and got it back when I read the studies on dramatically lowering triple negative recurrance rates by eating low fat and exercising. I felt like I was taking my own version of temoxafin by purifying my body and pissing off the cancer cells.
4 years does feel so much better than 2 and even better than 3. Now I just want to be typing about 5. One year at a time of good behavior.

Glad to hear it Meggy! I'm working on the diet/exercise thing as well, sometimes dedicated, sometimes slacking off
Looking forward to seeing your 5 year post!

Thats terrific 4 yrs...are you done now? Do you have the portable pack chemo or do you have to go into the hospital for treatment? Anyone here taken Xeloda? Taken the oral form? How was it? I think I wanna go with that cause I found an old article from 1995 on Tamox about some study thinking it might cause colon rectal cancer in the future of the takers. Looks like the med establishment successfully buried that news. I was given a prescription for Premarin after I told my gyn that I had a dx of LCIS. Of course that turned in the IDC that I have now. I can't believe they still have Premarin on the market. I'm not a dr of course so dunno whats best for my bc and they will get me an onc dr once I have surg on 2/13 and get my path report back with all details. I still need the ONc dx test tho right for a rating? Meggy are you drinking wine? Do you measure it to make sure its only 4 ounces? Are you allowed to drink wine and have chemo? really!

Wonderful news, Meggy! Keep on keeping on! Gives us all added hope and inspiration!

Way to go Meggy! and thanks for your posts...I'm 3 years out in 1 month and 12 days..ha ha...
Yes.. TRIPLE NEGATIVES do survive..oh yes they do...it's just a little harder for us...
-
Oh just to clarify...I'm triple negative so I'm not actually on any targeted therapy like Temoxofen (hense I don't know how to spell it LOL). I took all my chemo 3 plus years ago...just took extra becasue there is no targeted therapy for triple negatives.
I drink on average one glass of wine a week. Sometimes two but I know I shouldn't. I think the glass of wine is about 8 ounces. I think any amount is bad but hopefully 8 ounces a week is OK? Is there a 4 ounce limit?
Titan, I look forward to hearing about your 3, 4 , 5 year marks and that goes for all of my sisters.
